You are right on the money: there should be respectful and open discussion. Did the teacher give an example of an army more moral than the IDF? NO, he simply condemned the IDF without discussion. Worse, the teacher proudly said that he thinks Israel should be replaced with "Palestine". This teacher is a racist (he thinks Jews should not be allowed self-determination like other humans) and supports ethnic-cleansing and apartheid (official policies of both PLO and Hamas). This teacher has no place in Israel.

Notzan Horowitz was once leader of Meretz and was a candidate at the Tel Aviv mayoral elections but he doesn't know its actually illegal to preach politics in schools as it should be. Teachers from govt sponsored schools should not express their personal views on political issues. They should organise a debate or present the many sides of the issues/issues and leave it to the students to form their own opinions. In any event their ideas will change over the years but the methods used to reach a decision will not.
