The basic REALITY is US-only sanctions do nothing because the US has no commercial interaction with Iran. Any attempt at third -party sanctions (trying to force other countries to care about what the US thinks ) will COMPLETELY FAIL. The other countries on earth are now either neutral or siding with Iran, NO other country supports the US. That is, all the other countries on earth will just tell the US to shut up and go away. If the US tries to enforce third-party sanctions, other countries will trash the dollar even more than they already are (thanks to republicans) and will cause massive economic harm to the US. This will accelerate the Chinese plan to replace the US dollar and the US based electronic banking system with ones that China controls. The US has reached teh limits of its power and any action by the senate will just further demonstrate to the world how powerless the US is.
