More than 3,000 American Universities do support ASA's decision to boycott Israel...
2. WHO?
MIke Caton ,   Vestal, NY USA   (01.03.14)
The American Studies Assholeciation? Never heard of it.
3. #1 Actually only 1252/5000 members
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.03.14)
This is an obscure group with no influence. Their boycott means nothing. Only earned them negative exposure and condemnation.
4. Israel, Michael Oren, says jump, Congress says how high?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.03.14)
...then the Jewish media piles on, then the Jewish academia piles on, soon Congress will pass a law making it illegal to criticize Israel, as requested by Michael Oren in his Politico article December 20, 2013.
5. Boycott thé boycottters
Dr Daniel mostrel ,   Paris   (01.03.14)
Cut any donation to these universities if they really act for, remember just a few vote for the boycott ,and it is not forceful for the academics they are free to stand by Israel on their own

who refuse to see. This boycott is but the tip of an emerging mountain. (A growing number of Israeli Jews openly refuse to work over the green line.) It's not blind antisemitism; it's the illegal settlements. Open your eyes.

"There are none so blind as those who refuse to see". I completely agree. And you are a prime example one of those who refuses to see. I have some questions for you, and if you have any integrity you will answer them. 1. Why should Israel be the only country that should be on the boycott list? For example, China is one of the worst human rights violators in the world, and it brutally and illegally occupies Tibet. Are you advocating a boycott of China. 2. Why are putting all of the blame for the failure of the peace talks on Israel. Are you advocating a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank? What happended when Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza? Was that a positive outcome? 3. How much, do, Dr. Monstrel, know about the details of the so-called Arab-Israeli conflict? I am looking forward to your responses.
8. fools!
dahn ,   nyc   (01.04.14)
ha, there IS no academia without israel! : )
9. #1 More than 3000 American universities?
Tahl   (01.04.14)
What have you smoked for breakfast? Out of about 5000 members of some obscure academic association, 1200 members voted, and only about 800 of them supported the boycott. A far cry from "3000 American universities".
10. #7 Apologies to Dr Mostrel

whose comment you have apparently confused with mine. Your childish taunt, "If you have any integrity then..." makes me question the legitimacy of the initials you feel compelled to add to your nick. 1. My opinion about how the world should respond to other countries' human abuses is consistent -and also irrelevant here. 2. You err: I am hoping the peace talks will be successful. That said, who else but Israel should b held responsible for its illegal settlements in occupied territories? Yes, I believe that evacuating Gaza on the eve of the Hamas take over likely saved numerous civilian lives and made it easier to defend ourselves. 3. Now semi-retired, I have studied it, taught it and lived it. over my entire adult life. I suggest you wait before attempting argument or discussion which the current negotiations will hopefully render moot .

On the Balcony   (01.04.14)
My attitude towards the use of international boycotts and sanctions is consistent. I advocate a renunciation of any claims to sovereignty over the occupied territories and a negotiated agreement to deal with existing illegal settlements. I believe that the withdrawal from Gaza on the eve of the Hamas takeover likely saved civilian lives and made it much easier to defend ourselves. One could argue that the Arab-Israel conflict began with Yitzak and Ishmael. I am familiar with both narratives since then, well informed about modern Israel (having lived it) and have studied relevant historical documents and international law (which I taught until my recent retirement). In short, the initials you feel the need to append to your nick amuse me

BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (01.04.14)
Never was a palestine and never will be. Israel will make a certainty of it. Don't know where or what you taught but, you are in grave error. The settlements will grow despite your opinion which, is invalid pals have pretty much shot themselves in the foot. They're split in two, haven't had elections in years and, neither entity will 'recognize Israel' as a Jewish nation state meaning, back to start. Meanwhile, to guarantee this, Israel's busily building more homes so needed in Israel so that many, many, more Jews will come home!!!! Hope Abbas visits Gaza for their annual 'roof toss' of opposing politicians. Soooo admirable. BUILDING AWAY BABY !!!!
14. #13 Sorry no apocalyptic rapture on
On the Balcony   (01.06.14)
the horizon for you. We shall hopefully soon know our borders and how manor settlers will return to Israel proper and how many shall become residents of Palestine. Bibi can make all the settlement announcements he wants -they fool no one. If Israel does not successfully negotiate its borders with Palestine, the world will impose borders on it. In either case, the settlement enterprise is nearing its end. We'll just have to wait a little longer to see whose opinion/prediction is correct.
