Resistance? Against what? Stupid.
2. Is Lebanon serious?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.28.14)
They're going to the United Nations crying breach of Resolution 1701? Laughable. The ink on the resolution wasn't quite dry when Hezbollah started to seriously breach the very resolution upon which Lebanon now wishes to rely. Moreover, Lebanon actually allowed Hezbollah into the Lebanese government. It wasn't a wise move, but they made it, and so Lebanon is now responsible for any actions taken by Hezbollah. It may not be fair, and it may well be that Lebanon was helpless to stop Hezbollah from entering the Lebanese government, but why would that matter? Did they ask for any other country to intervene in order to prevent Hezbollah from assuming a role in the Lebanese government? No, they did not -- and silence is legally construed as consent. Does Hezbollah speak for the majority of the Lebanese people? No, in point of fact Hezbollah's support is confined to two relatively small Shi'a enclaves. So what? The internal machinations of Lebanon's politics are a Lebanese problem. That said, Israel has long had a policy that it will not permit the provision of game-changing weapons to Hezbollah. This is not a closely-guarded state secret; everyone knows, because Israel has said it very clearly and very often. Israel has also acted to effectuate its statement, whether doing so means the destruction of warehouses on Syrian soil, in Syria's harbor or en route to Lebanon in an overland convoy. Lebanon allowed Hezbollah into its government; that makes all Lebanese equally culpable for the impermissible acts of Hezbollah. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. Israel has always regarded it as such, as do the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and, as of July 22, 2013, the European Union. The fact of the matter is that Hezbollah is largely responsible for this; the EU had no choice but to recognize the "military wing" of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, but in practical terms, no one claims that there is a difference between the "military" and "political" branches of Hezbollah. I feel some measure of sympathy for the Lebanese people -- but they have only themselves to blame. Only bad things can happen when you allow a terrorist organization into your government. Hezbollah should never have been allowed to enter candidates into public elections. But that's all water under the bridge.
3. Can't have it both ways ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.28.14)
Al Manar, Monday: "'[no] raid on Lebanese territory' ... only the 'strong presence of enemy planes over the area north of Bekaa'" Al Manar, Wednesday: "The new aggression is a blatant assault on Lebanon and its sovereignty and its territory....The Resistance (Hezbollah) will choose the time and place and the proper way to respond to it" It is nothing if not amusing to watch them wrestle with (a) wanting to preserve some measure of dignity and deny that a successful attack took place and (b) acknowledging that Israel caught them with their pants down (or is it skirts up?). It appears that they tried to split the baby: Yes, Israel bombed the hell out of our weapons convoy ... but we reserve to respond at a date, time and place of our choosing. The end result is still utter humiliation. Hezbollah is Israel's bitch. We know it, they know it and now, everybody else knows it, too. How humiliating is that?

you lie with dogs you get fleas. Hezb'allah hides her fat boy under ground leaving the Lebanese to fend for themselves. Its this what Lebanon wants, another war that wont be as gentle as the last time? Fine, say your prayers and kiss your cowardly ass bye bye. KEEP BUILDING ALL OF ISRAEL !!!!
6. Pathetic complaint against Israel.
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (02.28.14)
Bassil should complain to the UN about Hezbollah hijacking his country thanks to the weapons they've accumulated post 2006 IN BREACH OF UN RESOLUTION 1701. Israel is actually doing him a favour. On second thoughts, maybe he had to do it or face retribution from the fat one in his burrow...for colluding with Israel... Oh well
7. GOOD FOR ISRAEL!
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (02.28.14)
Bad for the Lebanese what part of the same agreement allows Hezb'allah the right to amass weapons of such magnitude and damage and go unchecked? Makes me laugh what the hell is the UN going to do about it? They do nothing to end the Muslim on Muslim slaughter.. They probably agree with Israel that's one big reason the Saudi's and arab Gulf States have allied with Israel leaving obama sucking his thumb. KEEP BUILDING !!!

9. The re-supply Hezbollah is breach of ceasefire.
Jane ,   UK   (02.28.14)
What audacity and hypocrisy. The re-supply of Hezbollah is itself a breach of the ceasefire and the relevant UN Resolution. The Lebanese government and the UNIFIL force are either impotent or turn a blind eye to such violations and expect Israel to sit back and do nothing. When the missiles start falling upon Israeli cities they will smuggly sit back and say nothing.
10. "ceasefire reached between Israel and Lebanon"
A ,   Belgium   (02.28.14)
There is a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, NOT Israel and Hezbollah, which the whole world recognizes as a terrorist organization and puppet of Iran. When Lebanon decides to rid itself of this Hezbollah cancer, if ever, than perhaps there can finally be peace between the two countries. But if Hezbollah continues to attack, or make preparations to attack, Israel from Lebanese soil, than Lebanon should expect the worse in return, making their complaints to the United Nothings worth exactly that...nothing.

And the resupply of Israel is not a breach of the ceasefire?

Hezbollah is part of the elected Lebanese government, and some of its higher officials hold government ministerial posts. It is not incumbent upon Israel to recognize a distinction between Lebanon and Hezbollah, any more than Israel recognizes a distinction between the various competing terrorist groups operating in Gaza and Hamas. Israel views Hamas as responsible for all acts of terror emanating from Gaza. Slightly different circumstances, but the same principle. The government of Lebanon is presumed to be in charge of Lebanon. Hezbollah is part of the government of Lebanon. There is no distinction between Hezbollah and the government of Lebanon, just as there is no distinction between any other party holding seats in the Lebanese government. This is unfortunate for Lebanon, but perhaps they should have thought longer and harder about allowing Hezbollah into their government. Did they think that they could control Hezbollah? Or did they have no choice? Legally, it doesn't matter. The government of Lebanon must pay the price Israel will exact for safeguarding its citizens. Lebanese government officials must understand that when you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Hezbollah are dogs. Rabid ones.

Dream on. It's not Netanyahu who is living in an underground bunker, now, is it? I remember when some lunatic terrorist apparatchik fired off a missile into Israel from southern Lebanon. I remember Nasrallah falling all over himself, blubbering, "It wasn't us! It wasn't us!" Let's see now .... Israel has blown up six shipments of arms intended for Hezbollah. Hezbollah's bottoms are raw .... do you REALLY want another spanking? Of course you do realize that the next time Israel goes against Hezbollah, we will not care about collateral damage. And if Hezbollah are "real men" .... why does their "leadership" hide in a bunker like little girls?

and interesting explanation of the Lebanese government. Thank you. However, I must take issue with one of your points: " Hezbollah are dogs" I find that an insulting comparison with man's best friend. I have a really sweet dog and he doesn't have fleas.. usually. I would prefer a more suitable comparison of Hezbollah with lower life forms such as rodents, cockroaches, worms, etc.

You are right about dogs. I didn't mean to insult dogs, and I apologize to all dog lovers out there who took offense.

As we speak, Hezbollah to which you refer as "dogs" have attacked an IDF military installation in the Golan Heights with a salvo of missiles. Why is your IDF keeping quiet on that? Morale problems, eh?
