1. IL - TR relations
George Brown ,   New York, NY   (10.20.13)
Fully agree with Klieger. Turkey under Erdogan is not different than Saudi or Syria or Iraq/ Iran re Israel, possibly worse. Turkeuy needs to be dismembered to create a Greater Kurdistan, a state for the Alevis (Assad cousins) and the Sunni Turks.
2. Erdogan is Obama's vice President
(10.20.13)
3. Lik in Egypt, soon the military..
Beary White ,   Norway   (10.20.13)
...will take over in Turkey I don't think they let jip-jip erdogan destroy relations with non-terror states, and just keep Iran, Hamas, Hezbolla, as the only ones to rely on. Jip-Jip erdogan is actually destroying all international relations forTurkey.
4. Someone had to spell it out.
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.20.13)
The question now is whether Israel will follow this advice? Unfortunately, as long as Obama is in power there is no chance in hell!
5. Relations
Oleg ,   Canada   (10.20.13)
I believe the diplomatic ties should be kept not just with friendly nations, but others, who recognize Israel. The latter would include today's Turkey. The obvious thing is not to entrust them with Israeli state secrets, while maintaining trade, which is beneficial.
6. Israel will not cut relations
Dony ,   Canada   (10.20.13)
Syria told Erdogan to go to hell. Egypt told him to go to hell. No doubt he (weak-kneed as he is) will reconcile with these countries. Israel will keep playing the futile diplomatic card and the Islamist will keep telling Israel to go to hell. Seen it many times before.
7. I agree 100% with the author of this writing
Israeli 2   (10.20.13)
It is all a matter of character and mentality. They often conflict. If Israel has more character, it will be accused of being less diplomatic and intelligent and going the way of Erdogan. But I guess that's what Erdogan understands. He chose character and Israel chose intelligence. Israel should have both and that's why I agree with you.
8. Severing relations
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (10.20.13)
Turkey's answer to "Israel": Goodbye, good riddance to the scourge of the Middle East!
9. Obama should apologise for forcing Israel to apologise !
Alan ,   SA   (10.21.13)
10. Self Respect?
Volvi   (10.20.13)
You think Israel has any self respect left, it lost it years ago. Which other country allows its citizens blood run free? Which other country openly negotiates with terrorists and capitulates to them at every turn? Self respect you say? Which country apologises for self defense? Which other country is willing to sacrifice to its enemies its own heartland together with its citizens. I have a long history with Israel including serving in the IDF and would never have believed Israel could go as low as it has in its perfidy and treachery against its own people and principles. When shall we be rid of leaders like this? That is the question. When will they be held personally accountable? and put on trial for their terrible crimes against their own people? This is not the Israel Jews once looked up to, any wonder why Jews are slowly considering Israel less relevant which is a tragic outcome.
11. Kurds and waaaaaay.....
Gideon Reader   (10.20.13)
Cutting Diplomatic ties is OK. Training and arming the Kurds is salt for the stew. His douchness Errbegone like most other Satrap Ratsaps will soon leave the stage. Exit stage left muttering and shuffeling.
12. Even when erdogan leaves
Onas   (10.21.13)
..next president will NOT be jew stooge. Turks will NEVER accept a president who is a jew stooge like Obama and the rest of European countries. Turks will not forgive Marmara murders and you can turn on your head upside down you will never see a Turkish leader who will be appeasing you in any way. You are messing with the wrong bull and you will pay for it. Turkey will cut relations and reliance with west slowly but surely and become self sufficient in manufacturing weapons and technology, jews deserve everything they are getting.
13. Business interests will oppose termination of relations
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.21.13)
Despite the diplomatic deep-freeze, mutual trade between Israel and Turkey is *growing*. I don't have the latest numbers, but Israel continues to import manufactured goods, including appliances and automobiles. And Israel's military industries still seek to sell advanced weapons systems to Turkey. Foolishness is fairly widespread. But hope springs eternal. Another gesture, another cooperative venture, and they think Turkey will be won over. That's why Israel, responding to requests from Turkish business contacts, currently allow Turkish exports - blocked now from Syria - to trans-ship via Israeli roads to Jordan and the Persian Gulf. It's also why some dangle the possibility of dealing Turkey into Israel's gas projects - no doubt to the chagrin of Israel's new "allies" Cyprus and Greece.
14. Israel should do only one thing - help Kurds
Oleg ,   USA   (10.21.13)
Kurds were for centuries abused by Turks. they deserve to have their own independent country. Israel have moral obligation to help in their path to freedom.
