1. Not only Arabs are humiliated. Security staff is arrogant!
Gavriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (11.22.13)
Foreign Jews, i.e. non Israeli citizens, converts, Christians are also subject of a similar treatment. I'm Jewish, and I was treated like a shit, despite of several flights made to Israel before. They didn't care of my Zionist background and synagogue affiliation. Just because I asked back, they became angry and threatened me that they wouldn't allow me on board if I make questions. I never had such a treatment before. The EL AL security's method and way of communication with passengers is often humiliating and frightening even outside of Israel, on foreign airports. These people are trained to 'test" passengers but in the mean time, they forget about being "ambassadors" of the State of Israel. Antisemitic feelings may be reinforced after an Israel tour, where a non-Jewish traveler is approached by security personal in an unfriendly, arrogant style. I know lots of gentile tourists who went to Israel the first time and decided not to repeat the travel again, due to the arrogance of EL AL security staff.

3. Israel style
(11.22.13)
When I was living abroad flying was always a pleasure. Now I am here, every time I fly out of Israel is a stressing and degrating experience. The BG staff has to be taught some manners. Every airport in the world has to deal with security. I travel all over the world, going through most sensitive airports and I am always checked thoroughly but with respect. Only here I feel abused. I have already lodged two complains at the police against BG staff for violation of privacy and abuse of trust.
4. Checks
Oleg ,   Canada   (11.22.13)
My wife is Israeli Jew and was checked vigorously at TLV airport, so nearly missed a transcontinental flight. The only thing they haven't done is sitting her at Gino chair. So what's the fuss? With all due respect I believe that person in question is decent human being. However unfortunately he belongs to a group of people with high risk of offending. It's not fair to him, but it's better safe than sorry.
5. Very familiar
Reuven ,   Netana   (11.22.13)
If your jewish you can go through without too much hassle, however if you are not ... You are treated as a terrorist. It's a disgrace, I admit that the behavior at BG is disgusting. The security has obviously a priority but they take it too far, seen it countless times.
6. No problem.
Beary White ,   Norway   (11.22.13)
To my knowledge the reason for the increased check, was an arab. And those who make the most threat against aircarriers are..arabs. Who make the most threats against busses...arabs. So, those first to be checked thoroughly must be ...arabs. Fair and simple..in every country.! and it is not because air-liners are racists, --no, It is because the islamic followers behaviors, and don't give a shit for human life.
7. All is a secutity risk
Rie olsen bali ,   Denmark   (11.22.13)
Sad for the arabic man, but 99 % of terrorist in the last 2 years is "muslim". Sad but true
8. utopia
Ron ezoory ,   usa   (11.22.13)
In an ideal world we would not have to worry that somebody would want to take down a plane. In our world there r people who would so we must choose life and be thorough and the system is not perfect because fear of suicide bomber a will make us do overprotective security at times. I feel bad for the man but ask his understanding do to all the suicide bomber out there.
9. Saving Lives
Ynet Reader ,   London, UK   (11.22.13)
In April 1986, at Heathrow Airport in London, Israeli security guards working for El Al airlines found 1.5 kilograms of Semtex explosives in the bag of Anne-Marie Murphy, a five-month pregnant Irishwoman attempting to fly on a flight with 375 fellow passengers to Tel Aviv. In addition, a functioning calculator in the bag was found to be a timed triggering device. She claimed to be unaware of the contents, and that she had been given the bag by her fiancé, Nezar Hindawi, a Jordanian.... She had already succeeded in passing British Security (why should they be suspicious of a pregnant women who had no idea she was carrying a deadly bomb like the one which caused the Lockerbie tragedy. Thank God for Israeli security who know that they can not afford to take chances. Yes it is unfortunate that innocent people have to suffer, so that we are all safe, but there is no alternative. Who knows, maybe if there had been more strict security on the 9/11 planes, tragedy could have been averted. Keep it up Ben Gurion Security. We need you to keep vigilant!!
10. Stop the terror, first!
michael Pielet ,   israel   (11.22.13)
Security, human life is precious. Thank you, Ben Gurion Airport security.
11. Terrorists are Watching
Ron ,   oc us   (11.22.13)
The minute that BG personnel relax standards EL AL will be a target. It is too bad the Israeli courts who are notorious for not protecting Jews gets to weigh in on this. Give the Arab a discount on his next ticket if you must but don't relax security.
12. Not all Arabs are terrorist but all terrorist are Arabs
Mark ,   Miami fl   (11.22.13)
Unfourtenatly the good Arab Pepole are suffering because of there own Pepole and instead of blaming there own Pepole who have no value in life and kills on a daily basis there own brothers and sisters for stupid political reasons throughout the world, they instead blame the pepole who see value in life and trying to protect there own well being and of thier country and unfourtenatly it's verry hard to saparate the good from the bad.
13. Give me El Al, give me our way of doing security "business"
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.22.13)
every time! There must be a reason, why our services are very in demand all over the world. If you want PC-neutrality & pretense, that everyone is equally a potential terrorist go and fly from the clueless USA. And yes: I wouldn't be surprise if one day, by sheer honest mistake they shoved a camera up my derriere at BG, so what??!
14. So what?
Jerome ,   AKL   (11.22.13)
I travel with a New Zealand passport and I am still undergoing security checks, whether in the US, Europe or even New Zealand. My passport states " born in Casablanca" . Jew or not Jew, Casablanca is enough to trigger the alarm in the airport security system anywhere in the world. I understand it and even make a joke about it: " This painful process was invented by Muhamed and this screening machine by Moskovitch" Unfortunately they don't know which arab is going to blow the plane next, so for his safety and other passengers safety , he is checked, you are checked and I am checked. Move on....
15. #4,#5 it has nothing to do with jewishness
ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (11.22.13)
it has to do with profiling and risk assessment. If you are Arab, congrats you belong to the riskiest group. wanna guess why? foreigners are also considered risky, although not as much as Arabs! It really has to do with your body language, and how you interact with the security staff. This is the reality our neighbors have forced upon us, and as long as the current procedures keep working, don't expect them to change. sorry for any inconvenience!
16. America
Ron ,   Canada   (11.22.13)
my Israeli wife forgot to renew her 10 year visa and entered the states at a border crossing. She was fingerprinted and sent home at midnight with me and our 3 young children. They did nto tell us that each time she entered America by air she would be taken for secondary screening. She had obtained her renewal visa and was told all was well. It took 5 years to fix the problem - we missed many flights due to this nonesense. We were treated poorly by the Americans and sat for many hours in secondary screening and made to feel like we had done something wrong, had something to hide and were spoken to like we were in fact criminals. I had one agent yell at my kids to get out of her way when they were playing near a door she had exited. Nice.
17. Nothing new.
On the Balcony   (11.22.13)
Once upon a time I flew El Al as a matter of principle, prudence, and pride. No more.
18. Arrogant "security theatre"
spyguy ,   seattle   (11.22.13)
The REALITY is none of arrogant "security theatre" in BG and other points of exit and entry in Israel actually improve the security, but simply make a lot of people angry. I would never travel to Israel for the simple reason I can go to any other country on earth with a lot less hassle. If I ever have a business meeting with someone in Israel, either they would meet me in Europe or we would use Skype. There is no reason strong enough to ever subject myself to the well documented paranoid arrogance of Israeli travel security.

