1. I have few questions for Spanish crown.
blog2038 ,   USA   (02.15.14)
Why now? Why were waiting for over 500 years? Are you planning to return to ancestors of your victims what was stolen? Or are you looking for Jewish money (again) to pull your country out of tight spot? Once your country's economy is restored are you going to expel/kill Jews again?
2. A positive step!
Miron ,   Israel   (02.15.14)
Besides the positive attitude of Spain to this matter, they are also interested to bring money and prosperity to a country eroded by deep recession and unemplyment.
3. How could Jews enrich Spain when they were all kicked out
Alan ,   SA   (02.15.14)
over 500 years ago. Whatsmore... today Spain is just as anti Jew as ever.it was. Do me a favour!
4. this a deja vu moment
Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (02.15.14)
I think it was in the 16th century that the King of Poland opened his doors to the Jewish people. He knew they would kick start the Polish economy. Jews flourished their for hundreds of years and then the Christian Poles got jealous. Literally the Poles bit off the hand that fed them. After WW2 Poland again went into the crapper.
5. Ratepayers

7. King Juan Carlos: Please do as the kings in Christ's
Rivkah   (02.15.14)
Millenial kingdom will do every year to get rain for their nations. They will visit Jerusalem and pay homage to Yahoshua the Jewish Messiah, the High Priest after the Order of Melchisedec, Son of Yahovah Abba Father. Put your requests for your nation on a paper and put it into the openings between the Jerusalem rocks of the Western Wall, the Kotel, where the Lord promised to keep as a dwelling forever. The First, Second, Third and Fouth Temples in Jerusalem will not all be destroyed. The Fourth Temple will last and above it will be the heavenly Jerusalem. That is why the city is called YerushalayIM. IM is PLURAL.

"It sends an important message about the need to confront history, that you can't avoid the events of the past." - Let start with Jewish contribution in civil war in 1936 in the attempt to hijack Spain from their rightful owners and establish communism in Iberia ,... It looks like the King is not familiar with rebe Ovadia Yosef comments about his and his subjects role in Jewish life

As a Sephardic, I would appreciatly ask the American Jewish leaders to not get too involved in the Spanish arena, when in case of the new redemptive action of Spain towards correcting the sins committed against the forfathers (and Mothers, especially) of the currently alive and well, Sephardim. Toll act to follow! Though, many of today's Ashkenazes (the Horrowits, Wolffs, Shlesingers and others) saw their beguinning as Sephardic ,and also vice-versa, (as in Austria and German, Hungary and some of the Ukraine Jewish population s)begun as Sephardics, in the Israel reality, the division could'nt be more rooted than history would have taught us Read Y.L. Perets). Let Mauricio Toledano, the President of the Jewish Federation of Spanish Communities to follow the route the Spaniards themeselves support and advance. No "bribery " from the American Jewish Leaders to 'poor' economicaly Spain will change the course of the Act of the Spanish Parlement. We the Sephardic Communities from Israel to Ecuadorand Peru, shall be upset if anything which will serves the aims of the American, that contradicts the Spirit of the Enactment, should ever come to live.
14. #6 I've got news for you, Kowalski
Expat ,   Adelaide   (02.15.14)
Not only Spain wants its Jews back, so does Poland. They know what's good for them.
15. As usual the journos get it all wrong
Leon   (02.15.14)
The citizenship for Sefardis was established by Spain's post-Franco constitution some 35 years ago already. Citizenship is granted within 2 years, whereas others wait for many more years. Whether or not you can keep other passports is not dependent on the King of Spain, one of whose titles by the way is "King of Jerusalem", but by the other country/ies authorities.

What about the fact of stabbing their host nation in the back during Moorish conquest and correcting their sins against Spaniards? ,...

Countries with a significant number of your homies (US, Canada, G. Britain, Australia, Argentina, France, Hungary) are sinking in 'red' while countries with minuscule presence or absent (Norway, Finland, Netherland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Hong Kong, Singapore) to name few, are prospering ,... By the way Poland is one of those with minuscule and doing fine ,...

