1. So Says Chicken Little
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (01.09.14)
Anti-Israel extremists just look for excuses. So do Israeli leftist extremists.
2. Despicable leftist fear mongering
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.09.14)
The worst motive of all is fear. That is why criminals try to scare their victims into doing dumb self destructive things. Fear based decisions are NEVER good ones. The author, and his fellow leftists, are trying to scare Israel into ceding our rights and endangering Israel. We must respond to despicable leftist fear mongering with courage and strength.
3. "...deprived of the right to self-determination"
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.09.14)
The people who are depriving the Palestinian Arabs of self-determination are, 1)Abbas'Fatah and the PA who pretend to speak on the people's behalf yet never consult them nor hold long-overdue elections to determine a mandate, 2)Hamas who hold the people of the Gaza Strip in a violent vice-like grip and have never been elected rulers of that place. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
4. Remember one thing...
manicdrummer ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.09.14)
...and that s we have a protector, the Lord God Almighty. He will not forsake His chosen people.
5. No Western country is boycotting Israel-thats the good news
Alan ,   SA   (01.09.14)
Its only the settlements, stupid! Just hand them over after kicking out their inhabitant Jews and it will be fine.America will guarantee that ,for sure! The SETTLEMENT boycotts are designed to get Israel out of the "West Bank" AND hand over all land OUTSIDE the so called 1967 borders Already the Refugee Camps are filling up with trained and desperate Salafi,Hamas,Jihadi terrorists. They are practically no go areas for PA official forces and to an extent Israeli forces(whenever Israeli forces enter there are fire fights! The Pals will now use the territory that they have been "given" by the Western Countries to move to the next phase of their River to the Sea thing. They will do exactly what has been done in Gaza and Lebanon. The Salafi Jihadis and ISIL etc willnow do the rocket shtik, the tunnels etc etc US cares about Israels back like they cared about the South Vietnamees. As for the EU,well they have a thousand year history of destroying the Jews
6. In 3, 2, 1 seconds...
Daniel   (01.09.14)
... there will be lots of countless talkbacks from the US saying that we should ignore possible boycotts and go on building settlements. Well, that's easy to say for fanatics not living in Israel, it's not they who suffer if the economy turns sour. The problem with many of the so-called "friends of Israel" abroad is that they are only friends of their imagines Greater Israel. They are not friends of ordinary Israelis, quite the opposite. They don't care at all if most Israelis suffer to satisfy the fantasy of these foreigners who like to push us into isolation.
7. Self-appointed warrior for social justice
Micheal ,   Moscow, Russia   (01.09.14)
From the official web page of Dr. Assaf Sharon on molad.org/en/about one can read that once upon a time that guy served as ‘an advisor on the commitee of experts for the J14 Social Protest movement’. Took me a while to figure out that a pseudo-scientific term ‘J14’ stands for July 14th. And a correct English spelling for ‘commitee’ is committee Shame on those half-educated ‘doctors’ and self- appointed warrior for social justice trying to divert public opinion in Israel to the extreme left direction
8. Israel Cannot Listen to BDS
Eric R. ,   USA   (01.09.14)
The point of the Nazi savages who push BDS is to exterminate Jews. Israel must ignore them in order to live. And when I say "Nazi savages", that pretty much means all of the EU. After all, they have been out to exterminate Israel and the Jews since they refused to allow arms shipments over their airspace in 1973. Better to "dwell alone" than to not dwell at all.
9. The benefit of Boycotts
I. Barr MD FACC ,   Michigan,USA   (01.09.14)
The truth is that boycotts make Israel stronger. A bad dream: suppose Arabs would have agreed to 1948 borders...suppose we would have good relations with our neighbors.....half if Israel would have been in Amman, Beirut or Damascus...we would not have had Israel culture, language and army....we have a unique country. To the boycotters I say: " make my day" and we will give gas to the Palestinians, trade with India, Indonesia and China. Sodastream was sold in Costco....Walmart.....and Apple bought WASE. Buffett bought Iscar....all due to boycott of Israel.
