The Etiopian olim need secular integration. A religious embracement can hurt them. The community must enter modernity with tender loving guidance. No one should be left back. Young and old can undergo integration in a playing manner. Do not waste money. Keep it simple. Hand on language and ambitious general education may prevent them from slipping into a criminal path.

The problem is that most Ethiopians have been brought to Israel with the idea of being Jewish. At arrival they have been put in an absorption center while trying to integrate and doing a Giyur (conversion) because they aren't actually considered Jewish. That must be hard to take in. No wonder people get confused and frustrated.
