1. Chicken and Egg, one is racism, other, legitimate criticism
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.25.13)
2. Re-inventing history
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (12.25.13)
Arab leaders have denied the Jewish Temple was ever on the Temple Mount and that Jews ever lived in Jerusalem, although it's mentioned more than 600 times in the Bible -- and not once in the Koran. Now Abbas claims Jesus was a Palestinian, even though the concept of a Palestinian nationality began in the 1960's. Until then they were Arabs, just like the ones in Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Egypt.
3. NGO got it all wrong
Signe ,   Bergen, Norway   (12.26.13)
There would have been no Jesus today simply because Jesus, Joseph and Mary were all jews. The palestinian autorities would have killed them and called them all kind of nasty things like thieves, occupants and illegal settlers
4. Islamic Dhimmi and Fatah Torturers
Zechariah   (12.26.13)
Most Arabs favour Islamic Dhimmi or Fatah Nationalism in which Jews have no Right to A Security State. But in realapolitic for a Decades Future the Jews cannot be Destoyed without the Destruction of the Islamic world and that's optimistic for Islam.
5. For being born 'mashiah' he needed a jewish homeland, uhh?
Ibrahim Sued ,   Rio de Janeiro   (12.26.13)
6. Yep...attack Israel for a PA problem!
Rachel ,   so home sick   (12.26.13)
That is right...the PA have been in control of Christian sites and have made them Jew and Christian free. Then they Arabized the area. AND now they attack Israel for the separation wall? Wow....chutzpah times 100!
7. I hear its great in...
David K28 ,   NY, USA   (12.26.13)
Afghanistan and Iraq where churches were bombed at christmas mass and about 40 people died. where the hell is the NGO there??!!?! oh, and I hear it's lovely to be a christian in syria... most people still have their heads on their shoulders...
8. My new pathetic broken record is "Chicken and Egg"
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.26.13)
9. christmas spirit?
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (12.26.13)
I don't know where the author is from, but I grew up in Chicago and lived in LA and there christmas spirit means buying gifts and spending money. There really is no mention of any inner dimension to christmas. So using symbols has switched from selling products to pushing a political agenda is not much of a switch.
10. Arabs will be Arabs, Christians will (at best) dislike Jews,
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.26.13)
Islam will do whatever it takes to dominate this wretched planet, so what's new? At least Christmas is about spending money and not about "throwing the Jew down the well" (Borat citation:-)
11. The trick is to learn from the mistakes
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.26.13)
... and not repeat them. Being open, and going to an expense of several million NIS for security and the protection of people who despise us, does not help anyone. So .... in 2014, shut down Bethlehem. It's a security risk. No pilgrims, or pilgrimages -- just the way it was under Jordanian rule between 1948 and 1967. Give the rabble something REAL to protest. And then we can respond that if things were so hunky-dory between 1948 and 1967, why are they complaining when we restore the rules that were in place then?
12. Jesus Never Existed.
JMK ,   NYC   (12.26.13)
The above is the scholarship, the Gospels are fiction, there never was a Jesus, he was not born, did not live and did not died, that is the scholarship. Bethlehem and Nazareth did not physically exist two thousand years ago and were not more than mythical towns, until settled by the believers in the myths.
13. #12 You're on shaky ground there
Shachar ,   Eilat   (12.27.13)
There is some evidence for Jesus's existence and most archiologists and historians believe he existed. But for Avraham, Yitzhak,Ya'akov and Moshe there is no evidence whatsoever. It's best left as a question of belief. Nazarath and Bethlehem most certainly existed and were Jewish towns all well documented by Josephus.
14. Put photos of those Israelis murdered on the wall
ForgotTheReason??? ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.27.13)
All could be made a lot clearer if Israeli would use a little common sense and post the photos of the thousands of men women and children murdered by suicide bombers who came out of the Bethlehem area on those walls let the world SEE close up the real story post their names and ages and how they were killed as well with the photos let the visitors priests and journalists see why there is a wall
15. To 11, Sarah B
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (12.28.13)
Dear Mr's Sarah B. Bethlehem is very important to Christianity. And Israel takes care of it, with zeal and greatness. The ones who protest against your rule don't represent me and many others. Shame on them. Happy New Year.
16. To N 12, JMK
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (12.28.13)
My dear, I and many others believe in Jesus. You don't believe. That's your right. But respect the mine. Sincerely.
17. We will continue to suffer...
rinah   (12.28.13)
for as long as we frolic with Christianity and Islam - both a murderous spirit - the Inquisition, the Pogroms, the Crusades, the Holocaust, the martyrs for Allah. Joseph (in Egypt - meaning exile) sent everyone away at one point - we need to shut the door on this murderous spirit within! King David stood in the face of Goliath (the Nations against Israel). Longing for his return; may it be soon (Ezekiel 37, Jeremiah 30, Psalm 17, Psalm 40, Hosea 3, Amos 9)!
18. To No. 10
Bertram ,   London, UK   (12.28.13)
Never mind the situation of Jews living as minorities in other countries. The Jewish people established a state in 1948, became the dominant military power in the region, accompanied by immense cultural and economic achievement. You wouldn't believe it, though, from your posts and those of others since you continue to maintain a diaspora mentality. Oy! How we continue to suffer! No-one knows our misery! No-one knows how oppressesd we are by the goyim, the Arabs, the leftists, and goodness knows who else!
19. #18, Luiz, I do not respect stupidity.
JMk ,   NYC   (12.29.13)
Jesus never existed that is scholarship, that is logic, Jesus is mythical and I do not like people hating demonizing me because of a fiction.
20. Christmas spirit gone awry
elke ,   USA   (12.29.13)
Christmas Eve bombing of Gaza, followed by a second airstrike two days later. 3-year-old girl killed. Raids in Bethlehem the day after Christmas where the IDF trashed businesses and homes, causing extensive damage Christmas Eve demolitions that displaced 68 Palestinians in freezing temperatures, including a 5-year-old girl paralyzed from the waist down. Peace on earth, hey?
21. Dear JMK, you can.t prove what you say
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (12.29.13)
about Jesus, neither do I on the contrary. Faith is too subjective. Nobody deserves being demonized. Hate and intolerance are awful. If you, like me, supports Israel and endorse "Liberty and Justice for all", be sure that I am your ally.
22. #21 Luiz, Jesus never existed is not morality....
JMK ,   NYC   (12.29.13)
Jesus never existed is not a political statement. Jesus never existed is literary criticism, historical analysis, logical and scientific application, etc. Jesus never existed because there is no evidence for a life but a great deal of evidence of only a mythical fiction.
