1. Oi Vey! No more free lunch here, in Brooklyn must go to work
miki ,   tampa   (02.06.14)
2. Should we all go and refuse to serve in the IDF
Haim   (02.06.14)
If it wasnt for the brave young men and women of this country who put their lives on the line and give the best years of their lives to the defense of our country there wouldn't be a country for the Harideem to live this so called life style of theirs. Why is their blood more precious than ours? There is a law in this country that states all men and women of a certain age must join the army and serve their country, if they dont like it then they can leave the country.
3. Lets make all universtys free and pay
Natan ,   Israel   (02.06.14)
to the students for study engineering because it will be good for Israel future. Is the same think they study Tora they say because they reinforce Israel. Ja. To have money you have to work no to study.
4. "Only in Israel"??
Daniel   (02.06.14)
Are these guys for real. Can they name ONE country in the world where they can study the Torah, get paid for it by the state without contributing anything? No, not even one. So skip the "only in Israel" talk. Israel is the best country for Jews. If you don't like it, and you aren't prepared to contribute, then just get out.
5. Haedi Dreams
Pinchas S. ,   Jordan Valley, Israe   (02.06.14)
A simple solution to the problem of true intergration of the Haredi population into Israeli society. I suggest to give them a State of their own, preferably some where in the middle of the Negev.
6. Free Ride is Over
Joe Mevorah ,   Lincoln, USA   (02.06.14)
My heart goes out to these freeloaders. They will actually come into the mainstream of Israeli society, and serve their country in the military. For the first time they will contribute instead of being a drain to the nation. The next step is to stop giving them tax payers money to live on, and actually train them to go to work. This ought to put the fear of God into these saintly people.
7. 4 Daniel. sadly they are
robert ,   Antwerpen (2018)   (02.06.14)
Beside that they are going against quite a few principles from the Tora that they are supposed to uphold. 1) hamotsi et atsmo min ha clal cafar be ikar =one who goes against the common interest is like he is foreswearing the essence of Tora. 2) kol Israel arevim ze la ze= All Israelis are interdependent 3) Cain said to God about Abel : Hashomer ahi anohi ? Am I my brother's protector? By refusing to protect his brothers, a haredi goes with the nature of Cain
8. Haredim ought learn Martial Arts.
Zechariah   (02.06.14)
The Haredim ought learn martial Arts including kick boxing and do cyber security particularly the Realy Bright Talmudists .Logically Israel cannot afford to subsidise them as there population grows so fast many ought learn a Trade .Hatzollah is good as is Hospital Work learning the signs of Basic diseases. In the Galut a lot work. Also Solar Powered Airconditionig and Water Purity and Food Health.
9. Haredi men Rioting
roxy ,   israel   (02.06.14)
Showing their true colors now, they don't want to serve in the IDF or do National service or work to support their families(some of them), by the way this is the only country where they do not support themselves. They want the status quo, their kids sit and"study" Torah and riot when something happens that they don't like, spit on Women etc and still get money ! If they won't serve in the IDf let them do national service by working in areas that they are needed like harvesting food, packing boxes of medicines, checking on elderly Holocaust survivors to make sure they are eating and getting medical attention, work with Olim etc. something to earn their keep.
10. What are these guys doing protesting?
Mike Hochman   (02.06.14)
Shouldn't they be studying and praying? If they have time to protest, they surely have time to serve in the military.
11. haredi gedolim agree protesters should be drafted
mordechai   (02.06.14)
The haredi gedolim all agree that draft defermwnts only exist for students who are full time learners. If they have time to organize and go to demonstrations they are not learning full time and per the gedolim must serve.
12. If these guys want money, they better go to work.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.06.14)
13. Send them all to Lithuania
Sidney ,   USA   (02.06.14)
As a Litvak, I know that they will be treated as they deserve there.

Rob ,   Ashqelon, israel   (02.06.14)
16. Corrupt politics
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (02.06.14)
These clowns could not behave as they do without our corrupt political system. Its as simple as that.
17. Can't the Rabbis take care of
Aron   (02.06.14)
Lapid and Bennett like they took care of Sharon?
18. Move here?
zelig ,   memphis,u.s.a.   (02.06.14)
If the haredim move to the United States, they will become participants in the "knockout game" because our liberal establishment thinks that such games are an acceptable form of expression.No..the U.S. is NOT the solution. The solution is for the Haredim to act in the best interest of themselves as well as in the best interest of Israeli. When they do,they will engender more love and less contempt in the eyes of secular Israelis. And THAT is ias it should be!
19. #17 The thousands of heart rending prayers
Sara ,   Bnei Brak   (02.06.14)
at the great protests around the country surely took care of it.
20. Hareci men protest
Alice ,   Israel/Canada   (02.06.14)
Yes they are for real. In other countries, some people under age 25 or so, or even older, do not work neither study and yet they receive help from their governement to live on and have access to free medical services and medecine. Our Torah students are sitting and learning and by their Torah study protect you and me and the rest of Israel. They contribute largely tothe well being of the country. Stop bashing them, Please.
21. #4 how about US, UK?
(02.06.14)
Look at workforce participation in US and UK, and you will see that there are people who are paid not to do anything. The difference is that in the US and UK they get benefits that they spend on drugs, alcohol, violence and vandalism while here they study Jewish culture and raise Jewish children.
22. Isn't this a prophetic sign of Mashiach return
Haredii ,   Zambia   (02.06.14)
23. Since you ask
Peter ,   Jerusalem   (02.08.14)
There are available scholarships for yeshiva students in many countries. I dont know if they are paid by the state, but for sure you can make a living studying tora outside of israel.
