The Osprays are meant to replace the aging Sea Stalion heavy lift helicopters which are coming to an end of their service life. The choice was between the Super Sea Stalion or the V22. The V22 is more expensive and its not even the kind of vehicle Israel needs. This is ideal for the kind of missions the US undertakes but for Israel which undertakes local missions its not needed. Its no good in any strike against iran, its not a heavy lift cargo plane and if course its not a long range aircraft. Why do we need an actual plane if this is to undertake missions previously done by helicopter? The V22 is a more glamerous than a heavy lift helicopter but for Israel and the needs of the IDF its a complete waste of money and we should have gone with the Super Sea Stalion especially considering that the older brother of the SSS has served the IDF well for decades so why buy an unknown prodoct when we can do all the jobs we need with a cheaper helicopter which has proven its use by the IDF.
4. not a waste of money

Israel will get these planes and take them apart and turn them into something way more awesome. We've already done that with quite a few American military vehicles that didn't work out well for them and we even improve the ones that work perfectly for them.

an accident looking for a place to happen.
6. Crappy and dangerous equipment.

Why would Israel want to buy some? This aircraft is a bigger lethal threat to the US armed forces than AlQaida.

Like the F-22 and the B-1, B-2, B-52, Most likely the planes will be paid for by the US taxpayer. If I got a free corvette, I would have lots of money to spend on upgrades, so don't be so cocky with your warped bravado. For every plane or vehicle Israel get's for free, the US taxpayer has to pay to develop and then purchase a 100 or more. In other words you have more money to freelance with free stuff. If you where a true friend you would say no to free aid considering our financial troubles, but NO, you keeping begging for more.

Giving Israel these goodies for free saves the US a lot more money in R&D. In return, the US gets highly improved systems, for a fraction of the cost it would cost them to develop it themselves. Iron Dome and the Arrow are a great example.
