1. Anti Zionist hypocrisy of ACRI and co
No Zoabi ,   israel   (12.02.13)
Mr Michael pretends to forget that his Association lost an appeal in Jaffa against a building project devised for jews. That's because for him and his cronies, it was racist building for jews, but human and legal building only for arabs. That for showing the ACRI appalling self hatred. Regarding his other suggestions, he needs to remember that in others countries Bedouins are being transferred forcibily to towns, without any settlement with governments. And, above all, Mr Michael, these protesters aren't enemies in their own State. They are a FIFTH COLUMN in a State they REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE. Let's you be quite, Mr Michael. Not all Israeli arabs are like them, either not all of us are like YOU. But there won't be any space for treason. Stick up it in your mind.
2. One law for all
Carl   (12.02.13)
So you'd have no problem with me going into a national park and building a house? The bedouin are citizens of the country and the land use laws should apply to them the same as everyone else.
3. Bedouins are incited by certain NGOs
Alexander Scheiner ,   Jewish State israel   (12.02.13)
Bedouins used to live in peace in Israel. In Israel they have more rights then in any other arab or islamic country. Simply because of political reasons, certain leftist Israeli NGOs are inciting Bedouins against Israel. In fact, a Bedouin is a person who does not own land. Israeli Bedouins gave up nomadic live many years ago. The NGOs inciting Bedouins against Israel must be punished. rememberamalek.blogspot
4. A population with historical rights?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (12.02.13)
The Negev was before 1947, a wasteland with no landowners, as 98% of the area was unregistered. However the real issue is that the beduin population of Israel, including Galilee, did not exceed 18,000 people, who thanks to a flooding birthrate grew up to 210,000. Demography is a weapon, but does not create rights, and is a fundamental obstacle to a traditional way of life based upon nomadism in an empty desert.
5. The Judeo-Quisling, Michael quotes "Dawn of History",
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.02.13)
no less! It takes a particularly die hard leftist to be that brazen...But in the end they all are!
6. Great, when can I get my 10 dunams in the Negev?
Tahl   (12.02.13)
I don't recall my family getting any free land in Israel. They had to work hard to buy their real estate. Why should the Bedouins be any different? They never owned any of these lands, only appropriated them by squatting. Either put them in towns like all of us Israelis, or give us ALL free land in the Negev. One law for all citizens.
7. Waving pal flag inside of Israel-and not an enemy ?????
ab   (12.02.13)
8. Bedouin does not own land.
(12.02.13)
That is the starting point.
9. best response is take a hike
michel   (12.02.13)
take a hike. if israel leaves, syria will move right in, eliminate abbas and zohar and install their own leadeship and force residents to pay syrian taxes and swear allegiance to the house of assad-otherwise death. In the meantime israel continues to elect weak submissive idealists like hezog, olmert, livni, gal on, lapid with beggars cup in hand runnning to the US to help save poor israel. Wake up-israel has lots of power and should start using it.
10. Before you throw your stones...
Harri ,   EU   (12.02.13)
Remember that because of Israeli laws, every Bedouin in Negev has born in Israel, when most of you who write here are not born in Israel. Most of you who support government when Israel expels Bedouins from their homes in Israel, protested government when Israel forced Jews living in Gaza to move back to Israel. But on the other hand... If you build settlements for Bedouins and support them as much as you support Jewish settlers, I'm sure they will cooperate.
11. Burning Hearts
AR<>Ashkelon   (12.02.13)
1. This is a land that belongs to all citizens of Israel, including Jews. 2. The goal is to improve the living standard of all citizens including Beduins. 3 You can not live a lifestyle of the 14century and demand from the same state a 21 century infant mortality rate. 4. Dr. Begin is no less noble and gentelman than any respected Beduin in the negev or Mr S. Michael from elsewhere in the country. 5. The flag of this country has a geometry that does not resemble the geometry of an enetity that has not reconised this country - waving such a flag makes non recognition reciprocal from the state of Israel. 6. Law, order and basic human justice are the soul of a democracy and they should be practiced by all citizens including Jews. 7. Historic rights are a slogan. But if there are Beduin families that have an Osmanic "tapu" or "kushan" (called wrongly "tabu"), they should be considered and regarded, although Israel is no longer part of the Osman Empire. 8. A state has the right to take land for public use and landowners (if ther are such) must be fairly compensated. 9. There are times that cold, calculated words can bring more comfort than revolutionary calls and tunes for obejction played by hot burning hearts.
12. #10 You suggest, reasonably, that
Shalom ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.03.13)
"If you build settlements for Bedouins and support them as much as you support Jewish settlers, I'm sure they will cooperate." The Prawer Plan proposes to do exactly that, with most of the Bedouin given land where they are and the rest elsewhere nearby. Unfortunately, most of those who are screaming about the plan are unaware about its details or misled by lies spread about it.
13. Bedouins in Negev since dawn of history??
Zev ,   Israel   (12.03.13)
Give me a break!
14. Prawer plan can only help the bedouin
zionist forever   (12.04.13)
The Bedouin might not be happy about this new bill thats going to be moving them but long term it can only help them. How can poverty get any worse than it is in these illegal villages where the roof of a house is tin shack and they ar enot collected to the electricity grid? That is poverty. Moving them to purpose built settlements will mean investment in infrastructure, the building of proper homes and probably more jobs. Bedouin might consider nit racism and an attempt to change their traditional way of life but they cannot continue to build illegally and they will benefit. If the government doesn't pass this bill then its going to be much more difficult to develop the Negev which must be done considering the population is growing and the big cities are becoming more and more expensive to live in because there is only limited space to build in the centre.