15. To #8 blind, brain washed idiot
Arul ,   India   (10.21.13)
Israel is a blessing to humanity in many ways. A true democracy and a beacon. You are an anti-semite garbage eating US money.
16. Freeze ties?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.21.13)
Oh. The time has come to sever ties with Turkey. Israel does not need Turkey nearly as much as Turkey needs Israel. The Turks -- and Erdogan and Davotogu in particular -- seriously overestimate Turkey's importance. Israel should arm the Kurdish rebels, too. Time to teach the Turks a lesson.
17. Nr 16. Sarah - You are my Woman !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (10.21.13)
18. you are all falling for the same b.s!
Ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (10.21.13)
the only reason bib wasn't tried as a war criminal yet, is because unlike news sites, and people. who will fall for anything out of context to already enforce their beliefs, governments and international organizations actually need evidence not out of context pictures and video of dead children! this thing with turkey is the exact same thing, and now all of YOU are falling for it!, just to re-enforce your beliefs that Israel should cut ties with Turkey! if you only knew how many people in both Israel and turkey benefit from trade between the two countries, how many won't be able to put bread on the table without it. someone writes an article in a newspaper and everyone is jumping on it, at face value! maybe turkey did, may it didn't! check your ego at the door and let the people we israelis elected to decide what's good for us, Not you!
19. You splitt with Turkey, you splitt with NATO
the truth   (10.21.13)
Its as simple as that. Take it or leave it.
20. Turkey relations with Israel? I say down with tourism to
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (10.21.13)
Turkey - Is it me personally that feels that Israelis that travel to Turkey for vacation are traitors. Their hedonism has greater value than moral turpitude ? Or their money (cheap Turkey) ?
21. Israel should wean itself from Turkey
John ,   NY USA   (10.21.13)
As an American, that does not support the Obama administrations reactive and short sighted foreign policy, I would like to offer a few thoughts. Israel should create an environment for the companies that import from Turkey, to look to other markets. The same goes for companies that depend on exports to Turkey. Turkey being dependent on Israeli tourism, is leverage for Israel. The collapse of the Egyptian tourism and the Egyptian economy is a good example. Any relationship with Turkey should be considered unreliable and steps should be taken now to mitigate any effect the cessation of those relationships would have. Erdogan is a dishonest man and Israel should be very suspicious of his intentions.
22. Very shallow argument
Shachar ,   Eilat   (10.21.13)
Diplomatic relations exist to work out problems between countries, you just need to manage them effectively. #14 is right, when Turkey aids our enemies we should retaliate in kind, aid to the Kurds, Armenian genocide etc
23. I do not agree but...
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (10.21.13)
There must be repercussions. As an example, known Turkish agents in Israel, often working out of embassies, should be asked to leave. Second, a complaint should be made to NATO. His latest transgression should not go unpunished.
24. thank Hillary and Obama!
ej   (10.21.13)
They are the ones who twisted Israel's arm to apologize to those Islamofascists! I hope all those American Jews who voted for Obama- and who no doubt will vote for Hillary, are happy that they are responsible for Israel's - and the Jewish people's, humiliation!
25. 21
anton ,   istanbul   (10.21.13)
Every year between 25-30 million tourist visit turkey , last year only 50k was from israel, numbers say no dependency
26. 23
anton ,   istanbul   (10.21.13)
then what? lets assume you have retaliated for the exposure of spy ring, turkey can do more to harm isaeli interest you know
27. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.21.13)
Are you serious? Turkey is on the verge of getting kicked out of NATO. The Turks have been shirking their NATO duties for quite a while, anyway. They refused active duty service in Afghanistan and Iraq, claiming a "delicacy" whereby they would not actively engage in combat against fellow Moslems. I believe that the small number of Turks that have been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq serve as Army cooks. Wow! How glorious is that?
28. We enjoy Turkey for Thanksgiving!
Grant ,   USA   (10.21.13)
29. Recognition of the Armenian genocide is
Frank ,   USA   (10.21.13)
the answer. The US Congress has a very good card to play and, hopefully, next time around Israel will not stand by Turkey vis-a-vis the US Congress like it did in the past.
30. Anton - tourism
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.21.13)
I don' t know the exact numbers of tourists that come to Turkey each year but I have read many articles in the Turkish and Israeli Media last year of Antalya hotels begging for Israeli tourists to come back. Considering that many of them loosing money.....
