1. No justice in cult court, only protekzia for cult leaders
American-Israeli Jew ,   World   (10.20.13)
2. Limits of Beth Din remit
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (10.20.13)
In the Diaspora the Beth Din has only specific powers and that does not cover criminal prosecutions. That must be left to the police, public prosecutor and the courts. If you do not report attempted rape to the police you transgress, 'You shall not stand idly by the blood of your neighbour. '
3. abuse
JeanH ,   USA   (10.20.13)
Judaism is not immune to a countries civil laws. Rabbis do not have the authority to hide or sweep such injustices under the Jewish carpet. The victim's family did the right thing. I hope they find a great Modern Orthodox community to call home!
4. Lashon ha'ra!!!!
Ex-orthodox Jew   (10.21.13)
Don't speak, don't witness, it's only lashon ha'ra against the holy rabbonim!
5. The question is - Who will punish the community
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (10.21.13)
Kolko is not the only criminal! His community ostracized and revictimized the boy and his family. Until Good Torah Jews stand up to this kind of evil, we will continue to have it. A Cherem should be put on this community until they start to follow Torah instead of blindly following their false leaders. This behavior makes me ill!
