1. Gantz is silent on "equal sharing burden"
Sam ,   PT   (02.10.14)
because he's well aware that hareidim are already sharing their burden by learning Torah and keeping G-d's commandments which are the strongest protection for the land. There's no reason they need to share a double burden and make up for the 50% of secular draft dodgers who do not share any burden.
2. Gantz is not ready to become a BT
Sam ,   PT   (02.10.14)
and neither would he want the IDF soldiers to become BTs. If hareidim join, the army will be influenced by hareidi soldiers and, G-d forbid, make it a Jewish Torah army. Would the "supreme" court and Lapid be able to live with it?
3. Keen Competition Elite Units
Zechariah   (02.10.14)
I had the Impression there was a keen competition for elite combat units the Airforce and Navy commandos led now by the Religious Zionists from Habayit Hayehudi .I cannot project Haredim as skilled fighter Pilots or Tank Commanders to be Honest . Hatzollah yes .They already dominate this in the Gallus .
4. the problem
(02.10.14)
Gantz is politically identified with the Left, and will probably join Lapid, Livni (if her party still exists) or Labor when he leaves his current job. He therefore can't come out against any Leftist initiative such as the Haredi draft. At the same time, Gantz knows the truth: the Haredi draft will damage the IDF, the IDF does not want or need the Haredi draft, and the only reason it is an issue is to incite hatred for the Haredim and destabilize Netanyahu.

8. Isn't it obvious?
HH ,   Jerusalem   (02.11.14)
Clearly, a former Galei Tzahal reporter understands the nation's security requirements better than a lifelong military man who presently leads the IDF . . . .
9. IDF and Politics
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (02.11.14)
The only people committed to drafting almost all B'nai Torah are people like Lapid with a political agenda. It's not the IDF who are trying desperately to draft B'nai Torah. IDF service for women is also complicated. From a Jewish perspective women should not be in combat units, but can do alternative national service.
