Hamas, Hezbollah, etc, state that their raison-d’etre is to kill the Jews. NONE of this has anything to do with settlements (which, by the way, are the reclamation of land taken from them. sadly, these commanders' comments seem to be based on false assumptions: the "palestinian" population is irrelevant, because it is not a democratic society. if abbas and the plo tell them to send their children for a demonstration of "spontaneous rock-throwing", it doesn't matter whether they love their children or fear for their safety - this has been demonstrated plenty of times. and these "lone wolf" attacks are not "spontaneous", but coordinated by terrorist groups operating undetected. it may be convenient for abbas to be able to disassociate himself from them, but it is no more of a coincidence now, than the so-called "al aqsa intifada" was, under arafat (y"sh). the use of escalated terrorism during negotiations is nothing new - what's new is the american secretary of state making the threats. let's just hope that these false assumptions do not hinder the idf's ability to respond to, and defeat, the terrorists.
