1. Sounds like someone got jealous
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (10.17.13)
The pope is never going to visit the west bank.... never. Maybe if they put him in an Israeli tank for protection or something.
2. I'm not sure ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.17.13)
.... that the pope is all that interested in visiting Schehem, Jenin and Ramallah. Possibly Bethlehem. But since Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of Israel, and since Israel controls Hebron, there isn't going to very much of anything that the pope can see based on Abbas' invitation. Unless Abbas wants to show off his Gulfstream jet. Which probably won't interest the pope all that much. After all, he does have a fleet of private jets at his disposal.
3. There is no "Palestinian president".
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.17.13)
The P.A. is a sadistic, genocidal terrorist gang headed by Holocaust denying mass murderer, Mahmoud Abbas. Palestine is fictional. That is the truth. Tell it!!
4. we must have agreed to the right of return
zionist forever   (10.17.13)
Abbas invited the Pope to visit the Holy Land ( Israel is the Holy Land ). I thought it was Peres who invited him. Maybe we granted Abbas a right of return and made him an official spokesman. Poor old Abbas gets very upset when he is not invited to parties.

David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England   (10.17.13)
Still spewing hate against the 99.9% of the world that disagrees with your neurotic rantings and lies are we Sarah?. I doubt you'll know this, as you know little about Arabs, and other people of different religions and ethnicities beyond your hysterical racist bile, but there are tens of thousands of Christians in the areas you have mentioned, both in Israel and within the Palestinian areas. Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople are coming on behalf of the Israeli and Palestinian governments to visit the Christians of the Holy Land and to promote peace and foster dialogue between Jews, Christians and Muslims. They are the leaders of influential and major world religions who maintain not only friendships with Israel and the Jewish People but also the Palestinians and the Arab world. They are the greatest friends Israel and Jewish people, as well as Palestinians, could ask for unlike yourself, as your daily neurotic rantings bordering on schizophrenia, hysterical racism, and disgusting lies are apt fuel for the most radical of anti-Semites.
6. THAT is the PA heritage...
Andy ,   Manchester, UK   (10.17.13)
The pope will enjoy Gaza, full of Philistines, next to the Holy Land, Israel. Then as now, Gaza the accursed pagan city. THAT is the heritage of the PA...
7. To Jacob E, Holon, Israel
David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England   (10.17.13)
Actually Pope Benedict visited the West Bank as well as Israel. Pope Francis will be the second Pope to visit Israel and the West Bank.
8. It is amusing to read about the head of the Muslim-Arab...
Hermon Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (10.17.13)
...president of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) inviting the Pope to visit the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people. One only wonders, when will Mr. Abbas will have enough hutzpah to invite the Pope to speak at the Knesset, Israel's parliament...??
9. #2 and #5 - a contrast
elke ,   USA   (10.17.13)
Isn't is ironic that the same people who scream bloody murder at the faintest whiff of "anti-Semitism" do not hesitate to spew vile hatred toward Christians and Muslims -- and without much censure. Thank you David for pointing this up in your thoughtful post. My thinking is that we should deplore these tactics of broad-brush demonization when they come from the mouths of Jews as well as when they arise from the speech of "goys" and "muzzis." Do unto others....
10. Bravo to Abbas
Italian ,   Italy   (10.17.13)
A Muslim guy, head of a Muslim state, inviting the pope is a beautiful gesture of openness. This proves that true Muslims aren't those always mentioned in medias Islam is a religion of peace
11. There is no such place as....
Robert ,   Australia   (10.18.13)
....the "holy" land. The entire land mass on the eastern Mediterranean is an unholy entity.
