Political dimension is their oxygen? Does this mean that they live for incitement and action against the Jews? What happened to the good teachings of JC such as "Love your neighbour... "; etc,?

Shlomo ,   NYC. USA   (01.09.14)
Why would the Muslims have ANY interest in this? The Pope doesn't speak for the and has no authority in Israel.

Zechariah   (01.09.14)
Pope John Paul visited but not Pope Pius to argue for greater sanctuary for the Jews in Christian and Islamic Lands. For John Paul it was mission impossible too many Hardliners on both sides. Now things are worse as Tribalism and Religious Ideology are more antipeace than ever .
12. read Guilio Meotti's latest book understand what will happen
bezalel ,   Chicago   (01.09.14)
Just finished reading it, very well sourced. this will be in all likelihood highly politicized against Israel, with replacement theology as a driving force behind the events and messaging. Esav has not changed !
13. Welcome, Jorge
Dan   (01.09.14)
The current Pope is a decent man who is far more tolerant and human than some of his predecessors or fellow Catholics. He will enjoy Israel and encourage Palestinians to accept its basic cause (if not the settlers' megalomaniac fantasy) as just.
14. Chis #9: Catholic enemies...
Steve   (01.09.14)
Chris, I know and have known some wonderful Catholics on a personal basis. What gives? They do not know the history of their church? They do not know the Vatican and most of the popes are hostile to Israel?
15. Pope who calls Muslims Palestinians is a Liar.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (01.09.14)
The Pope's own Roman ancestors dumped this name on Jews. No salvation for liars.
16. Pope Francis
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (01.09.14)
As a Catholic and an American, it is always distressing to see the vitriolic comments about this pope in the Israeli press. What are you so afraid of in him? You find it distressing that he will eat with the poor and the exiled? Is that not consistent with Jewish values, too? That he is trying to bridge age-old differences with the Orthodox Christians? That he is acknowledging Jerusalem as a holy city? What is your problem? These baseless, often inane attacks only isolate a desperately isolated Israel even more...please, for your own sakes, stop.

18. Pope Francis - Peacemaking Role
Adam Neira ,   Di Zahav, Egypt   (01.09.14)
If Pope Francis really wants to have a positive effect on the Holy Land and Middle East, there are quite a few things he and his team can do over the coming weeks and months. This proposed visit in May is a long way off. His presence as part of a special delegation in Jerusalem is required before then. There is a narrative that needs to unfold from this point on. As all people of faith know, G-d is the utlimate executive producer. We should heed his direction. Stay tuned for more bat information...
19. #16 Gene: The only sensible comment. Thanks!

20. make visit conditional
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (01.09.14)
make the Pope's visit conditional on the church returning property that was stolen through the church's instigation against Jews for the past 2,000 years. Make the Pope's visit conditional on the church admitting its role in global anti-Semitism. Why give the church free entry to our land. Let us stand up against the lies of the church and make them repent before God?
21. to #16 french catholics made headlines in the last years

24. To Mr K and others.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (01.09.14)
Your statements about Pope Francis and his Church are hateful and stubborn. We, renewed Christians and Catholics, support and admire Israel very much. For us, Jewish people are our eldest brothers. Please, forget filthy past crimes. After darkness, lightness comes. Sincerely.
