evelyn ,   petach tikva, israel   (11.12.13)
from a caregiver working here in israel, my heartfelt gratitude...
2. Relief Workers unprepaired!
Shmueli ,   Los Angeles, CA   (11.12.13)
Privately people in cities like Cebu are calling out frustrated that IsraAID sent medical teams and equipment, but no tents to work out of or generators to operate the medical tools. Medical staff is not very helpful if they cant work. We need to do more!
3. my heart goes out to the philipins,

hope for a calmer weather. hope this is the last mega storm.
4. Philippines disaster
Maurice ,   Montreal   (11.12.13)
We can't even start imagining the scale of the calamity that has struck this country. I saw images of large groups of children under 5 lost in the streets with no parents, no food, no home, crying and not understanding what is happening to them. When I think of these images I get tears in my eyes. The whole world should mobilize and help them and fast. This is very urgent.
5. As always Israel will lend a hand to
benjy   (11.12.13)
those who suffer these terrible disasters, and kudos to those other contries that are also quickly on the scene with aid. I do wonder if the "oil rich" countires are helping out???? My thoughts are also with the folks working in Israel from the Philippines, they must be going through a very bad time right now, especially those that may not have heard from their families. It is easy to say "be strong" but easier said than done. Prayers for the Philippines and couragous people.
6. Not a peep from the International media!
Ram ,   London   (11.12.13)
Practically every country that sent help is quoted...EXCEPT for Israel!
7. JOINT DISTRIBUTION COMMITTEE - ISRAELI CHARITY IS HELPING
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (11.12.13)
If you want to donate money, the Joint Distribution is the largest Jewish charity, based in Israel. It is an international organization & has sent relief teams to the Phillipines.
8. #6-- what have we heard about
arne ,   chicago usa   (11.12.13)
the Syrian refuges or wounded fighters that come to Israel for treatment? What about the sick in gaza or the west bank arabs? forget it , what Israel does might very well go unappreciated.like they say in the mama lushen" a zay gatez"
9. Israeli sid
Emma ,   London   (11.12.13)
Of course at the end if it all the Israel haters will say the only reason they are helping is so they can harvest body parts! I dont see many Muslim or Arab countries rushing to provide aid.
10. No one will thank us
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, ON, CAN   (11.12.13)
This past August I was in Ottawa on a trip. While visiting the Museum of Civilization (on the Quebec side) I got into conversation with a young Haitian man. Well-dressed, articulate and affable, the young fellow told me of family losses in the Haitian earthquake of Jan. 12, 2010. I asked him if he knew of the aid sent to help the beleaguered Haitian people. He knew that the U.S. sent "something". I told him that the first country to send a field hospital to Haiti was Israel. Not only food and blankets (which were needed) but also skilled doctors and surgeons to help the wounded (even a special dog to help sniff out the bodies stuck under piles of rubble--dogs like these saved lives) when the U.S. and Canada were wringing their hands, Israel was there. This lad had no idea. I told him to check online. He was bemused. Now the Philippines. Many Ph. folk will never know Israel sent help. The media will never mention it. The Arab media will mention it only to discredit us (they'll say we're practising germ warfare or harvesting organs or some such rot). Why help then, when no one will appreciate it? Because it's the right thing to do. We don't help for the gratitude, we help because it's needed and we have the expertise. (But don't expect any thanks).
11. I sympathize with the Philippines
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.12.13)
I hope that the Philippines will soon recover and that they will heal their wounds, rebuild their country and get back to a normal life and I am proud that Israel helps their country when they are in need. I also wonder when international mass media will report that Israel has aided Haiti, Turkey, Japan, China, Philippines and other nations struck by national disasters. I also wonder why "Palestinians" and Iran are not sending any aid to the Philippines. I am asking this sarcastic question because if we read European and international mass media we are led to believe that Israel is Jack the Ripper and "Palestinians" and Iran are spiritual pacifist peace loving people living in absolute harmony with nature.
12. Tell the survivors who are diabetics and can't get insulin
Rivkah   (11.13.13)
to drink cinnamon tea for blood sugar control. It is not likely the looters stole the cinnamon in the stores but it is possible. That is what diabetics need until they can get insulin.
13. #12 Tea is not much good without water
Robert ,   Australia   (11.13.13)
14. Saudi Arabia leads the world in rescue aid
A ,   Belgium   (11.13.13)
with $75,000. Pathetic, I would love to see a terrible disaster strike those diaperhead bastards. Even the wealthiest, most corrupt oganization on earth, the Catholic church, did better, "generously" donating $115,000.

Rivkah   (11.13.13)
who wrote "God's War on Terror" believe Saudi Arabia is Babylon that burns and is destroyed in a day. There won't be much left to help when that happens.
16. 13 Robert, Australia: There is lots of water that is safe if
Rivkah   (11.13.13)
it is boiled. 200 mph winds and floods brought a LOT of WATER into the area in addition to what was already there. Boil it and add some cinnamon and stir it and drink it if diabetic. Cinnamon is easier to come by than insulin in a disaster.
17. #16 Boil it?
Robert ,   Australia   (11.14.13)
I suppose there is a certain amount of heat that could be generated by focusing the sun through a magnifying glass.
18. 17 Robert, Australia: The storm is past and there is lots
Rivkah   (11.15.13)
of sunshine in the P.I. There are pieces of aluminum strewn about that can be used as a sun oven if a black boiling pan is used to absorb the heat from the aluminum beneath it and on the sides that reflect the sun to the black pot. Voila! Boiled water. There are pipes from wells that are exuding water that is probably not salt water which can be boiled for drinkable water and for dipping dirty clothes into to clean them without soap. Can't start a fire? Find a battery, even a small AAA and put a piece of aluminum foil from end to end, a strip of foil that touches both ends of the battery. Voila! Fire appears in the middle of the aluminum foil strip to light a small twig to light more twigs and a fire is started. But a sun oven does not need a fire to work. Just a black pot. Don't have a black pot? Paint one black. Should be some old paint cans around that the lids did not come off of in the storm.
19. 17 Robert, Australia: Aluminum foil on the inside of a card
Rivkah   (11.15.13)
board box with the black (on the outside) pan with water in it will boil water, too. Eggs can be fried on the trunk of a vehicle in the sun if available or in a black (on the outside) pan in the sun oven. People are dunned for money to buy sun ovens for poor Africans who won't leave drought areas and prefer to starve to death than to move. By the way, 2/3 of western Australia will shortly be under the Pacific Ocean, so if you don't live in the eastern third, it would be a good idea t o move there. Oceans are rising and will peak at 250 feet or nearly so above current sea levels after the Pole shift completes its 3600+ year cycle which is expected to happen next year. The earth with wobble like a drunkard and there will be raging of the seas and tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and wars, famine, pestilence and deaths from wild animals.
