1. Lets not be one sided
donsaliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (11.13.13)
Look it goes both ways, people who do not live on a Kibbutz, have been calling us on the Kibbutz some bad names. I have when in the army have been insulted and called a parasite among other things. Both sides have are guilty of racism, remember when you point a finger at someone, you have 3 fingers pointing at yourself. Things between Sedort and my Kibbutz have changed since I came here 43 years ago, for the better, so lets not take what one person did and blame the Kibbutz movement or the other way around. By the way, was this waitress a memeber of the Kibbutz or someone from Kiryat Shmona?
2. A sad story. Prejudice ugly. It also happens in the reverse.
Adi ,   Zurich   (11.13.13)
A sad story. Prejudice ugly. It also happens in the reverse. Russian alliya. They were stigmatized and brutally ostracized. Fear makes ppl categorize - prejudice. However the victim has to learn to have pity on the slanderer. The owners of the pub are not responsible for misguided behavior if the waitress. She was fired. Its enough
3. He forgot to mention the waitress was from Kiryat Shmona
Shachar ,   Eilat   (11.13.13)
And talk about blowing a silly incident way out of proportion. The term arsim is not connected to Kiryat Shmona. It refers to a certain dress style and mannerisms associated with a small number of Morrocans.
4. No big deal
Harry ,   Haifa, Israel.   (11.13.13)
Some are white trash and some are arsim, things dont change.
5. #4 Would you be so cavalier if I called you 'Jewish trash'?
David ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (11.13.13)
Easy for you to dismiss how these brown-skinned morrocan Jews feel. Your racist arrogance is borne out of privilege. Much like Jews were treated throughout the world for a long time - and in some places, still are. Funny how some people become just like their former oppressors as soon as they have the chance. You have no idea how those Jews feel like being attacked by racists and their apologists like yourself.
6. A small fire sparks a big disaster!!!!!!!
AVouskila ,   South America   (11.13.13)
Some talk backers are trying (despertly, so) to sweep this seemingle 'little incident' under a heavy Russian rug. Unfortunatly, if we really want to be practical, transparent and honest of what goings on in Israel, at various levels: Democracy equal to Legislative, Judiciary and Excutive: so who has the somehow exclusive power in all those branches of government in a Liberal Democracy, as we stubbornly insist in calling Israel?! well, you know who hold the rein of influence.....right! Now, multiply the small incident in Naot Mordecai (I was so proud of owning number of their sandals!) by whatever co-eficient, and you might come to realise that it is after all not an isolated case of a young lady going bad, but an immense see of contradictions in terms of Justice for all: the sad thing is we are talking, but not realising, that those young draftees are maybe the third or the fourth generations in Israel, while the young Lady, maybe just off the boat from Siberia?!, or maybe just maybe of a Moroccan descent but follows the going prejudices.
7. Author and #6 out of line
Naftush ,   Israel   (11.13.13)
It was a stupid and rude incident that doesn't deserve the cosmic importance given it in the article and by commenter #6. Look up Momi Dahan's recent study on ethnic gaps. Soon enough, G-d willing, no one will throw the term "Ars" around and no one will appear to fit it.
8. # 5
Harry ,   Haifa, Israel.   (11.13.13)
you have a very poor understanding of what I wrote. You should have understood that arsim come in all colours and from all races, but manifest their arsioot in different ways. I am sure that in Malmo for example, you could easily see this. That is if you opened your eyes.
9. what is wrong with being an arse?
michael Pielet ,   israel   (11.13.13)
I am an arse and proud of it.
10. There's plenty of arse-hats (wearing a black hat)
Non-KoolAid Drinker ,   DrinkyurownKoolAid   (11.13.13)
11. Boycott Naot shoes and sandals
bob ,   potomac, MD JUSA   (11.13.13)
Until the phony socialists at Neot Mordechai stop treating young people from Kiryat Shmoneh in such a demeaning way, we in the "rich diaspora" need to withhold purchasing any Naot shoes--including, and especially, those famous sandals. When we visit Israel, we can forego stopping by their factory, as can youth groups and tour groups.
12. Arsim behave in a vile manner.
Kolboynik ,   Baltimore   (11.13.13)
You find good and bad amoungst Ashkenazin and Spharadim alike. -- In Israel I witnessed when a Jew who was born in Germany was called a nazi. So that makes Albert Einstein a nazi too?
13. # 9
Ehud ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.13.13)
Thanks for the confirmation, it was rather like analysing hand writing.
14. The owner of the pub should have ripped up the bill
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (11.13.13)
15. to #12 there are arsim in other countries
lili   (11.14.13)
I had the privilege to meet one with his mobile and golden chain else where. he was proud of his ride. he even let us take picture of him with his car.
16. to #9 you r not arse, arse don't even know
lili   (11.14.13)
how to press a button to open the pc.
17. It's a 2 way street
arielush ,   ramat ha golan   (11.14.13)
My heart does not bleed. As a kibbutznik who has taught in Tiberias, Beit Shean and Katzrin I've seen both sides of the story. From my Tunisian students in Beit Shean I've heard gruesome tales of the DDT sprays of the 50's. I've heard countless stories of Ashkenazic arrogance etc. But I've also been the target of prejudice. In most of these places the word "kibbutznikit" is the worst insult. At religious schools I've been told kibbutznik jokes. So bigotry is two faced. I admit to being a bigot. Do you?
18. The owners of the pub have Moroccan roots.
nibor ,   israel   (11.14.13)
So, I think it invalidates the whole article. The owners are also kibbutzniks, hah!
19. #18, And the waitress?
Jake   (11.15.13)
This was never about the owners of the pub; it's about one waitress.
20. Enough already.
Stan ,   Israel   (11.15.13)
How long do people want to continue emphisizing the different ethnic groups? The mixing of cultures is strenghening Israeli society. The kibbutz I lived on until 24 years ago had members from about 20 different countries including Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon and Syria. As for Begin's populistic remark about the " millionaires and their swimming pools. He was using this as a ploy to get the Safardi Jews to vote for him. I never forgave him for that dirty remark. At that time we did not have telephones or refridgerators, and of course no private cars.We lived in small apartments and I usually worked between 50 to 60 hours a week in the fields. As for our "swimming pool", it also served as a reservoir to irrigate the crops and orchards and often did not have much water in it.
21. #19 all about the waitress?
nibor ,   israel   (11.15.13)
Hedonist kibbutzniks wanting Kyriat Shmona residents money all the while stigmatizing them? Only about the dumb waitress, who was from Kyriat Shmona and not from the kibbutz?
22. one more difference between the towns & the kibbutzinm
oferdesade ,   israel   (11.15.13)
the former can't sell their surrounding agricultural real estate for housing whereas the latter do... and it isn't even theirs!!
23. Stan #20, why would it work, unless it struck a chord?
Jake   (11.16.13)
"As for Begin's populistic remark about the " millionaires and their swimming pools. He was using this as a ploy to get the Safardi Jews to vote for him". Perhaps Begin made that remark, because he calculated (correctly) that it would strike a chord with many Sephardi/Mizrachi Jews, fed up with the snooty, supercilious attitude displayed towards them by the left-wing Ahskenazi elite embodied by many Kibbutzniks at the time. All politicians use ploys and make remarks that work to their advantage. The Mapai/Labor Party did much worse than that. And you know it.
