1. No more excuses for continuation of "Two-State Solution" aka
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.09.13)
"The final Solution to the Israeli Problem". Trusting Islamist Jihado-fascists and/or foreign entities like USA is sure recipe for suicide. Masada No More!
2. The one sentence that captured my attention...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (12.09.13)
...was "Netanyahu is forced to decide where he is headed, which he particularly hates doing...". A very accurate description. Isn't politics about making the hard decisions? Or is it just the practice of stalling??? We all know that Netanyahu is an expert on the latter, but can he - for once! - master the former?
3. Barnea wants Israel to rely on Obama who is leaving.
Michael Pielet ,   Israel   (12.09.13)
Clever article. Total nonsense. Israel is going to sub-contract it's security to a tired old retired general who does not know israel from the Antartica. 3 years obama and crew will be gone. obama will go back to the south side of Chicago. Barnea wants to rely on Obama for Israel's future security and let Israel be left holding the bag. This is a joke?
4. Incredible!
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (12.09.13)
Do you want us to believe that "american experts" know the solution to our problems???? Not even Mr. Barnea believes what he wrote! Sad, very sad!!!
5. International supervision
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (12.09.13)
You mean like the UNIFIL loonies in Lebanon? Come on.
6. bcoz UNIFIL and EU observers at rafah did great work
Danny   (12.09.13)
7. big bloody deal
phil   (12.09.13)
general allen and 100 americans worked out a security plan which barnea says robs bibi of the jordan valley argument. What a pathetic imbecile is barnea. The americans are nothign compared to the idf when it comes to security. Look at iraq, afganistan, they are lousy dumb soldiers.so general allen's plan is not worth it period. Israel should control and own th ejordan valley. Who on earth says israel has to buy into kerry's plans. Barnea, who will you run to when rockets hit ben gurion. What a pathetic spineless jews. You lost a son and you don't see what 6 million died for. To control their own fate, not run begging the US to save poor israel.6 million spit you, you idiot and moron. Hey kerry, forget, take your plan, put your coat on and go back to USA . And don't come back on so called peace. We'll deal with it ourselves. Now I understand why non jews hate some jews for their spineless self hatred and chamberlain concessions.I am ashamed of these cowards.
8. How amusing
Sidney ,   USA   (12.09.13)
The U.S. military whose only success in the last half century was in the war with Grenada is advising Israel on security.
9. It's A Moot Argument
Zechariah   (12.09.13)
To fulfill the USA security plan will require at least 15% of Judaea and Samaria and 3000square Km of Southern Israel on the border of Egypt. The Palestinians will reject this even with An Aditional land swap for the settlements .Then there is the issue of no place for Islamic Jihadi Fatah Ba'ath or Jewish Fascists from the Sea to the River .The Maximum offer the Arabs will Reject.
10. Israel has tried Barnea's strategy - and found it wanting
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.09.13)
"He could have taken an opposite policy, making progress with the Palestinians and using the positive response in the world for additional pressure on Iran." Netanyahu has, over the last four years or more, made numerous concessions and gestures on the "Palestinian track" for to gain credit from and maintain a close relationship with the Obama administration in the expectation the US would come through on the Iranian track. How'd that work out? In the end, Israel got *no* credit for those concessions, and the US carried out negotiations without keeping Israel in the loop, and without taking Israel's security interests into consideration.
11. It's not going to happen
arne ,   chicago usa   (12.09.13)
Israel will not give up their presence in the west bank.Best they tell Obama now and let's not waste any more time.It is what it is--that's it!
12. If I understand correctly, what the Americans are saying is
A ,   Belgium   (12.09.13)
we will put our troops in the Jordan Valley in order to protect you from the people we expect you to give a part of your country to so that they may also have a country. I never thought American foreign policy could be any worse than under George W and Colin "these are clearly visible Iraqi WMD factories" Powell. It is.
13. #2, when it comes to PLO negotiations, stalling is winning
Jake ,   USA   (12.10.13)
Bibi is doing a masterful job of it. In regards to Iran, stalling is losing. Time to fire up the jets.
14. The Palestinians have rejected this 'plan'
Rachel ,   US   (12.09.13)
15. Is Israel Sovereign & Is Bibi Strong Enough ?
Dan ,   UDA   (12.10.13)
Very few sovereign states would allow their existence to be determined by another country. Obama and the U.S. State department care little about Israel and more about the Arab countries including those that hide and supply radical Muslims. Bibi has allowed Israel to look weaker and weaker.
16. Judea/Samaria belong to Israel NOW and FOREVER!
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.10.13)
Recently MK Bennett produced a 2,000 year old Jewish coin from Judea and stated, "You can't occupy your own home". Judea and Samaria are necessary for Israel's welfare and survival. That is obvious to any child capable of reading a map. But we do not claim Judea and Samaria for security. We claim Judea and Samaria NOW and FOREVER because they belong to us!! End of story.
