1. Hopefully a cure for the harideem is in sight
Debbie ,   Carmel   (11.20.13)
I truly belive these people can be cured from this mental illness known as "religion" and they can be brought back in to society and lead a normal life style.
2. "Tora Genius" defined solely by rote memory ability
Cyberbrain ,   Israel   (11.20.13)
which is FAR exceeded by gentiles at world memory championships. Therefore, they're bigger "Tora Geniuses" than the Haredim. All are dwarfed in "Tora Genius" by computer memories. Eventually, you'll have to deal with the need to redefine what it means to understand Tora and how different a true Tora Genius is from the Haredi idol -- I mean ideal.
3. This only shows that
Israeli 2   (11.20.13)
Haredim are as smart, logical and use common sense as everyone else. Not only Haredim join the Army for similar reasons.
4. This is exactly what happend to my kids.
Al   (11.20.13)
After our divorce the ex took the kids to Israel where she became uber frum to the point of being out of this world. The kids were brainwashed to believe the State was going to make them goyim. They got their awakening when they realized that Daddy Warbucks (me) wasn't going to finance their new schnorrer lifestyle. They got the message so they did what they had to do..enlist and get on their way to becoming menchin. They are doing quite well. Sometimes tough love with the emphasis on love is the only way.

If not for their religious grandparents all the leading Zionists would have been to all intents and purposes poles, germans etc. The fact that Israel exists is only down to Judaism, and if that is abandoned so will Israel be.
6. 45% of Haredi men are in the workforce
Akiva ,   NYC   (11.20.13)
The secular media give the impression that nil % of Haredi men are in the workforce. Numbers in national service, in higher education and in the workforce are constantly rising. Why generate a kulturkampf by criminalising Haredim, when they are making the necessary changes to share the burden? When there was conscription in the USA and UK even Satmar Hasidim took part, with Reb Yoelish ztl giving permission to remove their beards without using a straight razor to comply with military discipline.
7. Geee i guese they could always go get a job
Haim ,   TA   (11.20.13)
and get off their holy backsides and start contributing to the country, instead of waisting tax payers hard earnt money to fund this so called life style of theres. Only in Israel do they get away with it.
8. Absolutely-when they stop drinkin the zombium-laced Kool Aid
Cyberbrain ,   Israel   (11.20.13)
9. Ultras only 7%, not 10%. Don't inflate it

You clearly haven't got the foggiest clue. The ability to learn Talmud is dependent on being able to deduce, compare, analyse etc. etc.
11. great scholars?
jerri i ,   nyc   (11.20.13)
Whats wrong with being a great scholar in Talmud and being a Bill Gates? In Europe before the WW2 many of the great Rabbis had Ph.Ds. In fact, in the German world (the German states and the Austro-Hungarian Empire) had laws that would only allow a person to become a congregational rabbi if they had earned a Medical Doctor degree or a Ph.D.This info from an exhibit in YU museum on Jews in Mathematics.
12. Not so fast ,...
split ,   US   (11.21.13)
Here's a quote from a reliable source: "Most of these 'haredi' soldiers were no longer haredi when they enlisted or were never haredi to begin with. The vast majority are ba'al teshuvas, Zionist Orthodox and ex-haredim. The IDF and the rabbis of Nahal Haredi have been trying to hide this fact for years, and now is no exception"
