Good luck to the man, I hope he does a good job. Perhaps is appointment could also be to do with the possible establishment of a mini-Druze state over the golan boarder in Syria. The IDF has been helping select rebel groups, even to the point of setting up medical centres for them. It might be useful to establish a Druze State centred on the city of Daraa in Syria, as while Assad controls some parts of the country, over 60% is in one pair of rebel hands or another. The Kurds have de-facto control of much of North-East Syria, so why not a Druze enclave supported by Israel in the South West? It'd annoy that funder of Hezbollah Assad, put some distance between Israel and the radical Sunni rebels and perhaps give them an ally in the future?

Israelis own the country of which they are citizens: Druzes, Jews, Christians, Arabs, Beduins, Cherkess.
Citizenship is the bond; commitment to the country is the bond; Israeli culture is the bond. Nurture such bonds and Israel will be successful. Penalize law breakers and those who don't pledge allegiance to Israel (yes, Israel definitely needs a pledge of allegiance; singing the antonym is not enough.) Write the Constitution and set country's ideals and goals on paper for everyone to see. If this happens, Israel will become respected and emigrants will agree to come home.
