1. Thank you Boaz for speaking up
Non Jewish Immigrant ,   Haifa   (12.04.13)
Israel is made up of minorities. Even the Jewish majority is made of minorities. I am glad that some from the majority speaks about us too!
2. Excellent piece
GR ,   London   (12.04.13)
Well done for speaking out!
3. Excellent but too bad
Reuven ,   Netanya   (12.04.13)
The majority here will renounce your opinion because of their shortsightedness.
4. Leftwing Usefull Idiocy !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (12.04.13)
In Sweden it has gone so long that the ruling Authoritys for the sake of Political corecktness, has to hide the truth about what the Foreighners are doing in Sweden. Of cause its Natural in a homogen Group to notice those not belonging to it, this is not Racism. There is no cause or reason for Jews to believe in another etnocity as such. Arn.Sweden.
5. The analogy is inapposite
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.04.13)
People acting in solidarity on a flight is not exactly the same as foregoing genuine security concerns with respect to admission to Dimona. Many Druze are quite loyal to the State of Israel. Many Druze are not. Many have, in fact, been prosecuted for selling information to Israel's enemies. Think of it this way -- do you think that the average American -- even a direct descendant of people who arrived on the Mayflower -- would be allowed in to the NSA in Fort Meade? Hell, even at Langley, certain floors are simply off-limits to people who have access to other floors. At the Pentagon as well. National security trumps all; genuine patriots would understand and will not be offended, whether in the United States, Israel or any place else. Now please explain how national security relates in a cogent manner to a service dog not being allowed on a flight -- in complete violation of NTSB rules, I might add. That's right. It doesn't.
6. Willful Blindness
Chana ,   U.S.   (12.04.13)
This is a short-sighted article not taking in the realities of where Israel is located and what she deals with daily. Look at some of the other articles in Ynet, itself, which describe the constant murderous attacks on Jewish Israelis by Arabs. This article, truly shows a lack of depth, intelligence and honesty. It is a shallow, feigned attempt at pretend empathy.
7. #5
(12.04.13)
You miss one thing: the average Druze is far safer for Israeli security than the average Jewish Leftist.
8. it is NOT racism
nadav ,   tlv   (12.04.13)
Racist policies, like those carried out by Nazi Germany, its allies or by Apartheif era South Africa nd Rhodesia were based on a racist ideology. THere is NO racist ideology behind this rather unfortunate incidences, which are a direct result of the security situation, i.e. Islamic-Arab racist and warmongering against Israel and Jews (as well as others btw). In other words, if there were no threats to Israel' security, getting into and out of Israel would be no more complicated than in any other Western, democratic country. Unfortunately, thanks to our "friendly" neighbors and their allies, this is NOT the case. So until then, please be patient and do come for a visit, it is totally worthwhile!
9. Nr 5. Yes - I Quote -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (12.04.13)
National security trumps all; genuine patriots would understand and will not be offended Comment - Concerning all security - even security personel - must not know or have access to more, than they need to know or have access to, to be able to do what they shall. This is the Common approach to Security in the whole World. Arn.Sweden.
10. I agree with 5 and 9 completely, BUT...
Israeli 2   (12.04.13)
it sounds strange to me that the only ones excluded among all the air-force guys in the bus happened to be the only 3 Druze. Do you infer that all the Jewish soldiers have security clearance and those 3 Druze do not? If so, why put them in the bus to begin with? I still do not see the reasoning here unless it is religious profiling.
11. Right on! (Also # 6 & 8)
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.04.13)
The article is correct and well written. #5 - These are Druze that are serving in the IDF. They are not against the State. The opposite. They are serving the State. #6, 8 - Druze are NOT Arabs!
12. Non Jews are bigger Racists.
Lior ,   Jerusalem   (12.04.13)
Go to Home Center or Super Pharm. If you are an Arab you get a 10 percent discount on your purchases. Non Jews are attacking infants in cars with intent to kill by throwing stones threw the windows. They admit that they are doing it because they hate Jews.
