1. Any comparison
Sagi   (12.23.13)
between Pollard and the NSA is empty rhetoric and has no base and bears no resemblance to reality. The one acted disloyally to his country and people for payment, the other acted out of pure loyalty and concern for the country and their safety and security. One is called treason, the other is called dedication.
2. Wrong headline
Raptor   (12.23.13)
"Breaking the rules". On the contrary, the rules were observed with precision and tenacity. Everyone spies on everyone else, Israel is one of the biggest perpetrators, and quite rightly so. No need to get excited over a fact of life, an "evil" required for survival. All that is required is to face up to, and admit , to reality.
3. About Ehud Barak, honestly?
JGedalov   (12.23.13)
I doubt those nsa spyguys could understand his sophisticated & literate hebrew.
4. # 1
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (12.23.13)
Is it loyalty to spy on every citizen in the country and not just those that might be disloyal and engaged in doing harm? How admirable, Hitler and his Gestapo were sure dedicated and concerned about their security and safety too. I must remember to thank my government for spying on me and using my tax dollars to moniter everything I do. The U.S. govt. probably moniters this board so I'll take this opportunity now. "Thank you Uncle Sam!"
5. clear
michel ,   Ashkelon   (12.23.13)
Now is clear to everybody that Obama mantains Pollard in jail only because he is a Jew, and Obama and all. antisemites.
6. it show the failure of Israel security Agency
anonimous ,   brasil   (12.23.13)
Want to free pollard, just arest american spy during its vast work. How can a county let its defense minister be spied? not to say prime minister without a clue? Every country has spy services and Counter spy services! Israel should not met kerry until there is a written compromise not to spy israelis!
7. #4
Sagi   (12.23.13)
Controlled and monitored democracy, with all the checks and balances in place, is preferable to Libertarianism which would inevitably lead to anarchy and chaos. Like the man said, all political systems are bad and conducive to corruption, democracy is the best of the bunch and if it takes your tax dollars to keep you safe and secure then you should be grateful. Democracy, the American GI and your tax dollar put AH down, always remember that.
8. Isn't Pollard an American
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (12.23.13)
Pollard is an American serving time for crimes against America while working for the American government. What does this have to do with Israel, except a common religion. Clue to Israel, the US is not a religious state and we separate religion from State, so your request to intervene in our internal affairs is denied.
9. Sagi # 7
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (12.23.13)
Lots of things were different in the past. Of course Democracy is a great system but what it is now is not what it was intended to be when the founding fathers set it up. The government was never intended to intrude in every aspect of peoples lives. When this country was founded we did have controlled and monitored democracy but it's long been out of control. We never had inflation when our currency was based on gold or silver. There never used to be an income tax because the government controlled their spending and wasn't intent on growing bigger and bigger like a cancer. The American GI fought to put down oppression and tyranny and did a wonderful job of it in WW2. Thank God they didn't have to worry about fighting it from within.
11. Next Time Obama visit israel, jail him.
Zy   (12.23.13)
12. A Special Prosecutor
Brod ,   USA   (12.23.13)
A Special Prosecutor is needed to put Obama on trial for contravening the Constitution. Obama's commits Treason for spying on millions of innocent Americans, world leaders he deems are his enemies, etc. Those Congressmen that support him should also be prosecuted for breaking the Law. They have NO right to spy on millions of innocent Americans who have nothing to do with terrorism. They have NO right in turning America into a Police State. It is time Ted Cruz leads out this effort of going after these criminals! The media should expose these criminals. Snowden should be given a medal for exposing these criminals in high places that are breaking America's Laws and Constitution. Those who support them like Dick Cheney, James Woolsley, McCain, Peter King, Lindsey Graham, etc should also be prosecuted. They are a threat to America. They should be going after Islamist-Jihadist terrorists and not the millions of innocent Americans who have nothing to do with terrorism. It is time the Law pursues the scoundrels of society!
13. I'll say this again
Arnold ,   Montreal-Canada   (12.23.13)
There is a big dark secret between Israel and the US about Pollard. I think the USA is afraid to let Pollard free.
14. hmm one difference
bari ,   nyc usa   (12.23.13)
Pollard's a Jew and helped Israel. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. you can bet the house on that!
15. #1 is totally right!
Aaron ,   Jerusalem   (12.23.13)
Pollard was an American working for American intelligence that committed treason against his country (not Israel). He sold secrets for profit to a host of countries, including Israel, and even used some stolen secrets for his wife's personal business gains.
