1. Surround them and draft them all.
Ben ,   USA   (03.02.14)
2. Why can they all take a day off studying?
Netanya ,   Netanya   (03.02.14)
I guess for vacation and for protesting, not studying is permitted, but for helping the state, it isn't.
3. Haredi draft and the non-Haredi Public
Maurice Solovitz ,   London, England   (03.02.14)
Bottom Line: I am Jewish, But i will never be respected by the ultra-orthodox of any of the cults or sects that exist today. They do not respect reach other so why should they respect me? Why should my taxes pay for them to study in a way that teaches them only to despise people like me?
4. Heavy dust cloud descends on Jerusalem bad sign
R ,   Jerusalem   (03.02.14)
NOT a righteous march. Big display of chilul H" with all of the littering, cruelty to the police horses, disprespect of others and on and on. Their insular and exlcusive approach continues to push Jews away from H". Baruch H" for those who think for themselves and can get out of the Hareidi cult.
5. They aren't a protected species
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (03.02.14)
it seems to me an insult to all the other Jewish families whose loved ones and relatives paid for their freedom in blood and gave their lives to protect Israel and all her citizens. Is there an exemption from service somewhere in the Torah where it gives them special privilege? If so, please inform me. This seems straight out of the book, "Animal Farm" where after the animals take over the farm their motto and a sign says, is, "All animals are equal" Later the sign reads, "All animals are equal except the pigs." The irony and metaphor of the analogy isn't lost here. Who would protect and defend Israel if ALL the Jewish males became a part of this cult and sect ? A house divided shall not stand. Every Jewish male and female has an obligation under the law, no one is exempt or 'Holier than thou" to excuse him/her self from national duty and service to secure Israel. But... KEEP BUILDING !!!!
6. stop the free loading
freddie ,   usa   (03.02.14)
why should non-orthodox fight to defend their right not to serve to defend their nation? cut off all financial aid to those who do not serve but are draft age.
7. Test to be Jewish, Test to be citizens
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (03.02.14)
Because of their discrimination, even after making aliyah and serving in the army, I had to go through a process of almost 6 months, dealing with most obnoxious people in the world to prove to them that I was Jewish before I could get married in this country. If I had to do that, I say to them that they have to go through the process of serving in the army (or national service) to prove they are citizens of Israel. If my commitment to this country (and being raised Jewish) doesn't prove I'm Jewish in their eyes........... then being Jewish doesn't mean they have a commitment to this country in my eyes. And they need to prove it.
8. Haredim have it both ways, they share the muslim idea,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.02.14)
that a Jewish state before the coming of Mushiah is illegal, but they have no problem of being sheltered, fed,,protected,by the illegal state, hiding behind the Torah,in a similar demonstration against the draft by their grand fathers a 100 years ago,in than Palestine under the Turks,Poland,Russia,Hungary,Romania, the police in those countries would have been more than happy to open fire with live ammunition against the demonstrators,in eastern Europe young haredi men reporting for the draft, had to shave their beards, do the haredim long for those good old days ?.
9. Now I am confused
frank ,   rehovot   (03.02.14)
I thought they were studying? How is it they have time for this? If they have time, maybe they could work and do the army and possibly stop leaching off the country!! All the famous and most quoted Rabbis HAD jobs, Rambam was a doctor just to name one. What, these leaches are more learned than Rambam?
10. Time to decide
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (03.02.14)
At the very least the Meshugina frum leadership owes us a real answer - is it not enough to turn our religion into a business opportunity and an extortion racket, now they have to turn prayers into a political weapon - so please how is it possible to live with no shame whatsoever
11. protesting for perks and privileges while doing
bernard ross   (03.02.14)
nothing to protest for jewish soveriegnty over the Mount and YS
12. litter
mike north ,   karmiel israel   (03.02.14)
I hope after their prayers they remember as good citizens to pick up all their placards and papers lying all around
13. maurice solovitz
shoshana ,   beitar   (03.02.14)
what tax money are you talking about? you don't even live here. your tax money is being used to fund mosques
14. i was there
dong ,   israel   (03.02.14)
and i would say there were over one million ppl there. torah is what protects israel not the idf. im hashem lo yishmor ihr shov shokad shomer
15. Sorry boys..... G-d is NOT LISTENING!!!!!
Shmuel ,   Jerusalem   (03.02.14)
HaShem says OBEY Torah, don't just spend your life studying it. And Torah says it is a mitzvah to defend the Land of Israel. Party over!!!!!
