2. TO THE AUTHORS OF THIS ARTICLE !
FO ,   Belgium   (11.04.13)
You wrote: "UN Resolutions 242 (which came in the wake of the 1967 Six-Day War) and 338 set as a prerequisite for “lasting peace in the region” territorial compromise between Israel and her neighbors". Well, resolution 338, after the Yom Kippur War, was also a reaffirmation of resolution 242, that does not speak about a "territorial compromise". Resolution 242 mentions "withdrawal from occupied territories" and not from THE occupied territories! I have got a question to both of you: do you know the author of UNSC resolution 242? I suppose you don't. The author was Prof. Eugene Rostow, Dean of the School of Law at Yale. He explained in articles he wrote (available on Internet) that Israel, in case of a peace treaty, would have to withdraw from the Sinai desert (than still in Israeli hands), because this desert never was part of the "Mandate for Palestine". Israel could not be requested to withdraw from any other territory, because of an irrevocable decision, voted by all the 51 members of the League of Nations in 1922, that gave the Jewish people the right to settle between the Sea and the Jordan River. A right that became international law, reaffirmed by Article 80 of the UN Charter. A law that never was rescinded and can't be rescinded. So there is no question of territorial compromise. Israel has not "TO GIVE BACK" territory to the Arabs, but in the worst case to "GIVE THEM" territory. Furthermore both of you wrote: .."The PLO (under Arafat) begrudgingly accepted 242..." This is of course untrue, because for the PLO accepting 242, would mean to relinquish any claim regarding the so called "territories".

4. The Arab Israeli conflict will not cease so long as the...
Hermon Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.04.13)
...Arabs - Muslim-Arabs, to be precise, not Christian-Arabs or Druze-Arabs, mind you!! - refuse to accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people. The conflict is not now and it has never been one having to do with territory. It essence is rather existential. The two cases of "peace treaties" that Israel reached, with Egypt and Jordan, clearly, have not materialized to normal peaceful relationships between states but rather to two separate cease fire agreements. Because even in Egypt and in Jordan Israel's RIGHT to exist as the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people is not acceptable.
5. who cares
(11.04.13)
Resolution 338 is no more than a guideline for a proposed peace agreement made in 1973. If one of the sides felt that meeting the resolution would damage their interests, they have no reason to follow it. Hamas that represents 80% of the Arabs considers its critical interest to genocide the Jews and is not obligated by 338. Fatah that represents about 20% of the Arabs considers any territorial compromise illegal and illegitimate, and any solution must include Arab rule over all of Israel so is not obligated by 338. Similarly, we are under no obligation to follow 338 if that would lead to Israel's destruction.

THE SO-CALLED ''PALESTINIAN PEOPLE/AUTHORITY'' CAN CHOOSE TO LIVE IN ISRAEL, TO ACCEPT THE JEWISH/ISRAELI PEOPLE, ON ISRAELI/ISRAELIAN TERRITORY/SOIL, TO HAVE A NATIONALITY/CITIZENSHIP, OR, FOR EXAMPLE, GO TO JORDAN, EGYPT, TO THE ARAB/ARABIAN PENINSULA AT THEIR OWN COST FINANCIALLY. 7. Only if Obama didn't inflame Islamic bloodthirsty instincts
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.04.13)
He is a danger to the Middle East Peace as well as to the world at large. America needs to get rid of Obama the enemy from within now, before he does more damage domestically and to US allies and there is a way to do it. Keep in mind that whenever Congress gets close to uncovering the truth about Benghazi Obama creates a new scandal or a crisis to divert attention from it. This on top of deliberately forbidding Patriot American witnesses to testify in Congress Committee hearings. Together with his not too subtle fondness of radical Islam this creates the very likely possibility that he is not only a closet Muslim but that he also had a major hand in planning the assassination of Ambassador Stevens. The known facts are as follows: 1. For months before the horrible event took place Obama ignores all security warnings and threats to Americans lives in Libya. 2. He orders Ambassador Stevens to go to Benghazi on the anniversary of 9/11. 3. He orders Ambassador Stevens to go to Benghazi with no meaningful security protection. 4. At the night of the attack he prevents a security unit from Tripoli to fly to Benghazi to try rescue Ambassador Stevens. 5. Most likely the CIA Special Forces in Benghazi in the separate compound were ordered by Obama to stand down too but they refused orders and rushed to help. This will be revealed when the witnesses will eventually testify. 6. As this was unfolding in real time in the State Department, Department of Defense, CIA and the White House he did nothing that night to send the Airforce or marines to attempt to attack the Jihadis. 7. For weeks after the event Obama claimed that a poorly made and little known video was to blame for what happened when he clearly knew this to be a lie. 8. The FBI did not arrive at the crime scene for weeks after the event when all evidence was destroyed and Obama did not pressure the Libyan government to let them get in immediately. 9. To this day not one of the participants or masterminds of the attack was arrested. This is an intentional act to avoid them spilling the beans under interrogation about Obama's involvement. If there were to be a Muslim mole in the White House he would take exactly such steps to execute such an operation and cover his tracks afterwards. Congress needs to get on top of it and this will lead to an impeachment, trial in the Senate and swift execution for treason.

9. Good article except
Larry ,   LA   (11.05.13)
There are those on the Israeli Left who believe not only that peace is possible with the Palestinians but they also believe in the Great Pumpkin (even though he did not come this year) and Santa Claus (who for certain will come down every child's chimney). The greatest danger to peace is not the hungry wolf but the stupid lambs. Those who believe peace is possible if we give just a bit more are the fools of our generation and we must be vocal in demanding that the Arabs give up something for peace and NOT us!!
10. Israel/Pal conflict was never central to mid-east instabilit
Shachar ,   Eilat   (11.05.13)
The conflict has always been a scapegoat to mask the real problems facing the dictatorships of the middle-east. In fact solving the conflict won't bring even an iota of stability to the rest of the region, therewis no connection between them. But that doesn't mean we don't have to solve the problem at our doorstep. The Pal problem is our problem and we will be the main beneficiary of the solution!
11. #10. Same as WW II Allie's solution to Nazi problem.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.06.13)
#10. Israel's solution to the "Palestinian" problem is exactly the same as the WW II Allies' solution to the Nazi problem. Total resounding victory with no concessions whatsoever.
12. To No. 11 Chaim
Bertram ,   London, UK   (11.07.13)
So, Israel should bomb Ramallah and Nablus just as the Allies bombed Berlin and Dresden. Yes? Or maybe use nuclear weapons? It sure brought an end to the war with Japan.
13. #12 Don't give Chaim encouragement!