16. Please keep in mind ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.23.13)
... that the United States is treaty-bound to share intelligence with the State of Israel. Israel has always shared intelligence with the United States -- in quite a few cases, the United States would have gone uninformed. The reverse, sadly, has not been the case, as Jonathan Pollard discovered. American interests were not compromised, as several American administrations have insisted. Pollard merely provided Israel with information to which it is entitled, under the intelligence-sharing treaty with the United States. It is time to pardon Jonathan Pollard. Either that, or it will be open season on American intelligence interests. Anyone who thinks that Israel lacks the capacity -- well, think again. What gives the United States the right to assume that it can spy on other countries with alacrity but that the reverse is unacceptable? Time to teach the United States a richly-deserved lesson.
17. Client state
Sammy ,   NY   (12.23.13)
First of all , Israel is aclient state, We support your existance, If it is not for us , That is US to, You still be with and Inflation with the size of your ego" out of this world", 2nd, This sum Pollard, is an American Citizen, you have no say to what we do with him, Religion has nothing to do with anythiing. 22. little hippo god.........
Calibi ,   Sydney Aust   (12.23.13)
Is this the reason why Snowden strip Obama politically naked after his bold attack on China for stealing??????????? And his professional thief is trying to make a correction and inspire a special truly new world in order!
23. None of you get it.
nibor ,   israel   (12.23.13)
Countries do spy on one another. Jonathan Pollard was an American citizen spying on his own country, giving away secrets. He did not just reach files on Israel but files on other countries as well, that were not even under his jurisdiction. He spied on Israel for money. Who knows how much money he was planning to make from spying on other countries.
24. Pollard had committed a crime, but he has paid for it.
CJK   (12.23.13)
jonathan pollard had the misfortune to make a plea deal with a dishonest us government who then voided his plea bargain and sent him to prison for life. many others who committed similar crimes to pollard have served less time. pollard is still in prison because he is a jew who spied for israel. the us intelligence agencies are prejudiced against jews, and the entire obama administration is hostile to israel and attempts to bully american jews. elie wiesel has finally woken up from his deep slumber, but there are still many prominent american jews who worship at obama's feet.
25. The US BETRAYED Israel !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (12.23.13)
Now they want to steal it's historic heartland...
26. USA had The Power to save Tens of Millions
Zechariah   (12.24.13)
The USA in from 1919 onward by Just Income Redistribution and A Large Standing Army well paid with Reserves had the Capacity to save tens of millions by Targetted Neutralization of Tyrants from the Fascists to the Bolshevics and from the Autocrats to Anarchists.
27. No Comparison
chanawashdc ,   Washington DC   (12.23.13)
Typical Pollard supporters. Try to use any hook to get him out.

Bryan, ADL, David Tenenbaum, 5 dancing israelis, Irv Reuben, Larry Franklin, AIPAC,
29. Stalinist through and through
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (12.24.13)
The US administration will never release Pollard - not as long as his thinking and memory remain lucid. Pollard threatens to expose the US as the vile, evil and wholly untrustworthy country that is Stalinist through and through. Pollard's trial was a criminal setup led by Weinberger who lied, falsified documents, refused to expose relevant documents even to Pollard's attorneys.Never mind that he reneged on signed agreements. Americans don't keep promises. No chance Snowden will make the mistake Pollard did.
30. Aldrich Ames, not Pollard/Lekem, killed those US spies
David Turner ,   Richmond   (12.24.13)
"The Americans argued that the use of the intelligence information Pollard delivered to the IDF's Directorate of Military Intelligence caused them heavy damage, as part of it "spilled" to the Russians and led to the arrest and death of American spies, and that fixing the damage required billions in resources and many years." Of course it later turned out that the "leak" to the information "spilled" was by a high ranking CIA official, Aldrich Ames, who had, in fact, been using Pollard to deflect suspicion from himself. Ames was unmasked a few years later. Pollard (and Israel) is a victim to a corrupt American judicial/corrupt political systems applying a hypocritical double standard as applies to Jews. I have described this many times on-line over the past 25 years. All seems to still be available at Google: "david turner" and "pollard"
31. He is absolutely right
Shachar ,   Eilat   (12.25.13)
America's phony indignation at being spied on by Israel has now been shown up as hypocrisy and two-faced back-stabbing. Israel paid a heavy price for the small-time spy and now it's time for the Israeli's to exact the same price for America's spying. Pollard's release should be just the entree. What they should have done years ago is nab an American spy here and within days a secret swap would be worked out.