17. Do you remember a previous guarantee
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen Md US   (12.10.13)
Obviously, the author of the article chose to forget the Guarantee given to Israel by President Eisenhower after the 1956 Suez war. Eisenhower, no friend of Israel, put enormous pressure on Israel to withdraw from the Sinai. He also guaranteed that The US would protect Israel's right to use the Straits of Tiran for their access to the Red Sea. Nine years later, Nasser, the dictator of Egypt, requested that the UN peacekeeping force in the Sinai be withdrawn and the UN complied. He then closed off the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping and the UD did nothing as Pres. Johnson was already involved in the Vietnam war. Seeing that the American guarantee was worthless emboldened Nasser and he moved 100,000 troops into the Sinai and told huge rallies in Egypt that he and his allies would destroy Israel. Israel was forced to win the 6 Day War in order to stay alive. History shows us that Lyndon Johnson was a friend to Israel, but at a time when America was in turmoil because of Vietnam, he refused to honor a supposedly ironclad agreement given to Israel. Now Barnea wants to rely on a guarantee given by a lame duck President who has not been a warm friend to Israel
18. Scraps of paper
Shmuel ,   Merkaz, Israel   (12.10.13)
Notice how he gives no details and fails to discuss the "security arrangements" in any way. Simply taking a bunch of scraps of paper and labeling them "security arrangements" does not make it so. Nothing in this plan offers any real security to Israel. No "peacekeepers" have ever actually stood up to keep peace for Israel. Note the quantum growth of Hizbulla's arms under the noses of the "peacekeepers"; the abandonment of the Sinai, etc., etc., etc.
19. Fallen soldiers, victims of terrorism off limits
Avramele   (12.10.13)
We all mourn the loss of those in uniform who willingly made the ultimate sacrifice. As a general rule it should not be a weapon in political discourse, even if we uncomfortably look away when grieved parents of the left or the right do so. Their/our collective pain demands that we make the politics and the conversation solution focused not retribution driven so that future generations will be spared this awful personal agony too prevalent in our times and which my family like so so many others has not been immune. The dealings of nations and governments should be free of blood feuds.
20. Will US send soldiers to fight for IL if war breaks along E
Alan ,   SA   (12.10.13)
Eastern Border /Jordan River side. What is the track record of Observers/UN etc etc... They usually pull out fast, dont they
21. UNIFIL just provided quiet border so HEZ cud rearm in peace
Alan ,   SA   (12.10.13)
22. Cannot rely on foreign troops period.
SK ,   Tel Aviv   (12.10.13)
Did UN 1701 stop Hezbollah from arming? Give me a break. Time to sober up.
23. Amerika is no longer America
Jhan   (12.10.13)
Unfortunately Israelis are too stupid to catch on.
24. As is written -
Arn.. ,   Sweden.   (12.10.13)
" The Good thing You want others to do to You, You shall also do to Them " !, If the Palestinians does not Recognise a Jewish State, a Palestinian One cant be recognised either. Then there is nothing to Talk about. Arn.Sweden.
25. American Experts !
Raed ,   Nablus   (12.10.13)
It’s funny when we hear American experts preparing security plan! Perhaps the same experts were behind the security plan for Iraq.. this is waste of time and Israel should end this madness, I’m Palestinian from the WB and totally surprised from some Israeli politicians and how they still believe on the stupid idea of 2 states, Israel with the current development will commit suicide if they will follow what so called American experts, form our side in the WB all what we are looking for is getting liberated from the corrupted Palestinian Authority.
26. Totally ignores our historic and religious rights
Zev ,   Israel   (12.10.13)
Even if we can afford to put our security in the hands of others as if we never learn from history, Judea and Samaria is the Jewish homeland and Jews should be allowed to live there even if our leaders are willing to give up our sovereignity.
27. The writer is correct the world is tired of the excuses.
Milk D ,   East Coast/USA   (12.10.13)
Israel has articulated for many years different issues with regard to a Palestinian state for these displaced people..I don't care and I know I speak for a many of American when I say we don't care what they call themselves. And let me also tell you let us see one Arab army amassing on Israels border to either kill Jews or Christians...and you can be ABSOLUTELY positive if the airstrikes and everything else we have isn't raining down on that Arab army and I mean like yesterday...us Americans would be protesting on Main street..The USA is with you Israel we just cant stand Bibi.
28. we must support netanyahu .
a ash ,   nyc ny   (12.10.13)
we must support netanyahu . the arabs want us dead . we have to be strong and call it like it is . bayit yehudi is also 1000% correct kol hakavod
29. Barnea we had elections
Nachman   (12.10.13)
it seems the Israeli public does not agree with your analysis. They don't particulair trust Obama and certainly not abbas who in any event has very little control on the arab opinion. Putin can be relied on much more than Obama. Syria is the best example. Iran another example. Barnea we are not ready for another holocaust relying on the sympathy of the world.
30. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.11.13)
Oh, absolutely. And when he formally annexes Judea and Samaria and sends the illegal Arab squatters therein to Jordan, country of their citizenship, I'm sure you will join our celebrations. Politics, after all, is about making hard decisions. Didn't you say that yourself? Or did you mean only when the decisions that are made follow your preferred line of thought?
