All of Jerusalem belongs to Israel. Why is this exactly news?

has been a normal united city, but for 19 years of its existence, between the years 1948 and 1967 during which the Arabs, illegally, ruled over parts of it. There isn't a single reason on earth why the capital city of the state of Israel and the spiritual and administrative center of the whole Jewish people should be subdivided, again, only because the Arabs want it this way. And, if it ought to stay united under Israel's sovereignty, there isn't a single reason on earth why its dead should be buried elsewhere, Arabs as well as Jews. Thus, let the city planners work, and the city administrators govern it.

A bit of history: The Sheikh Jarrah settlement was one of several beyond the Old City walls begun in the late 19th century. Intended to house Jews, Muslims and Christians, under the Ottomans it was constructed of six neighborhoods - four predominantly Muslim, two predominantly Jewish. Those two were cleansed of Jews during the war of 1948-49. Jews are just returning to their old neighborhoods. The question one might ask is why could Jews live there prior to 1948 but it's deemed "Judaization" or an "obstacle to peace" if they try to do so in 2014?
