31. as far as i know this is not true
greene ,   us   (11.05.13)
Does any one know where to find statistics about this? I remember once seeing a claim that 60% of released terrorists return to terrorist activity but I can't find statistics for that at the moment either. Anyone know of any sources?
32. #31 reality vs narrative
(11.05.13)
Sane people work on reality. Reality shows the released murderers inspire new murderers and go back to terror if for no other reason than it is the only profession they are good at and it is very profitable. Leftists don't do reality they do narrative, a fantasy world where they are always right, and just and beautiful and their enemies are always evil and ugly. After years of using "rule of law" to attack Zionists, they now have a dissonance with releasing psychopath murderers convicted by their own Leftist courts. To overcome this dissonance, the Left need a new narrative to justify the release. Cue al-Ajrami with a bucket of lies that the Leftists need like a drowning man needs a life vest.
33. the problem of Arab Palestinians
tiki ,   belgium   (11.05.13)
They live in a fictional reality, believe in fantasies & talk nonsense. This ""minister of prisoners affairs" (who was elected by whom?) is a good example.
34. Arab definition peace. Act humble. Grab territory. Lie. Buil

Arab definition peace. Act humble. Grab territory. Lie. Incite homicidal violence. Build weapons. Attack. Annihilate.

36. Peace soon ?
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (11.05.13)
Is there any serious attempt of the Palestinians to understand the meaning of releasing prisoners as far as the Israeli's are concerned ? People in Palestine don’t understand that there is a national Israeli consensus on the issue of terrorists, who are perceived as murderers. When I see t, the organized festivals, for the returning murderers, I do not believe that with those people peace is possible.
37. is this ynet or al jazeera
daniel ,   BS - IL   (11.05.13)
whatever it is, it is an insult to reason and fairness. ynet turns quickly into oslo-like demonizing driffle. Why is the IL elite preparing the ground for another olso disaster?
38. Perverse !
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.06.13)
I Quote - People in Israel don’t understand that there is a national Palestinian consensus on the issue of prisoners, who are perceived as freedom fighters willing to sacrifice their life for the homeland – no matter what they did, and even if they acted against the leadership's stance and will. Comment - As in Nazi-Germany !. Arn.Sweden.

Funnily enough, in civilized society, we punish people for what they have done, not who they may -- or, more likely in the case of the ersatz "Palestinians" -- may not have become. I doubt your premise, and I very much doubt that freed murderers have had second thoughts. History actually proves that you are wrong. But that is not the issue. I do not care how peace-loving someone may have ALLEGEDLY become, they are in prison for the crime of murder, and prison is where murderers belong. Especially mass murderers. That said, feel free to introduce any one of these criminal terrorists to your daughters. I'm sure they'll make fine sons-in-law. Teach your daughter how to duck under a left jab or a right hook. A murderer is a murderer.

Unlike the vast majority of semi literate hotheads who think with their hearts and not with their brains, you have asked a fair question in a civilized manner. Last week I did see and hear one of these ex prisoners on Israeli TV. He spoke in favor of a peaceful solution to the conflict. This of course means nothing because as you might say "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" The only proof I can give you at present is this. More than two years ago 1027 Hamas terrorists were released in return for the release of Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped and held by Hamas for over five years. We were told by the right wing hotheads that this act will result in the killing of hundreds of Israelis. This forecast has not come about. Just as there are Jewish extremists always ready to attack and kill Palestinians, there are Palestinians who want to kill us. My wish is that the present Peace Talks lead to an agreement by which both sides will not be entirely satisfied, but will be able to live in peace.

Read your first sentence "Funnily enough, in civilized society,we punish people for what they have done ...." I don't know if it's any better in USA, but in Israel we have one law for Jews and another for Arabs. Remember the Jewish terrorist group from 1980? They killed and injured Palestinians, and were planning to blow up the mosque on the Temple mount. They were caught as they mined 5 Arab buses which would have been full of people on their way to Friday prayers. The leaders were sentenced to life imprisonment, but were all released within 7 years. I read an interview with two of the Palestinians released last week, they were active at about the same time as the "Gush Emunim" underground. While the Jewish Terror was a result of the "Camp David Accords" between Begin and Sadat, the Arab Terror was a result of the occupation. The two mentioned above were sentenced to life in prison for killing an Israeli soldier. After 28 years in prison they say that they want to live peacefully in a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