10. Boycotts?
Naftali   (01.09.14)
This idiocy that the boycotts have anything to do with settlements is just that. Idiocy. If this is supposedly about "social justice" how come those so-called activists never boycott anyone else? The American Studies Association never boycotted anything or anyone, suddenly it's the Jews. There are too many who believe that anti-semitism is something we bring on ourselves. That is not to say that we must not resolve these issues with the settlements and gain peace., but Jew hatred has been around forever and it does not go away, they just call it something nicer these days,
11. Settlements are not the issue
k ,   US   (01.09.14)
I can assure you once you give in to the "terrorists" who want to see Israel isolated and boycotted, they will not stop there the realty is those who want to see Israel boycotted and Isolated have to be boycotted and Isolated themselves, and by doing that I mean they have to be removed from existing
12. All the more reason to transfer the triangle
Ron ,   oc us   (01.09.14)
That being said I think the EU has done about all the damage that it is willing to do. The academic boycotts have failed outright. Tell me how many EU citizens thar bought blue and white before such labeling will now stop buying. The Dutch pension manager that suspended investments in Israeli banks probably had very little invested anyhow.
13. "Academic boycotts" you say?Well then, there's little to fear
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.09.14)
since the so called Academia in Israel is often actively anti-Israel. Two negatives make for one big PLUS! That is a very scientific fact, no?
14. # 1 Be careful arrogant settler
Stan ,   Israel   (01.09.14)
As one who supports Lieberman's proposals for Arab towns East of Highway 6, I cannot be classified as a "Leftist extremist. On the other hand as an ex South African, I know exactly what awaits us if we don;t make every effort possible to reach an agreement with the Pals, and live in two separate states. I am a pragmatic Zionist who knows that God is not going to help us keep all of Yesha. Bar Kochba and Rabbi Akiva brought a holocaust on the Jewish people I beg you and your friends not to do the same.
15. "International consensus" says DEATH TO ISRAEL
(01.09.14)
Let's see "international consensus" bring ORDER AND PEACE to their OWN COUNTRIES. AM YISRAEL CHAI.!
16. BDS and SA Sanctions
Claude ,   UK & Cape Town   (01.09.14)
SA economy was far less diverse and dynamic than that of IL today . Mining minerals and some agricultural products formed the bulk of SA export income The A apartheid Movement was hugely successful in galvanising opinion across the world with a hugely diverse membership and long before the era of mass communications. Today the PSC movement in UK does not even have membership groups in most University Towns. Church and Trade Unions were instrumental in the AAmovement. These organisations are in rapid decline across Europe. Who goes to Church or joins a Trade Union today, it's so passé . Another significant difference between BDS today and AAM was the absolute and disciplined rejection by AAM activists of any hint or tolerance of anti white or racist views towards whites within the movement. Evidence of this can be seen if anyone cares to examine the AAM archives in Bodlean Library. BDS may have had some small successes, but the Palestinian Supporter Movements are so infested with anti Semetic rhetoric, so willing to indulge in this , so inept at tackling it, that the movement is tarnished in many circles. Another important and sad fact is that Palestinians, as. Arabs, and mainly Moslems do not generate the same sympathy amongst a generally islamophobia population in places like Europe. At the time of AAM , Europe's left and youth felt a real sense of shame over Apartheid. The same feeling is not widely felt towards Palestinians or Arabs. The attempt by BDS movements and Palestinian Support movements to equate IL with Apartheid SA is probably a big tactical mistake.
17. Ostriches
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.09.14)
Ostriches simply do not understand the cumulative effect of boycotts. But ostriches are renowned for being very stupid birds.
18. boycott
CJK   (01.09.14)
the boycott is being engineered by the obama regime.
19. Leftist Fearmongering
A Yid ,   Maale Adumim   (01.09.14)
Originally, the Left sold Oslo with the hope of peace. Now that "land for peace" has been exposed as a lie, all the Left has to sell is fear: Fear that Israel will be boycotted. Fear that Israel will be a bi-national state, etc. Ignore the Left, as they offer nothing but defeatism and loss for Israel.
20. The boycotters are hypocrites and sometimes even racists
David ,   Boston, USA   (01.09.14)
Its rediculous. the PA has a penalty of death for selling property to Jews. Looks at China in Tibet. Spain with the Basques. They are all a bunch of hypocrites and in some cases just plain racists. Israel should continue to due what is in its best interests, according to its morals, and live by those rules. Those who are haters will always be haters. That doesnt mean self reflection and improvements are not possible. Of course they are. But dont give in to these crazy people. Dont ever give in to them. NEVER again! I'd rather be right than popular any day of the week.
