He is right Bibi won't attack without the US green light thats not just Bibi its all PM's. Eshkol even went to get US permission to preempt in 1967. I think the only time a military operation has been conducted without US permission was the attack on Saddam Hussains nuclear reactor because Begin knew Carter would not give permission and he was right. In the UN afterwards even the US voted to condemn Israel for the attack. The Iranian nuclear issue has been around so long now and Bibi will have many times explicitly been told hands off Iran by Obama especially since he did sold out to avoid any chances of conflict to increase Kerrys chance of being the next president and not a Republican. Unless Bibi does get a green light from Obama he won't attack because we rely on he US for military aid and their UN Security Council veto so if we blatantly defy Obama over this there will be hell to pay and thats Bibis problem. What Obama does or does not do is up to him, but the fact remains that the US has a massive radar base in Israel (not to mention spy satilites and other tracking stations) and the Irainan goverment can say to America 'there is no way the IDF can attack us and you not know about it. So if they take off and you don't stop them, or tell us, we will assume you support their actions and hold you complicit'. Then, supported by their ally Russia, Iran would strike at US bases in the Gulf.
