1. "Poor infrastructure"
Jake   (11.18.13)
From my experience, the roads in the North, where much of Israel's Arab population resides, are excellent - provided one does not go careering around sharp bends in mountainous terrain at 120 kmh. Reckless driving down blind alleyways inside towns also tends to promote accidents, no matter how good the quality of the infrastructure. I find it curious that in the list of reasons provided by this mayor for the high number of traffic fatalities in the Arab sector, he failed to list driving habits.
2. I knew it for years, how the hell did Meretz let this get out

It's the Jews fault.
5. What about the 55% left?
(11.18.13)

7. #5
Dagan   (11.19.13)
Answer: non-Arabs. And considering there are *many* diverse peoples living in Israel, that 50% are a single people is troubling.
8. They should stick to camels and donkeys; not cars and trucks
Bob ,   Minneapolis   (11.19.13)
Much safer and slower for everybody.
9. How many "accidents" are really Jihad-on-wheels?
Johnny ,   NY   (11.19.13)
forgot to mention deliberate killing of Jews...
10. 55%
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (11.19.13)
So, Ynet, tell us who are the 55% who are not Arabs? don't make me guess that they are Jewish Israelis 'cause that's too simple. So why cry for the 45% and not the 55%?
11. You're forgetting one thing
Jaren ,   Jerusalem   (11.19.13)
And it is that the arabs are a minority in in this country, hence this is unusual that they take such a big part of the total accidents on the road. But go figure - it makes a perfect sense for me.

What a stupid remark!!!

14. Poor Number Skills in some Talkbacks
David N. ,   Haifa, ISRAEL   (11.19.13)
Arabs are not half the population, but around 18%. So, being half of the serious accidents means that ON THE AVERAGE Jews cause far less serious accidents. It is a question of propotions. A number here do not seem to have a grasp of basic math here. This doesn't need to be a "WE-THEY" issue. But reducing accidents does need to continue as a priority. Jewish accident rates are down, but both Jewish and Arab lives are equally sacred and worth preserving.
15. #5 and #10 - 25% of the population causing 45% of
brl ,   israel   (11.19.13)
fatal accidents is very troubling. Statistic analysis at its basic.
16. Regrettable
A Simple Yid ,   Tel Aviv   (11.19.13)
Driving stupidly is a choice. It is a pity that these poor drivers will hurt innocent people. The article says the problems are "cultural"--a most delicate phrasing of this problem.
17. They would have a better outcome in accidents if they
Rivkah   (11.19.13)
worshipped Yahovah and prayed in the name of His Son Yahoshua. I do and I have walked away from accidents caused by others that were not possible to survive in according to police and insurance adjusters. Same with my husband. Pope Francis I and many church leaders of other denominations say Allah is Jehovah (Yahovah) but that is not true since Allah did not have a Son.
18. Arab Drivers
David ,   Ness Zionna   (11.20.13)
"Arab mayor says high number of Arab fatalities caused by poor infrastructure, harsh economic situation" Sell this rubbish abroad. Arabs drive like maniacs with no regard for the law.
