1. how can you fight wiht zero collateral damage
zilkha   (12.25.13)
the russians defeated the nazis by inflicting huge civilian collateral damage. Yoiu can defeat hamas by not causing such damage. Gazans have to be smashed in order for there to be a change. Otherwise, they pass out candies and snipe and butcher israelis. Bibi should be booted out and fast.
2. Collateral damage
steve gure ,   coconut creek f. 330   (12.25.13)
The terror group has only to establish themselves in a civilian setting to be protected. This is an idiotic assumption by the political correct crowd. Concentrate on protecting its citizens and forget about collateral damage. They elected the terror groups . Let them live with it.
3. The world has apparently decided...
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.26.13)
That any war Israel is involved in must be "sanitized"-- IOW, no civilian casualties. Even though the civil war going on in Syria is based on civilian casualties, no one has done much to protest the fact. The Geneva Conventions specifically state that a belligerent deliberately deploying itself in civilian areas to protect itself with human shields is responsible for any civilian deaths caused by its being situated where it is. On the other hand those same Geneva Conventions force the "other belligerent" to make cost-benefit calculations (which will always be suspect by parties interested in slandering that belligerent). Isn't it time the Geneva Conventions were reviewed with an eye towards making them applicable to 21st century conflicts rather than reflecting events that occurred in WW II, sixty-eight years ago, when conflicts were basically between nations?
4. Collateral Damage or Collateral Carnage?
Alan ,   Tel-Aviv Israel   (12.27.13)
Gazan terrorists have no qualms about killing innocent Israeli civilians. So, the IDF should not feel limited to killing armed combatants in Gaza, but include the civilians who aid and abet them.
5. Let's face the facts
arne ,   chicago usa   (12.27.13)
As long as Gaza is under the control of Hamas there will be no peace with the PLO--So if Uncle Sam want's to get it done they had better figure this one out. With that said "case closed"
6. Gaza & Israel
Kevin J Lee ,   Barrhead/UK   (12.28.13)
One day I trust, well it might take a few Thousand Years, every one will come to realise that "Cooperation is the best for all, never mind Peace !, Trade & Tourism= £$ + Shekels".
