1. Aliyah is suitable for only dentists and the like
BinthereDonethat   (03.08.14)
Anyone else, who doesn't have OODLES of capital, don't do it, you'll be reduced to a beggar, and no one will help you.

...please take her back to Israel, or Moldova.
3. They wont even give me a drivers license, 20 years with a US
sarah esther   (03.08.14)
US license but I require to me tested in Israel to learn to drive like a third world driver.. and I have to pay a lot of money for the priviledge. Good looking getting a dental license, get the ball rolling now and send the faxes, faxes, which they seem to prefer in Israel. You will have your dental license by 2018.
4. Living in America - Been there Done that
Eilon ,   Tel Aviv   (03.08.14)
I tried living in US in 01-03. I had to pay $400 per month to insure 2 cars. Paid $1400 per month to live in a crappy flat in NJ. Experienced the joys of American Jobs market while private health Insurance was a scam. Its all deterioated since 2008. I now really enjoy the Israeli system - Universal Free healthcare and very cheap tuition for my kids.
5. Awesome! I need a good dentist.
manicdrummer ,   Haifa   (03.08.14)
Set up your dental practice right here in Haifa. I've had tooth problems all my life and L-rd knows I need a good dentist. And bring a good dental hygienist with you.
6. #4 lots of ex pat Israelis are waking up to the fact that
Al   (03.09.14)
life in the golus is not what its cracked up to be. In America, if you are not making real money (more than 15K per month) you are wasting your time. That is the truth. I've lived in Canada my entire life, today I am retired and am waiting for my aliyah which I hope to do within 2 years. I am not coming to Israel piss poor. I didn't work for 40 years in Canada to come to Israel in order to collect welfare.
7. The revolving door of Aliyah and Yerida
Avi Mizrachi ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.14)
While Nefesh B'Nefesh is working hard towards promoting Aliyah (NBN brought over an estimated 30,000 Olim since it's inception in 2002), the Israeli American Council (IAC) promotes the strengthening of the Israeli-American community, now estimated at 750,000 and growing by some 35,000/year. No wonder why the rules have changed. At this rate, we'll have an abundance of Jewish-American dentists living in Israel, all competing with each other for an ever decreasing clientele.
8. Key to success: Come with a large fortune
Avi Kaduri ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.14)
Not mentioned in the article is the fact that most Israeli dentists can only charge approximately 1/3 of US rates for the same work while expenses overall are much greater when factoring in taxes, equipment, lab work, staffing, etc. Sarit Rosenblum wrote an article in yNet last year about 180 doctors who made aliyah from the US, Canada and the UK between 2002-2010. The study noted that 69 percent of those surveyed said that their salaries in Israel were not enough to lead their day-to-day lives. Some of the respondents said that the low salary was taking its toll on their families. Before becoming victims of our local bureaucracy, consider making Aliyah while continuing to work half time in the US. Many dentists and doctors living in Hashmonayim are doing just that and have more money and time for their families than most of their Israeli counterparts.

s license that by treaty Israel has to honor. It has to be issued in a country that you are not the resident of.
10. #7 I don't what the heck you are talking about
Al   (03.09.14)
Once the Israeli Jew comes to America or anywhere else his first priority is to melt within the general community while pissing on Israel at the same time. I have never met an Israeli Jew here in Canada who was truly proud of his heritage. Most yordim are at best poor delusional entitled schnorrers with a tremendous inferiority complex. They spend more time whining about lost opportunities that actually doing anything about it. After awhile of not making it in their adopted country, they search for a way to get back home, only to realize that Israel has passed them by. Israel today is the home for those who want to achieve. If you don't have the education, the skill and the will then in most cases you will fail. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Israel today is primed to becoming a very wealthy nation. Those who are educated in the sciences are set to becoming extremely wealthy.
11. Big mistake to start working right a way-learn Hebrew first
Andi ,   Israel   (03.09.14)
12. Going to Israel to work as a dentist is not a smart move.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.09.14)
Everything is so expensive, your practice won’t survive. If the government of Israel offers some special tax breaks, then go for it. Otherwise, just stay in America and establish your business there. Israel is only for the rich.
13. Dentists to Israel
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD, USA   (03.09.14)
Now THERE is an idea you can bite into!!
14. That's not what Israel needs...
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (03.10.14)
They need psychiatrists much more urgently!
15. Be prepared.
mea   (03.10.14)
In Israel the hospitals are not built to appear like five star resorts. Doctors make about a quarter of US doctors--and that is a good thing. I have worked in the US medical profession for three decades and it appalls me that there is no room for patients who are not wholly insured or outright rich. Then I walk out of my off and look at the expensive furnishings, the grand lobbies, the manicured lawns and I think what the hell does this have to do with getting care? I LOVE that in Israel modesty prevails and there exists a middle class society because it translates into access. For people who declare that Israel is for the rich, I say baloney. I have spent way too much time there and it is preposterous to say that.
16. Aliya is only for the financially independent
Bintheredonethat   (04.01.14)
Otherwise it's an unmitigated disaster since people without previous connections and support groups (such as religious sects) cannot get a job in Israel.
