Dear Ambassador, it is all very well and indeed, were I an animal, I would surely much prefer to be slaughtered in Denmark in the proper way. But regarding the insulting accusations of antisemitism and where they may come from, since the object of the law is obviously the humanitarian regard for the way animals would or should wish to be killed, why permit hunting in your beautiful country, hunting of all kind of animals, an activity that involves the killing of animals just for the fun of it. Hunting surely provokes more pain, anguish, fear and terror in an animal by the chase, the wounding, the botched killings than any ritual slaughter. So why the banning of the ritual slaughter alone. Wherever ritual slaughter has been banned, hunting prospers and I do not hear that many voices are raised against it. So, at the end, dear Ambassador, the truth is that we do not care so much about the animals. We just get hot in harassing a very particular minority: just a different kind of hunting.

If the Danes were genuinely concerned about animal pain and suffering, they would ban hunting, which causes far more suffering to animals, especially to those that escape after being wounded, to die a slow and hideously painful end. That they decide to focus on kosher slaughter proves unambiguously that the motive is anti-semitism - especially when combined with their odd obscession to ban religious circumcision. The Danish attempt to deflect criticism by pointing out how they saved Jews during WW2 some 70 years ago is simply idiotic: 70 years before Hitler, Germany was hospitable and friendly to Jews, too, their most accomplished and valued citizens, 48,000 of whom died fighting for their beloved Kaiser in the 1st World War.
