1. Pls take better care of thos survivors..
Beary White ,   Norway   (01.27.14)
It brakes my heart to read about this. NOBODY, who have survived Holocaust should EVER have to suffer. If you have some incompetent politicians who are not able to do something about this, remove that politician or the bureaucrat, who is incompetent in his/her position. We also have these kind of politicians in Norway.
2. Terrible!
Esther ,   Norway   (01.27.14)
We should honour the survivors and not treat them like this. If there is one thing I think is important, it is to treat old people with love and respect. We have the life we have because the generation(s) before us started the process and we reap the fruits. If for no other reason - the way we treat others today is the way others will treat us tomorrow. This is a shame to Israel. Do something about it!
3. Many are willing to help.........including me...
Calibi ,   Sydney Aust   (01.27.14)
Please do not just give a sad and ugly story without an alternative! Just for "these old people" provide some more information and make an excess so people can help. And is a pleasure to help these people for GOD sake!!!!!
4. Lip service
Avi Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.27.14)
"Despite the government's decision to increase funds by over NIS 500 million ($143 million) in the next few years..." There are approximately 190,000 remaining survivors left in Israel, which works out to about $753 dollars per survivor. In other words, they will remain impoverished even after funds become available.
5. Very sad
Jo ,   Norway   (01.27.14)
It is very sad to read about this. I wish the Israeli government would take better care of the holocaust survivors.
6. The Holocaust Survivors
Ros ,   Tel Aviv   (01.27.14)
How many of the 59 Knesset members have been to Poland before! Maybe some of their fares, hotel accommodation and all their expenses could have gone to the Survivors - there is never enough money for them, but to send endless Knesset members overseas .........
7. Trip to Auschwitz for Knesset members
Patricia G ,   Maagan Michael   (01.27.14)
Well I would suggest that instead we pay for Knesset members to go to Auschwitz we should give this money and try to help more the remaining Holocaust survivors in Israel who are poor - it is just a shame!!!
8. Humbug tours.
Harry ,   Haifa, Israel.   (01.27.14)
A travel agency especially catering for the ever greedy Israeli MK , all inclusive of course. So folks, get elected and enjoy the service.
9. This is a no-brainer
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.27.14)
I understand that there are many demands upon Israel's social service budget, but is it wrong to suggest that Holocaust survivors who barely make it through the month take precedence over, say, the illegal Africans who impose such a drain on social service resources?
10. Less settlements and more compassion
Nathan ,   Italy / Israel   (01.27.14)
Why give away public money to settlers, and deny it to Shoa Survivors who need it for their basic living needs? But Survivors do not bring votes ... Is that Zionism or zinism?
11. Lets Help
Claude ,   London and Cape Town   (01.27.14)
Well I have never believed the State was best at looking after its neediest and most vulnerable Who are the best, most reliable charities in Israel Is this Foundation reliable and well run. I would certainly be willing to make a contribution, but as is so often the case I don't know who the best organisations are. These few remaining survivors should not want for food, warmth and social contact
12. Survivor aid
ik ,   USA   (01.27.14)
Let us start a new organization through social media amongst the diaspora which directly aids the Survivors in Israel. No high paid NY/NJ staff. No international Committee. No more dumpster diving.
13. Where is the help from the Jewish elite
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.27.14)
with the billions and trillions of dollars?
14. And our fat cat politicians live better than KINGS!!!!!!!!
It is DISGUSTING ,   Israel   (01.27.14)
Shameful beyond SHAMEFUL And absolutely unnecessary......
15. Israel's Biggest Mistake was....
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.27.14)
it took reparations money from Germany and put in the pocket of the State, and not directly into the pockets of the victims. Outside of Israel, the victims received the monies directly, and that was the proper and equitable thing for them. Here, the monies were snatched away from the victims and survivors leaving them with pitifully small hand-outs. Unforgivable moral error on the State's part.
16. Shoah Lawyers & Execs Have To Eat Too!
World Citizen ,   the world   (01.27.14)
They deserve a lot of this money. After all, if it wasn't for the lawyers the survivors would have gotten nothing. And the Shoah executives have to make sure that the money gets equally distributed. They deserve a cut. Why is everyone complaining?
17. To the Test
L.L ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.27.14)
Ok, Let's do it! For those of you who offered your help. I am all for starting a social media group for Holocaust survivors. My mother is a survivor currently living in Israel and I don't even know where to turn for her to have some social contact so that she doesn't have to be so alone! She is soo lonely most of the time she wishes she could go back to Europe where she had friends....
18. 17.
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.27.14)
The municipality of Jerusalem should be able to help you find a social club in Jerusalem especially for Holocaust survivours. Try a google search. ( There is Cafe Europa in Tel-Aviv, which is run by the TA municipality)
19. So, which charity is the best to..
Beary White ,   Norway   (01.28.14)
receive donations and distribute to the surviviors? Any similar to WIZO?
20. Survivors Help
ik ,   USA   (01.28.14)
You could start by setting up a blog or other instrument and advertise its purpose. Maybe also buy your Mother a smart phone