16. Haredim
Naftali   (03.02.14)
So, it they refuse to participate in any fashion in contribution and defense of Israel, why should Israelis risk their lives for them. If there should be a ferror or missile attack on their neighbourhood, why should we do anything about it? It sounds harsh, but it's reality.
17. Too much time on their hands
Larry ,   Hollywood, FL   (03.02.14)
It should be called the Million Parasite March. Time enough to shut down the capital, but not enough to serve their country. But always ready to take a handout from other people's taxes.
18. haradi protest
reuven ,   Miami usa   (03.02.14)
they don't teach about the wars Of Israel in West Point. the reason is because they do not fit any conventional war pattern. they freely admit That isreal has help from above. Now where do you think that help comes from? the people who violate G-d's law or the people who keep G.d's law
19. to #1, #2 & #3
Debbie ,   Israel   (03.02.14)
I wish Talkbacks had "like buttons" like Facebook has. All 3 of you deserve a like!!
20. 66 shekel reduction in GNP
RGP ,   Haifa   (03.02.14)
The rally will cost the country about 1,000,000 shekels--- 999,934 shekels will be lost because the rally will interfere with the workplace and commute of non-haredim. And then 66 shekels will be lost because of the work missed by the haredim in the demonstration.
21. 500K useless schnorrers...
Al   (03.02.14)
Take that welfare teat out of their mouths and be done with it. It doesn't suit them, well they can all leave, they are useless. Israel has nothing from them.
22. G_d is about justice:justice, justice you shall pursue!
(03.02.14)
Chilul Hashem is what these people are committing! They are sowing hate and hate they shall harvest. These people must consent to join the army in a way or another because if they donĀ“t ,there will be or a civil conflict or a radical split in Israel. It is preferable if they leave Israel in mass than provoke the hate they have provoked.
23. And Prayer Rally on Har Habayit is offensive ?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (03.02.14)
Perhaps this is the area that Hashem wants us to pray with ferverance and heartfelt dedication fo his intercession ?Why a rally in a non particular venue in Jerusalem Central Town more suitable.Detailed explanations would be informative as to why there is such prayer and peaceful inequality imposed by Police Politicians Rabbis Church goers and the Wakf And anyone else who is dedicated in seeking 'World Wide Peace (Or don't we need it ?).
24. More like HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS
Accuracy or bias? ,   USA   (03.02.14)
25. Back to the buses
(03.02.14)
And home for the little babies. Same as every day. True learners were not there today Only the vast majority of doing nothingers. Today no different from any other day Went to a Rosh Chodesh 'heppening' by bus, and taken home again by bus, to mummy. The little boychiks probably given drinks and homentashen on the buses. What a farce....every day
26. Baruch H' that our chayalim
Koomta   (03.02.14)
are nothing like this weak(spiritually) lot. I don't really want our holy chayalim tainted with this lot of do nothings. Bad influence having such lazy weak little boys there with our amazing brave chayalim, May H' guard His holy chayalei Tzahal
27. WOW! Clearly over 1 million people attended the rally
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.02.14)
300,000 at 4:00, by 6:00 p.m. there were over 1 million people.
28. move them all to Sderot...
David ,   Hartford USA   (03.02.14)
and let's see if their studying will protect them. (I doubt it.) I guess they all must be dyslexic - it seems they all think like, "What can my country do for me?" Instead of, "What can I do for my country?" Draft them all, and make men out of these crybabies. They can always return to their studies after serving. Of course, if they've only been exposed to 'higher learning' to say, the 4th grade, then the IDF will have to open remedial schools just to get them to the lowest levels of general knowledge. It will be painful, but it must be done.
29. Haredi are to Jews, what Jews are to world, a pain in fanny
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.02.14)
30. Charedi Prayer vigil
ira ,   new york,usa   (03.02.14)
I had the honor of attending the prayer vigil. It was not a protest -- it was a prayer vigil. There were no speeches and it was made clear to all that the charedim are loyal citizens who support the IDF but are against the forcing of students to abandon the holy Torah for political reasons
