when he is of legal age.
2. The hight court is the voice of reason of Israel
Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (02.12.14)
It's always reassuring to read some common sense...
3. No reason
(02.12.14)
a non-Jewish woman needs to circumcise her child. Her conversion in order to marry a Jewish man is anyhow not kosher which makes her a non-Jew anyhow.
4. If these parents are Jewish......
Israeli 2   (02.12.14)
they must circumcise their son on the 8th day. No court and no Finestein or Weinstein have any say in this matter. Besides, it is healthier to circumcise than not.
5. #4 is that so?
Yoni   (02.13.14)
Says on my ID Jewish but if you think we are mutilating our child at the age of 8 days you had better think again. Circumcision is a barbaric practice and should be made illegal.
6. #5 ID cards don't determine Jewishness
cantstandidiots ,   Israel   (02.13.14)
Don't circumcise, your son won't be Jewish. Plain and simple. Might as well leave Israel now so he can grow up with a Goyish identity instead if growing up confused
7. @6 dont be silly
Suzanne   (02.13.14)
You are Jewish when your mother is not Jewish and not when someone cut of a part of your body. If that were the case, women would automatically not be Jewish and muslim men would be Jewish.

Let the boy also decide if he wants to be born . How many times must it be repeated that a circumcision at "legal" age is more hurting than at 8 days ? The "jewish roots" you claim to have are far far away ....
9. Mother trembles, an additional damage from circumcision.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.13.14)
Has anybody taken into account the suffering of mothers whose sons are circumcised on the eighth day? It must be an excruciating pain for the mother who loves her newborn son. Men also suffer, I am sure, but studies have shown that mothers are attached much stronger than men to their sons at the early stage of child's life. This barbaric custom of circumcision has caused so much damage, and it continues to define mindless adherence to some vague religious prescription. Some people even say it is healthy to person's life if the person stops washing himself. I admire this mother who is fighting against authorities stuck in the Dark Ages. Bravo to her and to the Attorney General of Israel. They are fostering a debate that will deliver legislation eliminating circumcision from the lives of people everywhere. Dark Ages need to be erased once and for all.
10. Correction to 7
Suzanne   (02.13.14)
I said: "You are Jewish when your mother is not Jewish" Of course this should have been "You are Jewish when your mother is Jewish "

What makes you think that he will want to be circumcised when he is an adult? Maybe he will be happy that his parents left him intact.
12. 9 Michael, CA,USA: The dark ages are separation from HaShem.
Rivkah   (02.13.14)
Circumcision is an EVERLASTING commandment, not a choice if one wants to be part of the blessings of Abraham. Even the Muslims know circumcision is necessary for the blessings of Abraham, but Christians and Jews seem to miss that important requirement the Lord required of Moses and his sons and that Joshua required of males before they could fight in his army to go into the Promised Land long ago. HaShem does not change. You believe lies which are the true dark ages, the decptions of Satan to keep people from the promises of HaShem.

"Circumcision is an EVERLASTING commandment, not a choice if one wants to be part of the blessings of Abraham." Perhaps the child, when he becomes an adult, won't want the "blessings of Abraham". It isn't your choice to make.

"cantstandidiots" No sense of irony, have you?
16. #4: "No court...have any say in this matter"
Hans Castorp   (03.02.14)
If you were being consistent, this would mean that this woman should NOT be forced to surgically alter her son by ruling of a court.
