These guys- absolute heros. Where is the equal burden share rhetoric speakers. Or that was just another fashionsble statement to have votes.
3. A dumbed-down IDF - enemies must be very happy
Shlomo   (02.16.14)
These people give the country its qualitative edge and they are being let go? Very short-sighted. Surely, something can be done to make it attractive to stay in service?

$171K a year! Just tell that to American Jewish University students and watch Aliya soar! Who needs Taglit?
7. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Avner ,   Tel Aviv   (02.16.14)
They can contribute more economically to Israel if they work in the private sector (the tragedy is only if they go to work in the US). The essential thing is to get more people trained - that's all. The supply of labour trained in the necessary skills needs to be increased. The journalists who write for Yedioth Ahronoth will struggle to understand this concept however.

9. To stop the drain - quadruple budget in this field
Zal ,   Natanya   (02.16.14)
Today's and tomorrow wars will be based on ability to cripple and disable enemy's ability to handle their computerized military. Israeli army ability to do this, depends today on these young guys, recently graduated in computer sciences in Technion and other schools. If Ministry of Defense doesn't care, then the snowball will gather momentum, and not only these guys won't stay in army, but new recruits will prefer to do army without signing any contracts. Not only that, I see many talented people in their 30s-40s are leaving for Canada and US. Ministry of Defense needs to overhaul the whole system and inject much much more $$$$ into army hitch field.
10. #1 perfect solution
(02.16.14)
The only two things that will keep a Leftist employed in IDF is lack talent or more money. If the IDF guarantee the Haredim kosher food, time to study Torah, and separation from women, they will serve their country professionally and faithfully. When you try to social engineer them by forcing them to eat non-kosher food and spend time with women, you get a brain drain.
11. #7 Security is more important
Moshe ,   Israel   (02.16.14)
Their contribution to the country is greater in the army than in a private firm. Most Tel-Aviv residents must get that Israel faces grim security problems, and life comes before well being.

msh ,   Haifa   (02.16.14)
I don't know where you are from, but your talk about anti-Zionist haredim serving 'their country', in your words, is the complete idiocy.
