31. Some common sense, please
Rivkah F. ,   Jerusalem   (10.28.13)
Has Livni's life been threatened? No. Has Bennett's life been threatened? No. There is a valid difference of opinion as to the path Israel should take. Both parties are in the government and both will have to compromise or leave the govt.. This situation is NOT at all like the time of Rabin when there were incitement & death threats against Rabin and when the government unfortunately did not really explain the possible consequences of its actions to the people of Israel, leaving the public to cope with terror and uncertainty. The worst thing for Israel would be if people would be cowed into silence & not express their views because journalists falsely accuse them of incitement, just for voicing criticism of particular policies. Let us discuss these essential issues factually without name-calling, insulting, spitting, cursing and fear-mongering. Facts, precedent, experience and caution should be criteria for all parties here. And pedigree should not be a factor at all. Bennett has an impressive military past as well. It is what they stand for now, not what they or their family did in the underground movements or the army that's counts..
32. Incitement must stop
Elizabeth ,   Ottawa Canada   (10.28.13)
"A house divided against itself cannot stand." Bible quote also Abraham Lincoln quote All Israel shoudl love one another. Truly love one another.
33. Etan and Sara and turning in grave
David Jacobs ,   Hasmonaim   (10.28.13)
Etan and Tzipi Livni of blessed memory would never have released terrorists who murdered Jews. They are turning in their graves from what their daughter turned into. May she repent and do Tzuva before more innocent Jews die. Stop the release of terrorist.
34. another political assassination?
tiki ,   belgium   (10.28.13)
Mr. Haber is still living in the Rabin era. The "incitement" he's talking about is called "freedom of speech" today!
35. flawed arguments that reads like its in haaretz
zionist forever   (10.28.13)
Habayit Hayehudi attacks on Livni could lead to a political assassination - WHY? Do we need to have politicians all agreeing with each other & never criticising to avoid assassinations? If its a choice between assassination risk & unquestionable support to other MKS then lets risk assassination risk at least that puts democracy first. The people who voted for Bennet want different things the ones Livni voters do and they don't want a prisoner release & Bennet policy should be inline with what his voters expect. So what if Livnis parents fought in the Irgun, doesn't mean she did so why does she deserve praise .. is she royalty? During her military career Livni was in Mossad whilst Bennet was a major in the special forces. The jobs are different but both are important so the fact Livni was in Mossad & Bennet wasn't doesn't mean she did a more important job for which she deserves praise he doesn't. It should also be noted that when it comes to the coalition seats Bennets party has 12 whilst Livni has 3 so who has more supporters?
36. Anyone REALLY buying this "Good Cop/Bad Cop" routine? Like:
tom ,   tel aviv   (10.28.13)
she's doing it behind Bibi's back? What are you people, olim hadashim? We have 120, good for nothing impotents in the Knesset, who's only real job is, to hold onto their jobs. That much is evident.
37. #32 well said!
(10.28.13)
The Zionists said exactly what you said, but love cannot be one sided. The extreme Left called the Zionists propellors, enemies of the peace, and terrorists. The extreme Left sent Shabak and Yassam to attack the Zionists. The extreme Left beat the Zionists, stole their homes and property and gave it to terrorists. The extreme Left hates the Zionists and there is nothing the Zionists can do to change it.
38. (18) 100% right

39. THE LIBERATION OF MURDERERS BRINGS MORE MURDERERS
TZVI ,   ירושלים   (10.28.13)
40. Incite! Then put right on defense blaming them for inciting
Cyberbrain ,   Israel   (10.28.13)
(from Left's Political Cookbook)
41. Labeling disagreement as incitement=suppression=>violence
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Israel   (10.28.13)
Op-ed is attempting to suppress disagreement; those whose opinions are suppressed, what recourse do you leave them? It is you who are inciting to violence -- at the same time blaming your political foes for incitement to put them on the defensive. Very clever except for one thing: your incitement and blameshifting tactics are likely to turn around and bite you; and you will have been to blame. Tolerance and understanding is no more an attribute of the "liberal" Left extremists (including your op-ed) than it is of the extremists Khareidim. The truly sad tragedy is that the 60-70% moderate middle is the hostage of both extreme fringes and their irresponsible incitement.
42. Livni's release of terrorists could lead to more terror!
Smadar ,   Ariel, Israel   (10.28.13)
43. Fighting Factions big danger to Israel
Zechariah   (10.28.13)
The Extremists are dividing the nation in a bad way .A strong Humanitarian but Security strong central core ought continue govern Israel .Some in Bennetts Party are Grandicose Psychotics.
44. Till now the bullets have flown from right to left
Shachar ,   Eilat   (10.28.13)
Maybe if they start flying in the opposite direction some rightists might lose their enthusiasm for political assassinations. Does the right (like #14) really believe that Jews killing Jews, civil war, is the best thing for Israel right now?
45. Incitement must stop
Voice of Reason ,   Here & Now   (10.28.13)
How true so Eitan would you please stop your incitement. No matter what Tzipi's parents did or didn't do that does not give Tzipi any carte blanche. No-one threatened her all they did was wish for someone else to. Time for you to stifle your one sided drivel. Yes a madman murdered Rabin (OBM) that does not mean that everyone that disagrees with you is a potential murderer.
46. Haber Is Partially Right
TSB ,   Clifton, NJ USA   (10.28.13)
For once, Haber is right, at least in part. The part about political assassination is a red herring used by the left to squelch opposition. But the part about Bennett being a hypocrite is correct. The problem is not Livni, it is the government itself. Bennett and his party are part of the government. If freeing terrorists is such an awful thing to do (and I agree it is), then Bennett and his party should quite the government. So long as they don't, they are enabling the very awful policy they are criticizing Livni for. In short, Mr. Bennett, either put up or shut up.
47. Everyone Wants Peace
A Simple Jew ,   Beer Sheva   (10.28.13)
No one is for war. But the leftist idea of peace through appeasement will guarantee endless war. Bennett is against releasing prisoners because it will do no good. It will humiliate us, hurt us, and accomplish nothing.
48. in the coalition or against it
Piotr Berman ,   State College, USA   (10.28.13)
Bennet villifies his coalition partner that advocated a policy he did not like. But if that policy was adopted by the cabinet where he is a member, then either he should leave the government and the coalition, or shut up.
49. Bravo Eitan for the courage to stand up to thuggery !
Rafi ,   US   (10.28.13)
50. #29 "doesn't look all that generous"
Expat ,   Adelaide   (10.29.13)
What a horrible choice of words. Whoever said anyone should be "generous" to terrorists? In Australia the punishment for premeditated murder is life in prison. Martin Bryant is now serving 35 life sentences for his heinous massacre. In America, hundreds of prisoners are in for life, plus a few dozens that are EXECUTED annually. Would America ever consider releasing the perps of 9/11 or Timothy McVeigh? So all in all, yes - Israel in comparison is extremely generous in release these cold-blooded murderers. As for your statement, "prisoner release was made in return for the abandonment of prosecution for war crimes against Israel" - by whom exactly? The Palestinians? In which court exactly? For which crimes? Can you please cite a credible source for this assertion you made? I agree with "compromise is often painful but anything is better than war", but not when it comes to releasing murderers, which is wrong in every level, and in actuality does not promote peace but rewards terrorism.
