1. As you see, statehood does not guarantee peace
Tracy W   (02.10.14)
There's no peace anywhere in the ME outside Israel. Where there is no outright carnage, there's oppression, and most often both at the same time. The Palestinians are already divided and have been at each other's throat. So what kind of fantasy are pursuing those engaged in "land for peace" negotiations? And what kind of people could ever believe it? The ongoing tragedy in Syria, added to those in other Middle Eastern countries, is proof enough that statehood alone guarantees nothing. Solutions imposed by outside powers are an exercise in futility and bound to make things worse. The United States has been actively supporting and arming local and foreign rebels in Syria. The United States has also been deeply involved in promoting the "Arab Spring" and lessening sanctions on Iran. Both policies have blown up in their faces. It's time for the United States to reflect on the consequences of their policies - before they continue to bully Israel into submission.
2. Who gets the movie rights?

Sometimes I wonder whether genocide like this is Hashem's gift to Hollywood. Think of how much money Hollywood will make on "Senseless in Syria ". Arms makers make a killing in genocide like this .The opposing street gangs of shiites, sunnis, and alawites make their killings. And so too will Hollywood. Remember the Killing fields ..or Hotel Rwanda ? And wasn't there a movie about Guernica? And "moving" speeches... The politicians will knock 'em out like Yona Shimmels makes knishes. Kind of almost makes you want to give up on humanity, don't it?

Thank you for your thoughtful post. It isn't a question of whether imposing a ridiculous and faux "peace" on Israel is workable. Everyone knows that the "Palestinians" would break the agreement before the ink has dried. The real issue is considerably older, and even uglier -- it's anti-Semitism. Hatred for the Jewish people has not disappeared; since 1948, it has morphed into hatred of the State of Israel, that most tangible symbol of the Jewish people. Oh, modern-day anti-Semitism is couched in other terms -- e.g., "anti-Zionism" -- but no one is fooled. We know it for what it is -- good, old-fashioned Jew hatred. The only difference now is that the Jews can fight back, and have fought back. The Europeans and other anti-Semites across the globe just don't know what to make of Jews who will not be cowed and will not be bullied. Goes against their expectations. Looks like they'll need to acquire a whole new set of expectations, because Israel is here to stay.

I agree with your post. There is a semi-hidden agenda behind the efforts for "peace". It's funny how they hijacked that word peace to mean simply partition. Another partition. If it's peace that "friends" of Israel are really after, they would not have been arming Egypt to the teeth, and would not have bullied Israel into giving them the Sinai. On the contrary, they would want a more secure Israel, not one only 9 miles wide. And so on...

Amazing, isn't it? And we got there without forcing child brides to marry their much-older uncles or be killed by their families; we got there without lopping off hands and chopping off heads; we got there without shielding a mass murderer for ten years. Who'd have thought?

It's a terrible agenda, though. It doesn't seem to matter -- it would appear that the prime order of the day is the destruction of the State of Israel. What the world would do without Jews, I don't know; they seem to be highly dependent upon Jewish innovation, Jewish technology, Jewish legal acumen, Jewish medicine .... perhaps that's the reason for the anti-Semitism. Must be rather hard to take knowing that 13 million people have contributed so stunningly to civilization while those who number in the billions haven't contributed squat. But we'll never find out. If Israel goes ... so does everybody else. Israel WILL pull down the temple walls; justifiably so. If we cannot be; no one else can, either. Fair's fair.
