6. Why DOES Assad use Hizbollah?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (03.18.14)
This is a question that has confused me.After all,Hizbollah can only field hundreds or a thousand or so men but the Syrian armed forces are many times more numerous. There seems no need. All that I can suppose is that Hizbollah can operate ruthlessly outside the usual laws of war and Assad can deny all responsibility for its unrestrained war crimes. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
7. #6 Assad can't survive without...
David V. ,   Sydney   (03.18.14)
...the wilful collaboration of certain Lebanese, Iraqi and Palestinian elements, including Hezbollah, PFLP-GC and even such groups as ISIS whose presence the regime has no problems with as it undermines the legitimate opposition. Just like Nazi collaborators in World War II, and foreign fighters in the Iraq war, these collaborators will always act with even greater callousness and brutality. Will they even be tried by Iraq/Lebanon/PA for war crimes? Do they have the authority to?
