1. We need more Jews
Zechariah   (11.03.13)
Israel needs more Jews by anything it takes. Need to reach three hundred million by 2010 with a third in Israel in Mega cities with enormous underground shelters Hover air craft and escape submarines in case of a massive nuclear exchange .
2. More courts does not solve the problem
Reuven ,   Netanya   (11.03.13)
Liberate Judaism from the grip of the orthodox dictatorship, that will do the job ... nothing else
3. Another desperate step towards the destruction of Judaism .
shachalnur ,   amsterdam   (11.03.13)
4. It's all good.....
Ezra ,   San Diego   (11.03.13)
But DO NOT rewrite the Torah. Do not add to it; do not take away. Everything will work out for the glory of HaShem.
5. You can not alineate people ,who are not Jews,
olim hadashim ,   tel aviv/israel   (11.03.13)
from Judaism.Strange that a minister in the cabinet does not know this.
6. I am categorically against legisating religious canon.
Miron ,   USA   (11.03.13)
This is inconseivable and against basic law of Israel. The Supreme Court will reject this measure, even it passes Knesset. What can be done is change of rabbinate policies in IDF, first and foremost. They murdered Ravvin Fogel together with his wife and infants for his attempt to reform norms of IDF rabbinate with regards to conversions. And they even found two poor souls to take upon themselves false confession.
7. to #3 shachalnur in Amsterdam
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (11.04.13)
You are exactly correct. We have our long-range plan to smash the rabbinic cult (which only arose in the Common Era) and return to a civil Hebrew constitutional monarchy. People like the Satmars & those who wave foreign flags in our streets... will be expelled. We the civil Hebrews are the Alpha Tribe here & you guys don't have the balls to stop us.
8. How may one convert?
sean green ,   Pasadena, usa   (11.04.13)
As a gentile of very little Jewish heritage. I and my son are circumcised, now kosher, study Torah, and pray to the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Should I contact a rabbi? I'm in the US and have no intention of making aliyah although I hop to visit someday and am very much a Zionist. Any online resources for those of us who at the very least want to learn more?
9. to #4, Bless you.
sean green ,   Pasadena, usa   (11.04.13)
I could not have phrased it better. Bless you and your faithfulness to our Creator.
10. probably the most destructive legislation imagineable
david   (11.04.13)
as much as i dislike many leftists in israel, at least i could feel that in the end we are in the same boat, since we are all jewish. now with these proposed conversion factories, that would be history. a leftist may well be not jewish at all and maybe truely my enemy. why should i fight to defend him? why should i not fight him like i would an arab?? furthermore, the more religious will not accept these shotgun conversions and we will have 2 israels - forming a permanent division. this is a very bad idea createed by people who seek out very bad ideas
11. THIS IS A DEMOCRACY?
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (11.04.13)
Israel has the right to make its own laws but spare us the hypocricy and stop calling the "Jewish State" a democracy. It a religious/tribal based state where people vote.
12. conversion
Jeffrey Brock ,   Knoxville Tn   (11.04.13)
I will be what you are, I will eat what you eat, I will go where you go, I will be as you are, I will worship ONLY who you worship... can't get any more committed than that.
13. Encouraging start
Tim ,   Brighton   (11.04.13)
I am no Rabbinical Scholar But there must be more empathetic and sympathetic ways to interpret the Laws that address conversion And there must be ways to promote greater dialogue between the spectrum of orthodoxy in Judaism I hope that where Israel Leads the UK will follow
14. #8 Sean Green
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (11.04.13)
If you are serious, contact the Chabad in Pasadena. Just type in google "Chabad Pasadena" and you will find their website and phone number. They can either help you learn, or direct you to a local Rabbinical court.
15. separate religion from state
nadav ,   tlv   (11.04.13)
These politicians are delusional if they think they can find a middle path to legislating religion. Religion should NEVER mix with government and politics. For example, why does the State still NOT recognize Conservative and Reform rabbis, conversions or even congregations, even though at least 80% of world Jewry are a part of these two movements?!
16. Judaism will soon cease to exist as an ethnicity
Ehud ,   Tampa   (11.04.13)
It will not be an ethnicity as massive assimilation by uninterested Jews which is currently taking place will be answered by converting anybody who wants to be ¨Jewish¨ in order to save Judaism. It will not be a religion either, since new converts will be accepted to the ¨club¨ solely for the purpose of saving Judaism and will not be in effect pressured to practice the religion at all, probably not even get circumcised. I see Judaism in the future basically as a cult, an association, like the Branch Davidians and the Bildeberg group whose only purpose will be to distinguish it´s members from non members and to give them a supposed sense of supremacism and elitism.
17. okays bill to support conversion to Judaism
Joseph Beneliezer ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.04.13)
I fail to see the wisdom of Government interfering in a religious process. The infighting among the religious authorities is not a place for politicians to interfere. The core of the problem is the fact that a civil government allows religious courts headed by religious authorities that are governed by religious laws have a civil standing and exclude elected representatives having sway in their affairs.
