1. I could never understand this argument made in US losers and
leo ,   usa   (01.17.14)
I see situation in Israel is no different. Man did not brake any laws and everything else is none of your business. Stop craving over other people's money. Earn you own, losers.
2. its legal, he's smart
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (01.17.14)
if he did not take all legal options to save his money he would be in my eyes stupid and I do not want a stupid PM. I would rather have a stupid opinion like this that stinks that have a stupid PM. I want a smart man who knows what is legal and does it, not some baby who is afraid to use the legal loophole. cry baby, cry.
3. No shame in having a legal foreign bank account
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (01.17.14)
What nonsense. Netanyahu's account was opened in 1999, after he had already left public service. It remained active until 2003, when he joined then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's cabinet as foreign minister. Netanyahu's office and other experts noted that his actions were in compliance with Israeli law. An amendment passed in 1998 made it legal for Israelis to open offshore bank accounts regardless of their place of residence. The funds must be declared through the proper channels along with other foreign assets. Netanyahu fulfilled all the legal requirements for transparency
4. Something else stinks...
Andrew ,   USA   (01.17.14)
Like the belief that one's personal property (i.e. money) is not actually one's personal property and that it actually belongs to the state. The belief of the socialist is that all wealth belongs intrinsically to the state, therefore you DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO KEEP MORE OF THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOR. It's root sin is covetousness which leads to theft by the very ones who are supposed to be protecting the property and wealth of it's citizens. I guess that's why socialism doesn't work, never has and is proven to be an abject failure all over the world. Just saying.
5. the left wants to destroy netanyahu

they will not suceed
6. Bibi and his Jersey Bank Account
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires-Argentina   (01.17.14)
I'll post again my opinion regarding the issue of the off-shore account of Bibi. Did Bibi moved LEGALLY some thousand u$d to his Bank Account in Jersey? What is the problem with that? Ha-Ha-Ha! and a lot of LOLs Please, israeli people, - Take a look to the BIg corruption that plagues the Government Officials here, in our Latin-American countries !! And also take a look over the big u$d "bajshees", and the multimillion dollar briberies that receive from Local and Multinacional Corporations, our incumbent President, Ministers, Senators, "Diputados", Governors, & other Government Officials here in Argentina, and take a look over their BIG accounts in the Swiss Banks!! Again - - LOL-LOL-LOL
7. What about the Tsipomonster?
Julia   (01.17.14)
Any scandals there? Family secrets? Start digging Attila et al!!!
8. Good for Netanyahu! Lior must be a loser in deep financial s
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.17.14)
9. It's because he knows that the govt. will squander his taxes
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.17.14)
anyhow: that's what governments do. Nobody gets prosecuted for half-brained projects&plans undertaken by endless committees of apparatchiks/ministers & such. But try to save some of your hard earned dole for yourself and suddenly you're a criminal! Tax evasion should be considered a MITZVAH on par with "Respect and covet your neighbor's wife" !
10. Well then don't blame others...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (01.17.14)
A true leader is supposed to set the example for others..... We have a proverb in Arabic which says : " If the shepherd is bad the cattle go astray " . Anyway this reminds me of Spiro Agnew ( Nixon's vice president ) who resigned in October 1973 because of tax evasion , and Yitzhak Rabin ( late premier ) who resigned in 1977 because of his secret bank account in New York City , and the late Prince Bernhardt ( husband of Dutch Queen Juliana ) who resigned all his posts in 1976 because of Lockheed bribery scandal...
11. it was NOT a tax haven
nava ,   jerusalem   (01.17.14)
even if others have used offshore accounts that way.. Bibi declared all the funds of that account, including its savings, when he filed his tax return with Israeli tax authorities. They were also declared on the his personal wealth statement filing This article is nothing but a smear.
12. The left are out to crucify Bibi again.
Avraham ,   Netivot area   (01.17.14)
Bibi did nothing wrong, he declared everything. It's all leftist gibberish to try & bring Bibi down.
13. #10 read the article
(01.17.14)
You comment is irrelevant. Agnew, Rabin and the Prince all committed crimes. Netanyahu did not commit a crime. Read #11 and you will understand that what he did was clean and honest as can be.
14. #7 remember
(01.17.14)
Remember Sharon's Greek Island affair and Barak's NPOs? Those were real crimes and real corruption, but the Left did not care because the criminals were anti-ZIonist Leftists.
15. The only thing that stinks
Sagi   (01.17.14)
is the Israeli tax system and rate. It is unjust and unfair. People will always pay tax if it is reasonable, when it is unreasonable they will always find alternatives, legal or otherwise. When a citizen feels he is being shafted by the the state he will do all in his power to return the compliment.
16. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.17.14)
You can look a lot closer to home, kiddo. How did Arafat (may his name be cursed throughout eternity) become a billionaire? And Abbas, Fayyad and the rest of that motley crew -- with their multiple lavish homes in Europe and their hefty offshore bank accounts -- while boasting a 40% unemployment rate in areas administered by the "Palestine" Authority, rampant inflation, collapsed infrastructure, zero interest in foreign investment, no social service programs, extreme reliance upon Israel for every single thing.... is it any wonder that there will never be an independent "Palestinian" state? Just looking at how "successful" the PA has been, or the hellhole that is Gaza -- why don't you leave the business of running a state to those who actually know how?
17. Yair Lapid ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.17.14)
.... is the last person on earth who should complain. I'm sure close scrutiny of his personal wealth will reveal that much of it is sheltered offshore. Probably most of it. I'll bet he doesn't declare any of it, either. Methinks he doth, after all, protest wayyyy too much.
18. I'm left but can't find any problem with a foreign account
Shachar ,   Eilat   (01.19.14)
It's a non-story of zero importance
