1. A farce
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.17.13)
If they have to report in three times a day they cannot actually leave. There is no time to leave and return and leave and return three times during the day. It is a farce. They are as securely closed in as if the gates were closed.
2. "We demand they go over our asylum requests"
Cameron ,   USA   (12.17.13)
3. From the eyes of a Oleh Hadash...
Oleh Hadash ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.17.13)
When we say "never agian," do we really just mean "never again to us"? There could be nothing more beneficial to Israel's image, not to mention our Jewish character, than to recognize the importance of treating fellow victims of genocide (Darfur) and slavery (Eritrea) with respect. Does that mean we have to accept every refugee in the world? Of course not. But our government refuses to even consider the asylum claim of ANY refugee, which means they cannot apply for asylum in other countries from Israel. Right now the government's strategy is to imprison everyone, make their lives so miserable that they would sign a "voluntary return" paper and risk death rather than stay in Israel. (The punishment waiting for them in Sudan and Eritrea is execution, which has happened already to refugees who have returned there) Who are we? I made Aliyah to the Jewish State. Does that mean the state for Jewish people, but not for Jewish values?
4. Why don t they seek it in Saudi Arabia???
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome   (12.17.13)
we must ask those migrant the real question: why don t they go to Saudi Arabia to seek work and asylum??? The Saudi are recruiting thousand of people in EU to work in Arabia.... It is well known that in S Arabia the economy is booming...Why do they come to EU and Israel?? Why don t they go to muslim countries???
5. there are laws against illegals all over the world

6. Not true
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.17.13)
" ... according to the UN Refugee Convention, Israel must look into each asylum request individually, but that the State has been failing to do so as a policy in recent years." WRONG! According to the United Nations Refugee Convention, a refugee is defined as an individual who crosses ONE border. These infiltrators are thus NOT refugees and have NO right to demand shelter of the State of Israel. The United Nations can have them -- no shortage of U.N.-operated refugee camps all over Africa. There really is no place for them in Israel, and no compelling reason to make room for them -- they do not fit the culture. Moreover, their reasons for coming to Israel are questionable, to say the least.
7. The government and G-d
MIrriam ,   Tiberias   (12.17.13)
The G-d of Israel said over 20 times in the Torah that when you have your own land your are to treat the strangers who come into it, with love, and justice or they would cry out to him against us. I am sure G-d knows all about what is happening today and he has not changed his directions. I suggest we wake up and act like Jews who fear G-d while we still have a country. We've tried being cruel. Let's try being merciful. Give them temporary work so they aren't a burden and don't starve. We can just stop lining Jewish mafia pockets by the racket of importing foreign workers from China, Thailand etc. Thanks to our big fence we are not going to be flooded with more Africans so stop all the boogey man talk about that. And why not train them to go back and take over their country with our military aid. Lets earn an ally instead of our God's judgment. Enough of the Rosh Katan and Lev Katan approach!

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.17.13)
You have it backwards. The African migrants disabused themselves of any recognition as refugees once they crossed a second border. There may be one or two worthy candidates out of 1,000, but the fact is that most of them are diseased, drug-addicted, alcoholic and not terribly interested in gainful employment. They steal from established stores, and set up slapdash peddler stalls -- in order to sell that which they stole. Many, if not most, are criminals. Most, if not all, seek merely to avoid conscription or work of any sort at all. They have absolutely no interest in attending Hebrew language classes, and a considerable number are illiterate. Hard to comprehend how or why these people allegedly "fear for their lives" -- we are not talking about educated or populist classes, here. Send them back to Africa; let the United Nations shoulder the burden. It's time the U.N. did its job, anyway. Please cite one credible and verifiable report of a returnee to Eritrea or the Sudan who has been executed because of what he espouses (i.e., not because of rape, murder, etc.). Finally -- since when do Jewish values require us to take in a criminal element that is not interested in honest labor (have you a clue how many kibbutzim offered to hire African migrants during harvest?; the migrants were not interested), has absolutely no intention of learning Hebrew, prefers to lie around in public places in a drunken stupor and represents a significant criminal element? Israel has a moral and ethical obligation to take in Jews. And only Jews. We owe absolutely nothing to anyone else.

Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (12.17.13)
Your clear racism and worldview are scary and sickening. Your "understanding" of Jewish values are non-existent. Simply put, you are an embarrassment to the Jewish people.
10. Deport them all
marc ,   tel aviv   (12.17.13)
11. Sarah B - please explain
Ben ,   Israel   (12.17.13)
If what you say is true then why noone has mentioned this to corrupt UN? How can they hold Israel hostage? If you know this information, surely the government officials do as well and should be fighting back. We are an independent democratic nation with our own laws, why are we forced to take these savages in, when the rest of the world deports illegal migrants???

Calling a spade a spade isn't racism. Your understanding of Sarah B is non-existent. Your left leaning world view is what is really is scaring you and making you sick. That's not Sarah B's problem it's yours. Don't try to make it our problem by speaking for the Jewish people. You can speak for yourself but you don't represent me.

M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.17.13)
No, he's right on the money, whatever his own political leanings are. Those of us who have been on Ynet for a few years have seen "Sarah B" turn from a centrist into a rabid right-wing loonie whose racism is evident. David Duke of the KKK would be proud of her posts. "...the fact is that most of them are diseased, drug-addicted, alcoholic and not terribly interested in gainful employment. They steal from established stores, and set up slapdash peddler stalls -- in order to sell that which they stole. Many, if not most, are criminals." Declarations like this are the work of a racist. I'm not saying accept every Tom, Dick and Harry who demands asylum-- each case should be judged on its own merits, and those who are simply avoiding conscription or searching for economic betterment do not deserve asylum under any circumstances. Even those not deserving asylum could be treated more humanely. She's technically right that once a second border is crossed, there's no obligation-- except the humanitarian one... what are you going to do-- repatriate them to the country they came from (usually Egypt) to get to Israel? How will you do that? At the points of bayonets, the way the Czechs expelled ethnic Germans after WW II? I hope that as a nation, we are better than that.
14. Here in SA the local born blacks hate these Africans.I
Alan ,   SA   (12.17.13)
The local politicians call it Xenophobia. The local born guys and gals assault them, burn down their dwellings and businesses. Certain nationals from the North have thriving drug businesses. Also hijack whole blocks of apartments in run down areas
15. Not dangerous?!
J ,   Floretin   (12.17.13)
Umm so why don't you people let me walk my dog in my neighborhood past 7 pm without trying to rape or mug or intimidate me?????????????

Thank you for your reply. I have never had the pleasure of visiting Israel so there is as lot I don't know. I do hear about lots of crime stemming from these immigrants but to what extent It exists I don't know. I do know it's a problem however. Perhaps Sarah B's comment is overstated and perhaps not but I think she raises valid points. I'm not about to attack her for her opinion.
