1. Americans cannot rely on a Muslim traitor for protection !!
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (10.29.13)
2. I don't know what is scarier
(10.29.13)
I don't know what is scarier, that Obama knows the truth and is lying, or is not smart enough to realize that he is lying. US opponents like Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, Russia, China, drug gangs and Al qaeda know that they will be spied on, so they use various methods and NSA-dictated weaknesses in browsers and operating systems to make spying impossible. It is only countries innocent enough to trust the Obama regime, like England, France, Germany, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Japan that were spied on. Since these countries are not a military danger to the US, the Obama regime must have spied to steal industrial secrets or for blackmail.
3. SO - You cant trust your Nato partners and EU.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (10.29.13)
They are not to be trusted because they pose a threath aginst the US and make its citysens unsecure and unsafe ? So - If you cant trust then how can they trust you ? Nato will crack and your allies leave you. Arn.Sweden.
4. Obama's foreign policy
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (10.29.13)
Screw your friends and snuggle up to despots. Oh, how the mighty have fallen...
5. Same can be said of Israel's usage of Pollard
Tahl   (10.29.13)
The intel he delivered about Iraq was vital for Israel's security - certainly during the first Gulf War. An intel that the CIA should have shared with Israel in the first place. And still, Israel apologized for the Pollard affair. Will we witness a similar American apology to the Europeans? Something tells me not to hold my breath. Seems like the big boy can get away with a lot more than the little ones.
6. Let us all learn . . .
Danny ,   London England   (10.29.13)
Let us all learn Daf HaYomi over the telephone driving NSA crazy trying to figure out what we're talking about! It goes to show you never know who is listening to your lashon hara!
7. Nr 3. I think this current US Government --
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (10.29.13)
- is the most Foolish and Idiotic in the Histoet of the US. It will fail in everything depending on lack of Maturity and Insight to Reality. Arn.Sweden.
8. #5 please explain
(10.29.13)
What does Obama listening in on Merkel's private phone conversation with her husband and children have to do with Pollard?
9. Utter disaster!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.29.13)
This president has been an utter disaster for the US, Middle East and soon for Israel.
10. Mullahs will deliver orders to proceed with nukes by messeng
ab   (10.29.13)
er,al taping worthless despite Hussein's assurances " We'll know when they'll decide to proceed to building nukes"
11. You Israelis are your own worst enemies...
Robert ,   Australia   (10.29.13)
....When will you ever learn?
12. #8 what's not clear?
Tahl   (10.29.13)
Obama tries to excuse the NSA's espionage against Europe by saying it was meant to protect the US. In similar fashion, Israel can justify Pollard's espionage by saying his intel was vital to Israel's security - with an even greater justification. The huge difference in America's reaction in the two cases highlights their blatant double standard.
13. Yes indeed, Tahl #5
Cameron ,   USA   (10.29.13)
There will be no truly sincere apology to Europeans for surveillance operations. None is owed or merited. We continue to proceed & act as we must in that particular arena. Let that last line in your comment be a guiding mantra for Israelis to always bear in mind. Pollard? Still harping about the fate of your lil sneak operative? Look, due to the unique nature of our patron(us) & dependent client(you) relationship, you must walk carefully with the US. Israel crossed a big line with us, and his penalty drives the point home.
14. Looks like "Victoria" doesn't have any more "Secret"
Jake   (10.29.13)
They've all been exposed at the White House via candid camera.
15. #13, Laughable nonsense.
Jake   (10.29.13)
The US has already confirmed that Pollard merely communicated to Israel info on common US/Israel adversaries (PLO, Arab governments, Soviets, etc.)...information that US as an ally should have been sharing with Israel to begin with. Pollard is being kept in custody to serve as an "example"...though good-ole-boys guilty of far worse espionage have been released with barely a slap on the wrist.
16. laughable, #15?
Cameron ,   USA   (10.29.13)
I've not noticed any Israelis smiling and giggling when the Pollard Penalty is brought up. Yes, an example he is. There is harsh penalty when Israelis truly piss us off, and no array of Israeli tricks and maneuvers can lessen it.
17. #11, Believe it or not, this article isn't about Israel.
Jake   (10.30.13)
18. #17 Believe it or not....
Robert ,   Australia   (10.30.13)
....Israeli talk backers on this article and about US spying in general is obviously a topic of interest here. Even you are here.
