This mohel was an ultra who seemed to have an attitude toward the secure parents and wasn't caring in the least about the situation--in fact he seemed indifferent. Our community learned to never trust another ultra with such important matters. And ultras wonder why nobody will go near their cult.

the barbaric practice of circumcision, I accept it as one of the distressing aspects of Judaism. I certainly condemn the fact that laymen, butchers in my opinion, are permitted by law to actually conduct this ritual. There is no other example in the civilized world of a non professional, registered medical expert, having permission to perform surgery on another living human being, let alone an eight year old defenseless child. I pray for the day that some country, perhaps America, will be the first to outlaw and ban this practice other than by hospitalized surgery.

Where do they get 1 in 500? Does anyone know how many BOY babies are circumcised in any place but Israel? Many American babies are circumcised and who counts them all?

Children aren't born with vaccinations either but that doesn't mean they shouldn't get them. Unfortunately these tragedies can happen with any procedure. Recently a young lady in USA became brain dead from having tonsils removed.

it is hard to imagine that a mohel does not use a shield. This is a small device that slips on to the foreskin and pushes the head of the penis down and so when the mohel makes his cut there is no danger to the head of the penis. It is difficult to imagine that a mohel did not use this. How could he botch up the cut? something missing from the story...

If there is a reason GOD has for this perhaps for Rabbi Rosenberg we can find a reason too?

This Rabbi needs to have some cutting done too. If he is such an expert, how could this happen? And was the whole instrument taken off or what?

a mohel should have some certification to show they are following safety standards. i dont think there is any real advantage to having an MD. the issues is having proper technique and asking a few basic questions (e.g. any medical issues with the child, any bleeding problems in the family). most circumscissions are performed by medical residents who just learned what to do. a mohel spends his life focused on getting it right and generally has years of experience.

Where I live most of the mohels have a medical background specifically in urology and that should be required everywhere.

anybody who performs a surgical procedure should have some medical knowledge. This mohel is a butcher. as for your breeding ground theory: how many uncircumcised men lead a normal life? They do wash, maybe that is the difference.