What you can expect? Most of them failed to reach final destination to any US shopping mall and sell fake Dead Sea products.
20. No need
Anshel ,   Canada   (11.22.13)
My advice is that never do the others what you don't wish the other do to you. Thorough security can be performed without humiliation, most passengers to Israel or on El Al flights understand it and no one complains. But needless power trips by security officials who have all the powers, need not to be allowed abused. There is no need for resentment. Would be an Israeli happy, if he or she was subjected to a needless humiliation at the airport abroad, just because of the Jewishness? I don't thinks so. Security personnel can be tough, thorough, even suspicious, but there is no need to abuse.

it is the fact that "they take it too seriously" that you are alive today to talk about it. hameed aboughaze, iranian
22. Security personal
Edward ,   Montreal Canada   (11.22.13)
I don't know why are we complaining security people I've been At Ben gurion airport always as being polite and nice to me Israel Security is the best in the world I feel safe for myself and my family This is the only thing that count
23. they got me too
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (11.22.13)
when I was leaving LAX after a visit there, I was standing in line behind two Arabs who were talking in Arabic. The two Arabs went through the check with out any incident. I, an old retired man, was told to take off my shoes, 'spread out' my limbs, got a gropping check, then was told to go into a room where I was told to remove much of my clothing and endured another physical search. All of this while my baggage was opened and tossed about looking for some dangerous item. I asked them why me? They said it has to do with numbers and they threatened me that if I refused to cooperate, there would be more problems. I finally made it to the plane after a long and humiliating delay and nothing was missing except for my dignity.
24. war is hell, isn't it? then make peace Pali

25. good job by security
steve ,   netanya israel   (11.22.13)
I can travel easier knowing the good job the airport security do. some people forget WHY such security is necessary...because of his fellow arabs who have blown up planes. dont blame the Israeli security, blame your own ppeople who caused this
26. special treatment
rm ,   NL Amsterdam   (11.22.13)
Years ago my sister went from Bangkok via Tel Aviv to Amsterdam with El-Al. In Bangkok she received kind of the same special treatment this man got. Including the taking of her handluggage. It seems that on every flight a few people are selected for this special treatment. It literally made my sister sick. There was no explanation..no apologies afterward...nothing. It just...happened. It also happens to be that never again will she fly with El-Al under any circumstance...that is ofcourse the flipside of this excessive checks carried out by arrogant personel
27. need for checks
rm ,   NL Amsterdam   (11.22.13)
The need for checks should be coupled with sensitivity and a friendly but businesslike attitude. Not by intimidating arrogant bullies. And there's a very fine line between securityconcerns and pure harassment. And the latter was what the businessman got I think....

Jerome ,   Basalt, Colorado   (11.22.13)
I have taken El Al 8 times to Israel and have never been treated poorly. They ask some questions and do the job they are supposed to do and have always treate me with respect. I like that they take their job serioulsly. Maybe you should not act arrogantly and be a smart ass to them for doing their job!
29. #3 how arrogant you are!
Ilan ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.22.13)
traveling the world going through the most sensitive airports? what the blah blah blah are you taking about? NO other airport in the world has to deal with the Dangers BG does! NONE! Violation of privacy? WHAT, they wanted to look though your iPad? National Security Trumps your privacy. the lives of 400+ passangers trumps your privacy. you don't like it? don't fly to Israel! you need to get to gaza or the west bank? go though Egypt or jordan, and feel free to complain if your rights get violated there, and see how long you sit in jail without even getting charged!!!!
30. Its not only Arabs
Martin ,   Eilat   (11.22.13)
Its not just arab citizens but also other non jewish members of Israel society that are treated like dirt at the airports on external or internal flights. That is one of the reasons when I fly to Europe or anywhere else its through Jordan or Egypt and don't use internal fights.I have been harrasest to many times.
