1. EU and/or UN cops ? Read your history!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (01.29.14)
UN Sec Gen Moon said himself that the UN is biased against Israel. The Europeans have a sordid history of caving in to Palestinian terror and releasing mass murderers. Both the UN and EU have proven that they quickly cave in when confronted with terrorism. Under an EU or UN force, history shows that any Jihadist/Hamas action in E. Jm would be met with capitulation, not law enforcement.
2. Smoking the Peace Pipe
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (01.29.14)
What's in the Peace Pipe this time – legalized weed? A slap in the face to the IDF, one of the most formidable militaries in the world, to suggest that UN "PIECE-keepers" are more "professional" than these brave men and women who've kept HaEretz secure for over 60 years.
3. Love for israel
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (01.29.14)
The problem this musician has is that he doesn't understand that other people want this land that he is so ready to give away in exchange of a "promise" of peace. He should learn to love this country and then look again to his ideas!
4. surely you're jesting
meyer ,   israel   (01.29.14)
to bring in german and other EU troops to enforce piece between jews and arabs? didn't we go thru this up to the 1967 war? the EU and UN on israeli borders have prove to be totally ineffective. why would we subject ourselves to the same stupidity again?
5. As long as the secular left
Sam ,   PT   (01.29.14)
destroyers of Israel will not realize that ALL OF ISRAEL including ALL OF JERUSALEM belongs to Jews and TO JEWS ONLY - all others are guest - there will never be peace.
6. Scatter brained proposal.
Julius ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (01.29.14)
Its the perfect recipe for paralysis and trouble making. Something happened in 1967 and this has to be reflected in any deal. Keep it simple !!!
7. Even if the EU or UN would actually do their job
Andrew Brehm ,   Zurich   (01.29.14)
Brilliant idea! EU and UN forces catch homosexuals and people who sell land to Jews and execute them. Personally, I believe there is a problem with Arab regime laws PER SE, not so much with the question of how they can be enforced in areas not under Arab control.
8. I guess this guy has never heard of Lebanon...
James Lebanon ,   Boston   (01.29.14)
I guess this guy has never heard of Lebanon...
9. wan did west Jerusalem become part of the negotiations
Yitzhak levi ,   Israel   (01.29.14)
wan did west jerusalem become part of the peace talkes what's next telaviv it's east Jerusalem only we are having problems with, and it should always remain Jewish under Jewish law, or maybe we should all move to soudiaribia and let them govern us what a ridiculous article left trying to influenced and brain wash us
10. Worked like a dream in South Lebanon and Rafah
Danny   (01.29.14)
11. UN is a useless corrupted organization
Israeli   (01.29.14)
12. Article Is 100% Wrong
emanon ,   USA   (01.29.14)
To divide Jerusalem is tantamount to Israel giving up. If there is a third party overseeing a divided jerusalem, it will only be a matter of time before arabs will rise up to have them removed and call them "crusaders" and "occupiers".
13. Just like the UNIFIL in Lebanon, right?
Vlad   (01.29.14)
First of all, Jerusalem is legally Israel's. Under international law, Jerusalem was non-sovereign territory before Israel and Jordan started fighting over them, and were both claimants to the territory. In 1988, Jordan renounced all its claims, making Israel the only legitimate sovereign in Jerusalem. In short, Israel is fully sovereign in all of Jerusalem, in accordance with international law, and is not obligated to divide the city, regardless of how much the Palestinians and EU whine about it.
14. What if the Pals elect Hamas?
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (01.29.14)
15. These are bad ideas
a Jerusalemite   (01.30.14)
We have a problem in Jerusalem that this article fails to solve. If east Jerusalem will be under Palestinian control and there's NO wall then we'll be faced with a million problems. A few of them: 1. You will have millions of Palestinians who will have free acceess to east Jerusalem from the west bank and with no border will flood west Jerusalem and Israel. We're talking about people who live in a much poorer country (Palestine), without national security stipends, without the advanced Israeli medical services, with a much lower standard of living, and they will just flood rich west Jerusalem and Israel in their millions. Beside the demographic problem you'll have a serious security problem - how do you ensure that among this crowd there aren't any terrorits? As we know, many Palestinians are not exactly Israel's fans and will never be ones. 2. The Jews in Jerusalem want to feel that they live in a predominantly JEWISH ISRAELI environment. The problem we have already is that in the last 2 years the Arabs in east Jerusalem totally mingle with the Jewish population in west Jerusalem shops, coffee shops, parks, work places etc. Will their huge numbers they many time make 50% of the people and what was previously Jewish areas and this is a reality that many Jews in Jerusalem don't like at all. Of course the opposite doesn't happen because most Jews dare not visit east Jerusalem because of the terror attacks against Jews there - every other day a Jew is stabbed near Damascus gate and other polaces in east Jerusalem. So it won't do to have mixed neighborhoods in Jerusalem. We Jews don't want a dual national city or country. That is not why Israeli Jews have sacrificed their lies for and why Jews work so hard to create a modern and successful country. Not for it to be half Arab. We need a separation between the populations. The Arabs can come to west Jerusalem to visit as tourists, but they will be Palestinian citizens witout any Israeli benefits and without the right to buy houses in Israel. The same of course goes to Jews - MAYBE we will visit Palestine, but as tourists only.
16. You need to read Zechariah 14
olog-hai ,   PA, USA   (01.30.14)
Dividing Jerusalem in any way means war, and perhaps the biggest war the planet has ever seen. Foreign forces in Jerusalem draws reference to the "abomination that makes desolate".
17. They want the Kotel for peace
Yechiel   (01.30.14)
That's what Arafat said. Barak said no. So the Camp David or whatever fell apart. Your friend Yechiel
18. The UN and Arab refugees
Akiva ,   NYC   (05.25.14)
The UN created the problem of refugees by keeping Arabs who left Israel in refugee camps for 66 years, while Jewish refugees from Arab lands were integrated into Israel and Diaspora Jewry within a generation. The UN is more the problem than the solution.
