And what the Israeli state is doing is no different than what the Taliban did when it blew up those 2000 year old statues of Buddha carved into an Afghan hillside.
6. Who built 'Battir'?
Jake   (01.30.14)
The palestinian village of Battir is built over the ancient Jewish fortress of Beitar. In fact, the ancient part of the village is called Khirbet al-Yahud (the Ruins of the Jews) Beitar was the last stronghold of the Jewish rebels during the 135 CE Bar Kochba Revolt against Rome. After 135, the community there ceased to exist. Almost no artifacts date to the late Roman and Byzantine periods.

8. Infiltrators use the gap--
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.30.14)
Even if they aren't from Battir. A fence with a 3 kilometer gap is no fence at all, so the argument that Battir is peaceful isn't relevant. While I might sympathize with the residents of Battir and approve of their method of protest, it also should mean that once the court hands down its decision and all avenues of appeal are exhausted, they should have to accept the court's decision and not "continue to protest by other non-violent means". If they plan to continue protests if they don't like the court's decision, why did they appeal to the court in the first place?
