1. The saving grace . . .
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (11.30.13)
The saving grace is that the Defense Minister and the PM have publicly condemned this offensive behaviour. The Negev situation with the Bedouin can generate similar bad will. As we know first hand, minorities can be very sensitive and we must be twice as careful.
2. The question really is: WHY?
Israeli 2   (12.01.13)
We know it was because they are Druze. Was Vanunu also a Druze? Did the officer in charge mistake them for being Bedouin, perhaps? I applaud the PM, but more must be done. Something very real must come out of this. It should not be repeated ever.
3. Yellow Star of David continues with non-Jew Israeli ID Cards
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.01.13)
4. They should be treated as more than equals
(12.01.13)
As they are non Jews laying their lives on the line for the one Jewish state. Even some Jews in Israel are not prepared to do that , far from it.
5. Discrimination
max ,   washington dc   (12.01.13)
I know how the Druze feel as I was denied entry into Saudi Arabia as a USAF crewmembersolely because I am Jewish. Bibi should set an example for all to follow and apologize the Brave Druze IDF soldiers
6. I hope that the defenders from the earlier

9. The real lesson
Allan ,   USA   (12.01.13)
Druze have been serving in the idf for almost 50 years and they are not treated as equal. That's a fact. How many Druze pilots are there? Or maybe they cannot meet standars of being in such position? The real lesson here should be for the Druze not for the state or defense ministry of Israel.
10. #9 that's a fact!
Ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (12.01.13)
chocolate is better than peanut butter, thats a fact! windows mobile is better than IOS, that's a fact! you see what i did there? just because you slap the words " that's a fact!" on the end of a statement, doesn't mean its an actual fact! Druze ARE treated equally in the IDF, and in Israel. Just the mere fact, that they CAN become pilots if they want it and are good enough, speaks more than counting how many druze pilots there are in the IDF! what does it matter how many, how is that an indicator of equal treatment? what Gall do you have from all the way over there thinking you know what goes on all the way over here? racism still exists, what can you do? unlike our neighbors, we don't incite it institutionally and we condemn it where and when ever it happens, just like in the article!
11. Welcome to the rascist state
Mia   (12.01.13)
12. I was a soldier and denied!
Alex ,   London   (12.01.13)
I was a lone soldier a couple of years ago, and when my unit did a two week stint in Dimona i was told that I would not be allowed to go as instead had to stay by myself on another base. So the IDF were happy to entrust me with an M16 and send me to war to die, yet not to go anywhere near their textiles factory in Dimona
13. The real story ...
Jon S. ,   Virginia, USA   (12.01.13)
An incident of discrimination occurred at the field level. When the top echelons of the Israeli leadership learned of it, they unanimously condemned it, ordered it investigated, apologized, and vowed not to repeat it. Once again, I'm proud of you, Israel.
