1. In the first article on this subject
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.16.14)
it was said that this will have little or no influence on the Jewish people because they import kosher meat since ten years . There are around 250,000 muslims in Denmark , less than 10,000 Jews . Is this law anti-Semitic [ anti Jewish ] ?
2. Ridiculous and dangerous
Daniel   (02.16.14)
The minister's rant is as ridiculous as it is dangerous. Ridiculous, as it clearly does not hold. I don't agree with this ban on slaughter, but it's a general ban that has nothing to do with any particular group. What is more, all kosher meat in Denmark is already imported so it has no impact at all for the Jewish community. Dangerous, as it seriously undermines the argument against anti-Semitism. Anti-Semitism is a very real problem and one we should fight. If even a deputy minister cannot tell what is anti-Semitism and what is (misguided) concern for animal rights, then we're in danger of seeing all criticism against anti-Semitism lose meaning. Remember the boy who cried 'wolf' too often. Criticize anti-Semitism, but stop this bizarre habit of thinking everything everywhere is anti-Semitism.
3. Wrong approach
Jerome ,   AKL   (02.16.14)
Israeli ministers should have used this opportunity to tell Europe : "You cannot be trusted, Jews cannot live equally as minority among you. This is why a strong nation state of the Jews is needed within its secure borders. No gentile can be trusted even after 40 years in the grave. You never now when he will wake up in the wrong side of the bed.
4. What about hunters???
Shalom ,   USA   (02.16.14)
So Denmark wants to ban shechita for humane reasons, but they have no problem with allowing hunters to shoot and maim deer, rabbits, foxes and other animals? Being shot can be a lot more painful for an animal than ritual slaughter. Their racists double standards are sickening.
5. The Danes are right!
Ben   (02.16.14)
Why should religious fundamentalism come in the way of animal rights? Those who cry anti-Semitism must ask themselves why they think it is okay to tortune animals in the name of tradition, are you moral and ethical? No you're not.
6. Has he discussed the matter with the animals ?
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.17.14)
"Kosher slaughter is the most humane of all existing methods and prevents animal suffering," said Chief Rabbi David Lau. "
7. Well done Denmark
Haim   (02.17.14)
Well done Denmark in stopping this horrendous barbaric crime of inflicting unnecessary of inflicting pain on animals in the name of religion. Such people should be more concerned with what comes out their mouths rather than what goes it. this so called Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan is a religious fanatic who does not speak in my name. He clearly shows religion politics should be seperated.
8. #3 then get out of Christian nations
Mike   (02.17.14)
Go to Israel where you can practice your muslim style barbarities. Christian nations have a right to set policies based on their religion as Jewsl certainly claim the right in their country, Israel. Unless you want Christians demanding that Israel allow Christian religious practice to be made legal, don't dare do that in our nations.
9. Stop yelping ,...
split ,   US   (02.16.14)
It's their country and their rules ,... No one is forcing you to stay there, blend in or get the hell out ,...
10. Absurd intervention in Danish internal affairs.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.17.14)
Danes regulate their own slaughter laws and this rabbi's opinion is his private, not representing Israeli government or citizens of Israel. Whether Danish laws are right or wrong is for the people of Denmark to decide in their democratic process. The Jews there can form a political party and fight for their legal rights in any way they see it fit. Israel doesn't have the right to intervene in Denmark internal affairs, but voicing private opinions by individuals in Israel and printing it by Ynet is perfectly all right. .
11. Laws of Judaism belongs to Juda not to Danmark !.,
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (02.17.14)
All Jews of Danmark has the opportunity and the Suppoert of HASHEM, to make Alya and praktice HIS laws in Israel. That is what HASHEM wants. Arn.Sweden.
12. #1
NilsG ,   Helsingborg, Sweden   (02.16.14)
Apparently the Danish Moslems have come to the conclusion that eating meat from stunned animals, then halal butchered, is OK. So, not a problem for them.
13. Shameful and hurtful remarks
Sagi   (02.17.14)
1 There should not be a Ministry for Religious Affairs in a democracy. 2) Ben Dahan, and people like him should not be in government. 3) There is nothing, repeat, nothing, anti Semitic about Denmark enacting laws that are compatible with the values of their society.
14. 8 And Christian practice is illegal in Israel, you say?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.17.14)
Do tell! Explain precisely how that is, if you will. Then we can compare notes on religious rights and the rights of minorities, and see where that takes us. The current law in Denmark does little for the rights of animals (since the so-called "humane" practice of hitting an animal's head with an iron bolt isn't quite accurate, or consistently successful - it just looks better post-fact), and does quite a lot to discourage the so-called undesirables without actually saying, specifically, that Denmark would like to bow out of the European Union's immigration policies. It *is* largely focused against Muslims, mind, but the same people don't much like Jews, either, so there's a definite whiff of anti-Semitism - and much larger stink of institutionalized bigotry and marginalization of minority beliefs.
15. #8. "Muslim style barbarities".
Ram ,   London   (02.17.14)
It says a lot about you!
16. Deputy minister calls Danish slaughter ban 'anti-Semitic'
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (02.18.14)
These people have a problem with the suffering of animals but have ignored for centuries the suffering of their jewish citicens.
17. Double standards for all
Marlene Newesri ,   New York City   (02.18.14)
Actually, there is hypocrisy on all sides here. First, if there is such a concern about killing animals humanely as what is emphasized with meat that is "kosher," then surely, Israel should be concerned about the inhumanity it constantly inflicts on the Palestinian people (which is not "kosher.") For Denmar to claim that kosher slaughter causes animals suffering, they just killed an innocent 2 year old giraffe in a Zoo because he was "surplus." Not only did they kill him, but his body was chopped up in front of parents and their children who were invited to this "event," and then he was fed to the lions claiming that it was some form of an "educational" tool. Even an offer of $680,000 for Marius the Giraffe was denied, and he was killed. All are hypcrites here.
18. What's wrong with these Scandinivians
James McNamara ,   Dublin Ireland   (03.12.14)
Norway and Iceland slaughter WHALES.... AND THEN THESE CANNIBALS EAT THESE WHALES.....Sick and nasty racist pigs who have no MORALS..