Spanish passport that doesn't come with any monetary compensation.
20. Huh?!
manicdrummer ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.15.14)
"Our history has been profoundly enriched with Spanish Jews' contributions to the arts and sciences, to commerce and philosophy. We are extremely proud of this legacy" Yeah, until 1493, when all the Jews were expelled from Spain. Keep your offer of citizenship offer, pal!No Jew in his/her right mind would take you up on it after what your cruddy country did to their ancestors.

Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (02.15.14)
I wet my pants from laughing at your post. "Stalin's Jewish goons" You must be one of those dumb Polaks my Polish mother-in-law hired to clean her house after she arrived in Montreal. Big strong like bull and just as dumb. No split you should spend time in the library to read about your heritage of hate filled blood lines.
22. @15 wrong!
Samach Tet ,   Jerusalem   (02.15.14)
Franco gave all Jews living in Spanish Morocco Safe-Conduct documents to get them out of Morocco and into either Spain or Israel. What you are referring to is a law for South Americans who can prove that they have Spanish ancestors and then they can be fast tracked for citizenship within 2 years. Your final point is partially correct that ONLY the country or countries of which one holds citizenship can decide whether or not to remove that citizenship as a penalty for accepting Spanish Citizenship. For your information while His Very Catholic Royal Highness the King of Spain is also the "King of Jerusalem" is open to debate. While Don Juan Carlos is the only sitting monarch who can lay claim to the title there are a at least 1/2 dozen other defunct European Royal Houses who can make the same claim. In fact the claim of the House of Savoy is stronger than the Spanish Monarch's claim. So before you go filling your mouth with little phrases like "As usual the journos get it all wrong" please do go fill your head with accurate knowledge so that your fingers won't show how uneducated you are! Wishing you a Shevua Tov.

Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (02.15.14)
Hey schmuck please explain why all the countries you mentioned need to re-look at their immigration policies due to the number of immigrants wanting to get in. I do not see the same line up at the Polish embassies. And by the way my "homies" in Israel are fairing quite well thank you. Remember Israel split. Hope it gives you nightmares.
24. I see that none of you are reading the Spanish Press...
the family Sefardi ,   Israel   (02.15.14)
In Spanish ALL of the Spanish Press is using a very troubling expression: "Derecho al returno" which translated into English is "Right of Return" That is insult number 2! Insult number 1 is that this proposed law is going through the motions just a short time after Spain voted in FAVOR of the improved rights and privileges for "Palestine" in the United Nations. People put 1 and 2 together and you get three! and in the meantime the American Jewish Leadership DIDN"T even bother to meet with the Spanish Jewish leadership or any other Sefardi-Jewish community during their photographic tour and junket in Spain. What are the American Jews looking for? To set up another multi-million dollar business just like the one they have on behalf of the starving and dying holocaust survivor? No thank you. I'll keep my Israeli Passport -- tis more than enough.
25. No reason for nightmares ,...
split ,   US   (02.16.14)
... and nothing to be jealous of - In regard of prosperity just take a look at two marginal seashore cities in 1948. TelAviv build by your homies with a help of German and US handouts and compare it with Hong Kong ,... Compare it with Warsaw, a city that was leveled at the end of WWII and under commie occupation 'till 1989.
26. Spain and the Jews.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.16.14)
Of course, Spanish history is full of violence, brutality and intolerance toward Jews, Muslims, Protestants and all people who opposed royal absolutism and oppressive clericalism. Here, in Latin America, milions of Indians were killed and enslaved. . But that country has suffered very much for it. Remember Civil War (1936/39) and Franco's dictatorship. Nowadays, under a Democratic Constitution, Spain wants to build a better future, that, surely, includes your people.
27. Spanish Citizenship
Tom ,   Columbus, USA   (02.16.14)
This certainly does send an important message about "the need to confront history." If Jewish families that were expelled in 1492 can get citizenship in Spain, then Palestinian families that were expelled in 1948 should be granted the right to live in their homes, on their own property.