13. A balance
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.04.13)
National security is vital. No argument here. However, this is not a zero sum issue since total security can only be achieved in a dictatorial totalitarian state. Israel claims to be a democracy and, as such, it needs to strike a balance between national security and the requirements for a free society. That balance will be change according to circumstances e.g. war, but there must always be democratic accountability together with the protection of individuals and minorities.
14. Security Clearance
Harold F ,   Signal Hill USA   (12.04.13)
Once a person has the security clearance, that person is regarded as safe. If the Druze soldiers had the proper security clearance then they should have been allowed in with the rest of the unit. Before some one talks about Druze disloyalty, please remember that Vanunu was a Jew.
15. JEWS are descriminated against EVERY DAY on the Temple Mount
Sorah ,   Israel   (12.04.13)
I NEVER SAW YNET complain about that......
16. to #11
Chana   (12.04.13)
You are right that Druze are not Arabs, but read the entire article. It states "We are troubled by anyone who is not Jewish: Arabs, migrants and even Druze who serve in the army." Perhaps #11, the three groups should be mostly characterized as 'Muslims'.
17. One incident does not define a nation, sorry.
mea   (12.05.13)
18. Mordechai Vanunu wasn't Druze
Shachar ,   Eilat   (12.05.13)
There is a frightening rise in racism amongst the extreme right-wing and religious communities. They seem to have forgotten that once they were forced to wear a yellow badge in Europe. There are also a majority of Israelis who abhor racism and are not afraid to confront it. Bibi also slammed the decision to bar entrance to the Druze, so the majority is solidly with the soldiers and not accepting quietly a bad decision.
19. racism
scotch irish ,   petaq tiqwa   (12.05.13)
I am married to a sabraie. When we came to live here I unlike the haradin was drafted. I proudly served until the day the company I worked for had a job on the same base my reserve unit was starioned. The same facility that I reported to receieved an m16 fron when called up.But because I am a blond haired blue eyed wasp I was not given permision to enter. If you dont think that is obsurb you are beyond hope
20. Clearence
Or ,   Israel   (12.05.13)
I dont know if you have been in the army but if you did you clesrly have no clue about security nor clearence.. I have been in the israeli intelegence and not everybody gets the highest clerence ni matter if they are jewish morocens, polish of i they arabs There are is a risk that we shouldnt take with sensitve places and dimona is one of them clearly
21. #18 Vanunu
Harold F ,   Signal Hill USA   (12.06.13)
They also seem to have forgotten Captain Alfred Dreyfus who was framed for spying for Germany because he was the only Jewish officer on the French General staff. There are also the Rosenbergs who many believe to paraphrase a well know accused assassin were just patsies.
22. Druze are Arabs
Yael ,   Jerusalem   (12.07.13)
Druze are Arabs but not Muslim. Druze is a religion. They split from Muslims over a thousand years ago. A Druze friend of mine works in security at a university dorm. Thousands of Jews and non Jews alike trust him with their lives every day. He loves Israel, he served in a combat unit. His first language is Arabic but he does not associate with Arabs that don't believe in Israel as a Jewish and Democratic state. It's beautiful hehe. I feel like this article really doesn't give enough information to make up an opinion though. Is there any response from any official about why they were held up for half an hour? Maybe it was some mistake by some individual rather than the army's policy??
23. Opinion...thank you Ynet!!!!
JGedalov   (12.07.13)
Dont you think that what Israel need is a ban on pensions for politicians!!!??? Or an end to the benefit system that enriches elected officials and gives them incentive to stay in office (like the old Shimon Peres or the young Stav Shaffir) and be rewarded with a financial advantage in the name of public service!!?? Besides that, how can be possible that while Israeli intelligence agencies have no remorse hidding their secret budget, ynet has the ability to disclose this new deal "keilu" our national finance ministry is a complete success!!???not to mention the 600 million euros to join the stupid european horizon research program!!!