21. boycotting people based on nationality/religion is illegal
CJK   (01.09.14)
it is illegal to boycott people based on nationality or religion. boycotting is illegal under both international law and many domestic laws.
22. Islam Hates Jewish sovereignty in Eretz Yisroel
Zechariah   (01.09.14)
The Arabs and Iran hate Jewish Sovereignty and Armed Capacity in Eretz Yisroel especially Jerusalem .The 1967 borders with land swaps is a Truce Jesture but will not end the conflict not with seven and a half million Palestinians in Judae and Samariah the Majority Islamic Jihad or Fatah Baath Secular Jihadi.Area C ought be left Armed with the Jordan valley full of Armagedon Survivalist Infrastructure .Restraint in Settlememt Buiding is Justified for now. There are a few million Jews and a few billion Islam .The Jews. Need to defend greater than those Proportions .
23. self-hating lefty looney academic alert

24. After nearly 50 years of wrangling and
On the Balcony   (01.09.14)
complaining, and countless international resolutions what else can the West do? The settlements ARE illegal and the "Palestinian question" IS being used as a shield to cover the true motivations and intentions of Islamic Jihadists who are a threat to every country in the world. If it takes boycotts to make us finally listen to law and reason, so be it..
25. haven't we heard all this before?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.10.14)
when the world was condemning israel for the "occupation" of gaza, didn't the leftists promise us that all would be well if we withdrew those "evil settlers" from gaza? how did that work out for ya? apart from the 10,000 qassams, and 2 small wars, your leftist friends still organize flotillas and denounce the israeli "occupation". it seems like gaza wasn't quite the "piece" they were after? because the actual truth is that hamas and fatah AREN'T just after "the settlers", which is only a tactic to divide and conquer the gullible jews. no, their real goal, as spelled out in their respective charters, is tel aviv, and rehovot, and nahariya, and eilat and jerusalem. even abbas has said, quite clearly, that he will not tolerate even a single jew in "palestine", which we have seen, for him, extends from the jordan river to the sea. "an appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile, hoping to be eaten last."
26. Boycotts of Israel
MR ,   NJ,USA   (01.10.14)
The author is an academic. Move away from hysteria for a moment and make 2 lists. One list is all the things the rest of the world would be without if it had boycotted Israel for the past 65 years. The other is the reverse, what Israel would be without. The rest of the world would be short on computers, cell phones, software, environmental and water and medical technology etc., etc., etc. What exactly would Israel be missing technologically that would not, arguably, easily be replaceable? Israel would have moved AHEAD. If the day of boycotts does come, be wise. Do not share Israel's G-d given intellectual riches so freely with the rest of the world. Israel will not just survive. She will make the rest look like primitives. Look at the lists above. Do the math.
27. #6
sharon ,   israel   (01.10.14)
I totally agree with you. Almost all the hate filled, fanatic mail always comes from abroad. They can write in their warm, comfortable and non - threatened countries. If Israel doesn't wake up we will destroy ourselves.
28. #21 Boycotts and Sanctions are legal
On the Balcony   (01.10.14)
Israel 's settlement policy is in defiance of numerous UN Security Council resolutions (e.g., UNSCR 465) and, as noted by the International Court of Justice,,are a direct violation of the Geneva Convention . Under international law other nations are allowed (some argue obligated) to impose sanctions on Israel for as long as it continues to violate international law.
29. Legal settlements #24
Mickey ,   Sydney, Australia   (01.11.14)
The settlements are actually quite legal according to section 80 of the UN. It upholds the League of Nations resolutions and the league mandate system as clarified in the International court case on South West Africa. Under the League, Jews could settle anywhere in Palestine.
30. The settlements are legal
Chaim ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.11.14)
All the UNSCR resolutions regarding the West Bank are non binding as they were decided under section 6 of the security council, not under section 7 which would make them binding. TheCourts so called decision was an opinion only, also non binding and untrue as Israel does not forcefully transfer population to the WB. They all go voluntarily. There fore the settlements do not violate the Geneva Convention.
