6. Thank God for Ariel Sharon
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (01.11.14)
Ariel Sharon was a great leader because he would never flinch in the face of anti semitism and people who wanted to murder Jews. He realized that a nation of a few million people surrounded by countries with over a hundred million people who educated their young that Jews were evil and deserved be destroyed could only be confronted and if necessary, defeated, by a strong Israel. He never compromised in his belief that a strong Israel was the only way Israel could survive in the Middle East and he was correct. When you study the life and times of Ariel Sharon and the nation of Israel it's important to read and learn all about what was going on in the late 1930's and during World War II in America and around the world. The entire world, including our country and President Roosevelt, knew about Hitler's plans to murder all the Jews in Europe and around the world but did absolutely nothing to stop him. Israel was reborn from the ashes of the Holocaust, the crime of the Millenia where six million Jews, of which one million were children, were murdered. A weak Israel would never have survived because the sadness of the world over what happened to the Jews was not enough to protect them from neighbors who threatened to murder all the Jews in Israel and drive them into the sea. It was Sharon's strength that kept many of Israel's enemies at bay. Some of his tactics were questionable but when you are defending your people from annihilation you do what you have to do to survive.

12. The Purgatory of Sharon
Dan ,   Gush Katif, Israel   (01.11.14)
Many believe he was in Purgatory for the suffering he inflicted on the people of Gush Katif. It doesn't matter that he felt he was doing the right thing for Israel. His arrogant dictatorship caused the expulsion of Jews in their own land. G-d hates the arrogant and therefor he did not choose the time of his death and suffered for his sins. Let this be a lesson for anyone contemplating repeating the arrogance of uprooting the Jewish people again.

18. As a palestinian
Mohamed ,   Ejerusalem Palestine   (01.11.14)
I feel exactly as most Israelies felt when Arafat died. In other words, for us he is a man responsible of massacres, state terror, brutality and violence.
19. Funny...
Hakim ,   Palestine   (01.11.14)
I know everyone wants to say something colorful when a loved one dies, but organ failure is not him deciding when he wants to go.
20. Upon all the lands...
Hakim ,   Palestine   (01.11.14)
Upon all the lands he bulldozed and occupied, he finally will occupy a piece centimeter and a six feet down potion of land. Enjoy...
21. The last enemy was death, Arik. Now you are born again into
Rivkah   (01.11.14)
eternity, forever with the Mashiach. You will reign with King David in the Millenium. Thank you for holding on as long as you did so that Israel was protected by HaShem's love for you. Good bye dear heart. We will meet again. How wonderful for you to be riding in the Paradise of the Heavenly Jerusalem with Gur and seeing him play on the streets of gold. A day is as a thousand years there so he is still young. You can put him on the horse with you when you come with the Mashiach to deliver Israel from all its enemies when the Jews call upon the Mashiach by name: Yahoshua Shelomoh. I'll be Gur greeted you with a little boy salute like John Kennedy, Jr. did long ago when his father died. Oh, to have a picture of that when all the tears were wiped away and all things were made new.
22. Mr. Sharon & Lebanon
Lebanese 2 ,   usa   (01.11.14)
Mr. Sharon gave Lebanon and the Lebanese peoples the golden Opportunity to clean and build strong Lebanon , but the Lebanese leaders did not see it , or cutch it , they are not qualify to manage nothing , very inexperience, Mr. Sharon went into coma and dies GOD Bless him, and the majority of Lebanese leaders and peoples became comatose .
23. To #18: Sharon sacrificed for peace
Y ,   New York, USA   (01.11.14)
While Sharon was able to offer painful concessions for peace, Arafat never failed to miss an opportunity. Many Palestinians revere Arafat for this stubbornness and yet curse their terrible circumstances as a result of the ongoing conflict.
24. To #18
Ben S ,   Free World   (01.11.14)
First of all, there is no Palestine. Jerusalem will remain the undivided capitol of Israel. In addition, Sharon is now in heaven with his maker while Arafart rots in hell.
25. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.11.14)
No one cares how you feel. Your opinion is irrelevant. Shut up.
26. To # 18 Mohamed
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.11.14)
Refrain from violence and soon you might have a Palestinian capital for your people!
27. To # 7 Observer , UK
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.11.14)
It is true that a lot of blood came from his hands. He defended Israel in all the wars that our dear neighbors tried to throw us out in the sea. Go and learn what happened in history and understand how many life's he saved!
28. #18, palestinian, note the difference though
Jake   (01.11.14)
Israelis are not rushing to concoct a conspiracy theory and blood libel accusing palestinians of responsibility for Sharon's death.
29. Ariel Sharon, Z"L
IMPERATOR ,   US/ISRAEL   (01.11.14)
We wont have another one like him. He was a leader and as such, he made mistakes (did not Churchill do them as well?), but no one can argue Arik's unconditional love for Israel. Even though we lost physically lost him 8 years ago, the notion that he was still fighting for his life until now served as a moral incentive. Now, we really lost him... Z"L
30. Death of a great Hero
Cristian ,   Bucharest, Romania   (01.11.14)
Rest in peace, Arik, Lion of Israel !
